Him failing another test, is affecting the team, and the city, in a negative way. No he's not. The team isn't counting on him for anything. He doesn't even exist as an entity. The city? Come on. This is football, not real life. If Josh Gordon is affecting anyone one a day-to-day basis then they have more pressing problems than an NFL player not passing drug tests. The only negativity that Gordon brings is to fans who can't handle thinking about him and his lost potential. Million dollar decisions, in football, should not be made because it makes a few people feel better.

He didn't fail the test either, it was a diluted sample. A failure would have to had found THC is his system. Diluted samples mean he was drinking a lot of water.....hiding something maybe, but that is not the same.

So Hue and company not knowing if they'll have his services or not is really helping them prepare and prioritize needs for this upcoming draft? Don't you think if he'd been reinstated under the previous assumption that he's been clean and on track, the need for WR, the priority for WR, goes down and another position overcomes it? I'm not trying to sound mean, but I'd take that as common sense.
As a fan, not as a human, he's effecting us in the city too. We all want this team of ours to be something other than an entity people mock.
Even if we keep him, WR is a huge need because, and even I'd think you'd admit, Josh isn't trustworthy/reliable.

It tested below the allowed threshold of Marijuana, yes, but don't act like all the kid did was drink a Gatorade before pissing. He clearly was trying to mask it. Get the facts. Gz, I need Vers in here. I know he doesn't stick up for foolish kids who haven't matured, or learned from any of the endless events over the last many years.

As a fan, not as a human, he's effecting us in the city too. We all want this team of ours to be something other than an entity people mock. I haven't seen anyone viable mocking the Browns for the Josh Gordon situation. They mock Josh Gordon. Also, even if they were mocking the team, which they aren't, who cares?

Let's see, you admit he's not to be depended on, that he's not an entity on this team. He's been suspended more than he's played.
Are these not perfect reasons to can his ass? I mean if all of these things are true, what's his contribution to the team? If none, then why have him on your team?

What's it hurting keeping him under a non paid contract? He's not taking a roster spot. He's not taking money. He's not allowed around the team. Why release him? What if he never cleans up? We lose nothing. What if he does get re-instated after we can him? What if he goes on to have a great career with some other team? He's ours, and he costs absolutely NOTHING.

See I'm not really on one side or the other here actually. I believe it would probably be best for the perception of the Browns not to have the consistent negative publicity emanating from players such as Gordon and JFF. It's something that seems to continually rear its ugly head to make us look like a laughing stock. I understand that only winning can end that perception once and for all. Yet the constant bumbling and foolishness of those associated with the team is something they can control now.

From the business perspective of the NFL, we own his contract, when and if he's ever reinstated. At that time we can evaluate if he's worth a roster spot or if his contract is valuable enough to get something in return and sell that contract.
If there is no expense is us doing this, why wouldn't we? We're in a good position. He's not a Cleveland Brown because he's not in the NFL.

I can see that side of the debate. I can also see where he'll always be called a Cleveland Brown for as long as we own the rights to him. It's a double edged sword.

Just get rid of this turd. This routine is getting old. I'll quote Eve again cuz it can't be better said. Nah he isn't costing us a thing But for real though, what is he costing us? Sure. What is he costing us? We can just explain to all the other players that meathead is special. He's allowed to get suspended 100 times and we will NEVER EVER cut him. I'm sure some of them will love to hear they can party all day every day and while the league might suspend them we will never cut them..... Hell, here's hoping he DOES barely squeak by in August and starts a weed club in Cleveland. Turns all the young players on. That would be awesome. It's hilarious to me how desperate some are to hold on to the dumbest human on the planet. We just HAVE to keep him. He's SO great. *snicker* Great at being a loser. Probably why so many Browns fans love him so dearly.

That is an emotional reaction. Nothing Gordon doing is currently affecting the team in a negative way. I am not saying I would cut him. I probably wouldn't, but your argument [not just what I just quoted] that continues on this thread isn't built on a strong foundation. What have the Browns done w/the WR position since Gordon has been here? I am not saying they were--or are--counting on his return, but the Browns have done a poor job of upgrading the WR position while they wait for Gordon to return to the field. That could be detrimental to the team.

Our team has not turned into what you have described.

And furthermore, Gordon isn't getting a check.
Now that I think about it, NOT cutting him makes even MORE sense. The team can hold him up as an example of what happens if you put drugs ahead of career. And I think most players would understand that: Get suspended for drugs? Lose your paycheck.

And I think most players would understand that: Get suspended for drugs? Lose your paycheck. Right. Most players are smart enough to not get suspended so they keep getting paid. Having Josh Gordon under team control doesn't influence their thinking one way or another.

You avoided the question. The fact is that the Browns have not upgraded the WR position while they have had Gordon under contract.
That could be a coincidence or it could be because they were counting on him?
No one here knows the answer to that. Not even you.

No one here knows the answer to that. Not even you. Farmer was the GM. He didn't value the wide receiver position at all. It's a coincidence.

There's no guarantee that Farmer would have upgraded the WR position even if he wanted to. In fact, most of his early draft picks actually made those respective position groups worse.

I cannot think of a single position group that Farmer actually improved for us. Not one.
He was the anti-Midas.
Browns is the Browns

We cut Johnny Manziel, and he's still referred to as "former Cleveland Brown". As have other train wrecks we've had in the past.

I would have loved to had Gordon on this team, but It just isn't going to happen ...

You just want to argue. Get over Josh. He cost us big in many many ways.
Please, don't even try to shine that turd anymore.

It extends into free agency, least my response did, I won't speak for purple. Free agents, draft picks and etc - there's nothing there that I could say with a truthful heart was an upgrade or impact player. With that said, I'm giving big Cam and Danny AT LEAST another season, probably another two seasons, to make a determination there. If they don't pan out, Farmer may take the bait for the most useless GM to ever hold the position.

He costs us absolutely $0. He's not taking a roster spot. He can't be in the building to "poison" other players. And lastly, we'd get absolutely 0 by cutting him.
So, why do it?
