Sam Bradford has made $78M in his career. He is due to make $18M more in 2016. He is also not very good and thinks very highly of himself. Shut up Sam Bradford.

Note on the conditional 4th we traded the Eagles next year: It will be the lowest 4th round pick we hold)
For this year, as of right now, we own the following picks:
Round 1: 8th overall Round 2: 32 (1st pick in the 2nd, almost certainly likely to attract trade offers) Round 3: 65 (2nd pick in the 3rd) Round 3: 77 (14th pick in the 3rd) Round 4: 99 (1st pick of the 4th round) Round 4: 100 (2nd pick in the 4th round) Round 4: 138 (Compensatory) Round 5: 141 (2nd pick in the 5th) Round 5: 172 (Compensatory) Round 5: 173 (Compensatory) Round 6: 176 (1st pick in the 6th round) Round 7: 223 (2nd pick in the 7th)
6 picks in the top 100 is really encouraging, considering all of the holes in this roster. I would not be surprised to see us trade down from #8 to add still more picks, and/or to trade out of 32. (which could be a very valuable asset)
I also think that Cook could be in play for us in the 2nd round.
Anyway, 6 picks in the top 100, and 11 in the top 176 should really help. (along with our 7th rounder) Hopefully we choose wisely. What I expect to see is the Browns trying to package pick # 77 and pick # 100 to move up into the 2nd round. Pick # 32 in any other year would be considered a 1st round pick, so package the plethora of lower round picks (non-compensatory) to move up into the second round and pick up another starter. I see no way we trade up in this draft. If anything, we trade down, and amass more picks. The more picks a team has, the more chances of having players who can actually play, and help them win. That is a major key in analytics, and I don't see that aspect being thrown out in year 1. I can see us trading down from 8, maybe with the Dolphins, (as has been mentioned both here, and on national sports sites)and I definitely see us trading out of 32, as I think there will be strong competition for that pick. It is a huge value pick, because teams have the entire night to let the 1st round dust settle, evaluate who is left, and fall in love with a player who somehow slipped through the cracks. Last year, the Titans traded the 33rd pick (1st in the 2nd round last year) to the Giants, moving down 7 spots, for their 2nd (40th overall) plus a 4th, and a 7th. This year's pick is the 32nd overall, not the 33rd ...... so that may make it somewhat more valuable. We'll see. I also am thinking about 8, and I am becoming more and more certain that we will trade down from there as well. I am quite certain that the front office wants the maximum number of draft picks they can amass, so they can increase the odds of hitting on more players.

8) Cleveland Browns: The choice would have to be between Buckner or Hargreaves IMHO. I would have been happy if we took Buckner at #2. Of course we could trade down again. As Steve already mention the value in this draft is between 20 and 60.
What say Ye?
No way Buckner will be there at 8. I think Buckner goes to either Dallas (although I see them grabbing Bosa), Jax or Baltimore. It would be our luck he goes to the Ravens and we then have to deal with him twice a year. That would leave us with Jack or Hargreaves. I think if this is the case we take Jack. There are as many reports discrediting the knee reports as there are making it into an issue. All that said, I would LOVE for Buckner to still be available and we go for him, Dude is a beast and has potential to be a Pro Bowler for years to come. The only possible scenario I see for the potential of Buckner falling to us is if Elliott goes higher. Maybe to Baltimore?

I could see us trading back up to grab Tunsil if he slips to make sure baltimore doesn't get him. He is only one that I would do it for though.
I don't want anything to do with Deshaun Watson. That is one frail looking skinny arse QB. There is no way he holds up to an AFC North QB game beat down. I think by default we need a QB with some meat on his bones so maybe he survives a season every now and then.
There is just no point in drafting a QB made of glass.

Wow Great trade...
Yes there will probably be another trade on draft day. 6 of the top 100 sounds good to me.
Prediction: Eagles take Tunsil with 2nd pick.
#8 pick I would take CB Vernon Hargreaves. We passed on Patrick Peterson, lets not make the same mistake again. And we should of never let Buster Skrine go. Doesnt matter how good of a pass rush you have, if ppl are always open.

Who exactly is a big physical team in the AFC North? I'm not sure if you're aware, but they've switched to smaller and faster guys because they started getting torched in the playoffs for being slow a few years ago.

