This thread is to post about weird things you own.

I own an Israeli military gas mask. For no reason other than I thought it was cool you could buy it online. So I bought one. I put it on once and thought I was in a Pink Floyd movie. So now it sits in the garage.

What are some weird things that you own?

Eve, You should make a bong out of that gas mask and trade it to Swish for his Coo Coo Clock. I thought of this because I know he smokes and I'm pretty sure you have an affinity for Coo Coo's. tongue

Actually black forest coo coo clocks can be worth a lot of money, especially if they are antiques. So Swish is smart holding onto his.

I have a Romanian set of PTs. Traded a Gerber for them.

My buddy also got a set, but he traded his multicam fleece, and so he also got shoes they were issued for PT.. They were Adidas.. I was super jealous.

I used to own an Egyptian scarab beetle. I kept it on my work desk for luck but someone stole it. I also had a dale ernhardt hotwheels car on my desk at work. It was also stolen. After that I stopped putting valuable things on my desk.

I have my grandpa's chair. He died in 1988. I got it in 1993. It's literally not 4 feet away from me right now. In my office.

I also have my grandma's chair.

The chairs are the same age, but I got them at different times.

I sit in them both...........and think.

I also have binoculars from both of my grandpas. And I use them fairly often, especially during deer season.

I have one of grandpa's .22 rifles. That is a treasure.

I don't know that these items are 'weird', but my aunt gave me my grandfathers flag, his WWII Medals and some German money from the war.

I own an African fetish sculpture from Zaire (DR of Congo). I studied tribal art when I was at college and while traveling in France I met an African dude selling sculptures. I started talking to him about them and he realized I knew what I was talking about and took me around the back where the "real stuff" is.

The one I bought is powerful and has real hyena hair, nails, bones and a small box full of herbs on its tummy. My wife was freaked out about it thinking it was bad luck or "voodoo" but, I convinced her it was to ward off bad spirits and bad luck and its all good. She has since come to accept it. I have thought to myself maybe I should donate it to an art museum. I may do that one day.

I think over the past two years I’ve posted the weirdest stuff I own on this board.

That would probably be the complete set (every original episode on DVD) Of Star Trek and The Three Stooges.

Here, let me save you some key strokes - Yeah, I’m a dork.

I have a couple pairs of those Vibram FiveFingers toe shoes. People seem to think they are pretty weird.

I don't own anything weird, unless people would consider

A Browns helmet autographed by Chuck Noll.
Lou Groza'a Original 1959 Contract
A certificate that gives me access to any team meetings, or events for the 1964 Championship team.
Maybe my Browns Team playbook from one season
Players scouting report for a game on December 28th 2008 vs the Steelers complete with video the players watched to prepare for that game.
A players copy of the NFL's personal conduct policy.

I have lots of stuff like that if anybody considers it Weird lol

I don't know if it is weird or not but:

I still have my 6th grade Football Jersey (Moose) and the helmet. It was a lesson that I was trying to teach the coach brownie My 6th grade teacher as it happens.

We were playing a game and I was a RB, I wanted to play so bad because my Dad was there and he hadn't seen me play yet. I was bugging the coach, and he finally told to me to go out and run the ball. I went running out and told the QB to give me the ball, he looked over at the coach and told me to go sit down, I looked at the sidelines and everyone was laughing and waving me back. I went back and the coach told me I was crazy if I thought he was gonna let me run the ball. So after the season when we all turned our stuff in, I kept mine, and told the coach why. Well, he tried to threaten me and I told him to go ahead and sue me, he finally left me alone and I still have them. brownie

Know who was the QB on the Team? Butch Carter. The older Bro of Chris Carter. How weird is that?

We still have a rotary dial phone on our kitchen wall. Okay, its not that weird, but definitely retro. My wife wants to keep it in case an EMP bomb is dropped on us, she says because it will still work while digital phones won't. I said "who will we call?".

A gadget that allows cassette tapes to be played in an 8 track player. Might just be the dumbest invention of all time. I wish I still had it.

I remember when I was 17 or 18, when the back seat of my '68 Ford Fairlane was littered with 8-track tapes. They were too big for the glove compartment. I could see how that kind of gadget would have been pretty handy. My brother still has an 8-track player in his workout room. He says it still works and the tapes still play, so why get rid of it?

I always hated 8-tracks. I think I was 8 or so when I bought a Kiss album on 8-track and the fact that longer songs were divided between tracks annoyed me. Also, they were so bulky. I briefly went through a cassette phase but, I always enjoyed making tapes for people more than buying the actual album on tape. But, I do I still buy records. They are probably the only "material" thing I am really tied to. I especially like obscure 60's/70's rock. I have the big names too but, I like the off the wall, small release that are long forgotten or were completely lost at the time. There's definitely some weird things amongst my LP's. But, there's also some killer records where you think...why wasn't this album (or band) huge?

I had one and it was a great idea. I still had a lot of 8tracks but realized they were dying out so I started buying cassettes. This device allowed me to play all my music.
Plus when my 8 track player in my car was getting old, the belt inside lost speed. so I bought a converter. Unfortunately I did not pay attention and it used the wheel drive of the 8 track so the cassette played slow too. I later found one that somehow connected to the 8 track that used the power but not the drive wheel. That was a much better converter.

Eventually my wife threw out all my 8 tracks. She rarely throws her stuff out. Hmmm????

I had 8 tracks, but once they started selling quality cassette recordings, I never looked back. I got sick of wedging a book of matches under the tape so it would play in the car. I remember my brother having one of these in black:

Good idea. You just never know when the next Elctro-Magnetic Pulse bomb will be dropped on us.

But I have a feeling your rotary phone still wont work. (I think if an EMP was dropped on the US, it would be accompanied by the Hydrogen bomb variety.)

You know, a "combo package".

No, your rotary phone won't work because all the signals are converted to digital once it leaves your house and hits the local phone pop. I haven't seen an analog phone circuit without it being converted to digital in 20 years.

Nooo, I think that qualifies.

I self identify as Australian Aborigine, in a band, and I don't think it's proper for you to tell Erik it's weird. We Aborigines are an inclusive people.
