Just get rid of this turd. This routine is getting old. Bam! For the win. And as spirit said, cut him on principle alone.

We keep him just because he's not costing us anything. Is it a distraction? For the fans sure, but I think Hue has enough pull with the locker room to not let it affect the team.
WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM my two cents...

I wish they would just allow pot and be done with it.
I wish this FO would just cut the ties and say he'll never play for the Brown's again, ever. Even if he is reinstated. Why? Because it makes you feel good in this moment? That is a horrible way to make decisions. No, because he is going to do it again. Why count on someone you can't count on?

No, because he is going to do it again. Why count on someone you can't count on? Who says we're counting on him though? Because of the suspension, we're really not paying him that much. He's not taking up a roster spot either, iirc. He's not even allowed in the locker-room if he's suspended, so it's not like he can poison any new teammates. So we pretty much have a flier on a potential all-star wide-receiver. We should be making roster moves as if he's not on the roster, and it turns out he is, then great. That said, if he gets suspended another year, we probably should dump him.

That said, if he gets suspended another year, we probably should dump him. We are paying him nothing while he is suspended. As far as dumping him, I am not sure if we even can cut him while he is suspended. Jacksonville has said that Justin Blackmon will almost certainly never play for them again, yet he remains on their suspended list until he is reinstated. Maybe they are just hanging on to him in the outside chance that he turns things around, but I really don't know for sure. However, I thought that I once heard that a player under suspension can't be cut. He remains under contract with the NFL, and thus cannot go to the CFL, for example, and play. That's how I thought it worked, anyway.

That's crazy. Who the hell cares about my health records? I don't even care if they're private, what's the worst that could happen? A nurse could take photo's of your genitals when your very cold, then show everybody the photo's

My friend still thinks he can get reinstated and we'd be able to trade him.
At this stage, Noone would even give us a 7th rounder for him. He's a sure fire mess up. He shouldn't even be given another chance for reinstatement. He hangs around his old crowd and goes back to old habits and it's clear, regardless of all the "cute" tweets he makes, that he's not willing to make changes there or anything.
He's seriously one of the dumbest people, I mean really? Apply for reinstatement and then shortly thereafter, bomb a test?
Hopeless is the new word for Josh.

Really?...Is Josh still a Brown? This FO is starting to make the same mistakes they all have. They actually think they'll be able to trade him. Ha!. Get real!
If Josh was on any other top tier NFL team he'd been gone long ago.

Hopeless is the new word for Josh. It is pretty bizarre. And think about this: if the NFL had already reinstated Josh at that point, he would out for a minimum of another year after the most recent failed test.

Yeah, I'm glad he messed up before reinstatement. It would suck to have had him playing well for the first few games or whatever, only to get suspended there when the team needs him.
Get reliable options. These drug college kids and etc, they just don't and shouldn't have a home here. Piss crap attitude people like Gilbert... also not welcomed.

And to think the Browns FO and many of the posters here were actually counting on Josh Gordon to stay clean and to be reinstated and become our #1 WR again. HA! Some still are. HA! And others think he's worth a draft pick or two. HA! What team wants a player that is suspended indefinitely? Oh yeah the Brown's.... nevermind.

Yeah...I love those high hopes. Mostly from the ones that got a PS2 or SmartTV for winning their fantasy FB league a few years ago with Josh G.

I'll try to explain it again. Josh Gordon probably wants us to release him. He'd be able to be a FA (assuming he can stay clean long enough to be reinstated).
Us holding onto him until he (ever?) finishes out his contract is, in a way, a slap in the face. He wants, more than anything, to hit FA and make the big bucks, but he can't until he's out of his contract. He should've been out of it already, but he's been suspended so much, and now there's no end in sight anymore. The only potential out is for the Browns to release him, but they have no real incentive to do that. He may see that like the FO dangling the key to his "cell" in his face.

I don't think Josh Gordon has had any trade value for quite some time. I was always a proponent of keeping him on the roster because he has already shown to be an elite receiver, and there weren't any real advantages to releasing him besides just proving a point. I'm even waning on that a bit. There still aren't any real downsides to holding onto him, but the more tests he fails, the less you can count on him to stay clean for an entire year or longer. Also, he has been away from football for so long that it is dubious to assume that he is going to come back as an elite player again. It may take him a long time to reach that level again. It might never happen.

Now? Gordon has pretty much ruined his football career. We knew he was a risk when we got him, and we cannot live his life for him. Some people never learn. They don't - as I like to say - wise up. I was just reading some of the post titles and this one caught my eye.
"Josh Gordon is ready for your drug tests."
Not sure exactly why, but it struck me as funny as hell given the recent developments. I was laughing my butt off for awhile.

Well to be fair it did start out as a 'hey I'm clean and ready to play' thread. But yeah, it certainly did take a turn didn't it? When I saw that the thread had gotten a new post and bumped up to the top I clicked on it thinking it was going to be an announcement of his reinstatement. nope...

We keep him just because he's not costing us anything. Is it a distraction? For the fans sure, but I think Hue has enough pull with the locker room to not let it affect the team. Johnny wasn't costing us anything either. Why cut him? We could probably sign Blackmon for league minimum. Let's do that. Wouldn't cost us anything. So why not bring in every loser we can find? Let's sign Greg Hardy. Probably get him really cheap. Since character and availability make zero difference and COST is the ONLY consideration for keeping troubled idiots on the roster, we can load up on them. By the way, reports out now that meathead was with Johnny at a rented house that got destroyed by a three day party. Realtor said drugs were littered everywhere. Coke, shrooms, etc. So meathead is hanging with the party crowd and his best bro Johnny. Nice to see football is his number one priority.

It would take a MIRACLE for either of those two idiots to turn it arouind and do amazing things. Meathead hasn't played any significant time in years. And what has he done really? He had ONE I repeat ONE relly good year. That's it man. ONE good year followed by two year long suspensions and now another problem with a test. But by all means lets keep him. He's a credit to the Browns uniform and everything it stands for. Losing.

No, because he is going to do it again. Why count on someone you can't count on? Who says we're counting on him though? Because of the suspension, we're really not paying him that much. That said, if he gets suspended another year, we probably should dump him. If Hue Jackson really wants to prove that he's trying to change the culture, Gordon has to be gone. It's not about the money or the possibility that he may someday be a decent receiver again or any other matter of "logic".... it's about sending a message to the rest of the team and the rest of the NFL that things are going to change.. and to be honest, it's not even that strong of a message, most other teams would have cut him long ago.