I like the trade. I guess we couldn't get Dallas to move up to #2 for a 6th round pick, so we had to settle for Philly's trade. tab, if you don't me using your term, the guy who write the Dallas fleecing Cleveland article is a bozo.
This tells me two things. One, Cleveland was not sold on either Goff or Wentz. While many people think they know who the Rams will take, no one outside that organization really knows. For all those who think the Browns are stupid for trading down and not getting a franchise player ... if the Browns thought one of those guys was a franchise QB then they would not have made the trade. Just because one of us thinks the answer to our ills is Goff or Wentz does not mean the team thinks so.
The other thing is that Philly does see Goff or Wentz as the answer, because they cannot be 100% sure who the Rams are taking. If they really have their hearts set on one of the two, they just took a big risk making this deal now.
Other thoughts - of course Bradford hates the deal. No one gives up that much unless going QB.
Don't want Jack or Zeke. Injury concerns, and character issues.

I just keep thinking back to how many high draft picks we've blown. I mean, not this managment team, but previous FO's. I'd like to believe that the approach they seem to be taking will yield better results. I mean serious, this trade showed me that they have a plan. So let's see what they pick. Man, I can't wait for next weekend.

Lol. Bradford was Chips guy, and I don't even think Chip really wanted him either, acquired him to use as trade bait in attempts to acquire Mariota. I'd want my own guy too, capable of having knees that aren't a millisecond away from collapsing.

Cap, can you expound on Zeke's character concerns, please? He may be referring to the drug concerns and immature comments made with osu? Teams Have Hard-Party Drug Concerns with Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott Updated March 15, 2016 By Charlie Campbell - @draftcampbell Eastern Kentucky edge rusher Noah Spence was a standout pass-rusher at Ohio State before positive tests for the party drug ecstasy led to him being kicked out of the program. At the Senior Bowl, teams interviewed Spence about his issues at Ohio State, and while he wouldn't name names, he said that he wasn't the only Buckeye player who was using ecstasy while partying. In speaking with sources at multiple teams, two of the players that teams suspect for that type of partying are defensive end Joey Bosa and running back Ezekiel Elliott. To be clear, neither player had a positive drug test for ecstasy or molly (MDMA). However, Bosa was suspended for the opening game of the 2015 season. Ohio State didn't clarify the exact offense for the suspension, but Bosa told teams during the NFL Combine interviews that he was suspended because he refused to take a drug test. That counted as a positive and thus he was automatically slapped with the suspension. Bosa told teams that he wouldn't take the test because he was going to test positive for adderall. He is said to have ADHD or ADD, so teams wouldn't have held that positive test for adderall against him and they feel he should have just gotten a prescription for the medication. Teams believe that Bosa knew he was going to test positive for worse drugs and that is why he refused to take the test. Bosa wouldn't admit to using ecstasy or molly, but he did admit that he likes to attend raves. He claimed that he likes going to raves for the "music," which teams found to be very questionable. Molly and ecstasy are common drugs used at raves. At Ohio State, Bosa was a roommate with Ezekiel Elliott. Apparently, their shared place was a party destination, and Bosa told teams that he had to move out and get his own place to get away from all the parties that Elliott had going on. Sources say they suspect that Elliott was also using molly and ecstasy while parting. A number of Elliott's teammates in the Combine interviews told teams that Elliott was a partier, and a unique individual. They said they hung out with him some, but he rubbed some the wrong way. Sources from multiple teams said that Elliott didn't interview well at the Combine, while Bosa had mixed feedback. The skepticism of why he goes to raves and the refusal of the drug test bothered some evaluators. Lastly, teams said they don't expect these concerns to have an impact on the draft stock of either player. They firmly expect Bosa to go in the top 10 and Elliott to be selected in the top 20. Sources don't believe either is a candidate to slide. Teams in the 20s expect Elliott to be long gone, while sources with the Titans have said that Bosa is still in the running for the No. 1 overall pick to Tennessee, but Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey is the current leader with the Titans (see below). While teams suspect Bosa and Elliott of using those drugs, they don't have view them as risks like Randy Gregory last year. Teams don't think that Bosa and Elliott are serious candidates to be landing suspensions and testing positive in the NFL. Thus, both should be high draft picks in the 2016 NFL Draft. http://walterfootball.com/nfldraftrumormill.php#5xjKVuKgCxbqSp1i.99

Wow...thought a possible on Draft day didn't expect it this soon. Just some thoughts.
Not that it matters but it appears that the QB that stood out more than the other was Goff...to the Goff pimps out there cfrs and others. Props out to you all.
1. Its hard to guess what all this means all I can do is try the old educated guess try!
2. Hue Jackson Fell in love with RG3 and his prospects here. As expressed before - I've been a big fan of RG3 being great before coming here. My problem is that we only have him signed for 2 years. If he is who HUE thinks he is...Next off season we have to lock him up.
3. And again this is just trying to guess which is almost impossible to do but I don't think we are targeting a QB (drop back) at 8 or 32. We might take one with our 3 4th round picks? GO SUDFIELD!!! lol
4. Most important and this is not a guess, or opinion. Actually its the OBVIOUS but so important it has to be stated. WE HAVE TO PICK THE RIGHT GUYS! We have to have a killer draft that 3 years from now the NFL world looks back and say...WOW look at their 2016 draft and this base of a team is what has made them CONTENDERS!!!
We have accumulated picks before. Failed miserably. Ok we fleeced the Eagles...ONLY IF WE PICK THE RIGHT GUYS!
In closing: Man I have grown to hate whats that exFB on NFL Network. He a round table somebody mentioned that in 04 the Browns passed up on Big Ben (Think the discussion was a possible Lynch pick) Whats his Name...said it doesn't matter the Browns would have ruined him...the guy heading the discussion made a FACE that was rare suggesting that what he just said had to be one of the stupidest things one can say. But in saying that this guys did show a true Hatred of the Browns.
All I can do is that we make the good picks. No Thompson picks, no Vikiune picks, no Robo picks. No Trent Picks, No 3rd, 4th best QB impact picks...see BQ, Weeden and Manziel.
Now how bad do we go after NORMAN as always, jmho
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

I don't know where we'll be and I won't go so far as to make any predictions, but for arguments sake, let's say that Hue gets us to around a .500 record this season ( I think is a best case outcome for us). We'll still end up in the 12th-22nd pick range. I don't know enough about the Eagles, but I'll assume that even with Goff or Wentz, they don't exactly make it to the playoffs either.. so they end up in the same range.
Not a bad spot to be in with 2 picks if we find a QB Hue falls in love with 100% and we need to get up in to the Top 10 to get him.
And if we don't see that guy next season, it's still a pretty good position to be in because we can use one of them to trade back for a 2018 1st Rdr and still get an impact player in that range in 2017.
My gut feeling is that we still have a lot of trading to do as I think many other Dawgs surmise. I think we'll see a couple more trades that net us some picks next year as well.
This got me thinking. This might be a genius move. Since we did not fall in love with any QBs this year, and next year Deshaun Watson for Clemson should be the best rated qb. 2 first round pick and a the Eagles 2018 2nd round might be enough to trade up to 1. We may have to throw in a 3rd or a 4th but who cares? Hue we will have the guy that he wants for pretty much nothing.. Deshaun Watson > any qb this draft

Bradford needs to relax. If he plays his cards right, this could be like the San Diego situation with Brees and Rivers. Brees was the struggling incumbent when Rivers was the high-priced rookie. Brees got the starting nod and played well enough to keep Rivers on the bench until he hit free agency. (Brees was younger than Bradford is now, but you get my drift)
Keep a clipboard in the rookies hands by playing lights out or give up.

jCleveland was not sold on either Goff or Wentz. They are probably not sold on either but, after bringing in RG3 Hue probably doesn't want QB controversy. Taking a QB at #2 immediately says there is immediate competition and this guy will take over. I think the focus is on RG3 right now and developing a younger guy taken later. Seems sensible to support RG3, try to coach him to 2012 levels or better and keep McCown. Draft a guy like Hogan (I know Versatile Dog likes Lynch but, he will be gone in the 1st) let McCown work closely with Hogan while Griffin runs the show on game day. If RG3 gets hurt McCown is a decent 2nd stringer to come in. I wont be surprised, however, if either McCown or Davis end up going to a QB strapped team like, Denver. Not sure where that leaves Shaw...at this point we still have absolutely no idea what we have with him.

I agree, I think RG3 can be very good again. I think he was beaten down and demoralized in Washington, and he will have to change his attitude and confidence here, but he can still be a very good player.
I really think the Browns will look at Dak Prescott with their 2nd 3rd round pick, I believe Pick 77, or early 4th round. He is a guy that has all the ability and a ton of experience, but needs refined. With RG3 and it's looking like McCown here, they can afford to sit him a year or two and see where he is.

Eagles get our #2 pick and a conditional 2017 4th round pick
We get their #8 pick this year as well as their 3rd round pick (#77, fourth round pick (100) and 2017 1st round pick and a 2018 2nd round pick
If this turns out to be accurate, we fleeced them.
Oh, this came up from the Browns facebook page.. Wish I could post a link but I'm sure it won't be but a few minutes before it's available everywhere. We fleeced them? Not if that QB they take turns out to be a franchise player. Then they fleeced US. If Wentz is the guy and he turns out to be a top five QB every year while we never find one? How great is the deal then? If we blow the picks we got how great is the trade? Time will tell who fleeced who. +1, I don't trust the owner and management to make the right choices on lower draft picks. I just see more chances to make mistakes.

At the start of this process I gave Wentz a late 2nd round grade and Goff a mid first round grade. So, I am happy with this trade. I am impressed by your knowledge, good thing you don't work in the FO of the Rams or Eagles. They should just keep trading down and amassing more picks, maybe they can get 30 6th round picks. That's what analytics will do for you. Can you be much more of a child? You're an adult, act like one.

32...honestly, it all depends on what these Harvard guys do with the picks they have.
But getting only a 3rd and 4th rounder this year in return for swapping our #2 for their #8..I'm not impressed. Of course you aren't impressed. It is a moronic statement to say it depends on what they do with the picks. It always depends on what is done with picks. Who ever goes in intending on blowing picks? It's also moronic to keep putting these guys down because they attended Harvard, like that is some sort of negative. I mean really man, that is laughable. What did our "Big Brian Football Guys" named Holmgren or Davis, or Farmer ever do for us to get us to the Super Bowl? Answer the question. Take a Time Out Dude Peen...no, really it does depend on what these Bigbrain Harvard boys do with the picks they have gotten in trade. If they swing and miss on picks 77 and 100 this year, it's a bad deal. If they swing and miss on the first rounder next year, it's a bad deal...and same goes for the pick in 2018.
I will say this, if Bigbrains were scared to pick a QB at #2 because they lacked experience or did not feel comfortable in their ability to judge QB talent...trading back was probably a relief and a good choice for the those in charge of running this draft.
The most challenging choice for any front office is picking a QB at the top of the draft. Some front offices are confident in their ability to make that pick and some clearly are not.
This front office is brand spanking new with zero experience judging football talent and have never even conducted a draft. More than likely, Sashi and Depo were so damned scared of making a mistake picking #2 that they begged for someone to trade something for the pick...oh wait, Sashi was shopping the #2 pick just a week ago.
When the front office's head strategist (DePodesta) is flying to Florida to meet with Bill Parcells just two weeks before the draft, that is NOT a good sign that everything is under control in Berea. Best advice Parcells could have given if this front office did not feel comfortable making the #2 pick, move out of it any way you can.
This front office is in dire need of leadership with a background in football. Without it, the Browns front office is incomplete.

Yeah. I know Cap lives in C'bus and was wondering if he had more information about those allegations. He's not the type to dramatize. It's nothing more than what's in the article someone posted a little below your post. Bosa discussing the parties and the allegations of ecstasy. I've heard the same on campus, but I cannot say that "source" was not doing anything other than repeating what Bosa said. So, it's nothing concrete. It may not be true, it may be grossly exaggerated. It's just after Gordo and Manzie I do not want to deal with another high (no pun intended) pick w substance issues. Again, no idea if Zeke has substance issues. He very well could be clean from now until the end of time. I do suspect he will be more dedicated to the game than either Gordo or Manzie, or Gilber (not substance issues, just an idiot). If we grab Zeke, it would not devastate me. I would be leery, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Which may not be fair to the kid. I am not sure about a RB high in the 1st, but if we did need to grab a RB in this draft then we could do worse than Zeke.

You assume that they traded down simply because they were "scared" to draft a quarterback. Wouldn't it make just as much if not more sense to trade down if you don't think Wentz is a top flight quarterback? If they see RG3 as being better than Wentz, why would you still draft him and not take the chance of bettering the team with a bunch of good draft picks? Obviously what they do with the picks matters, but don't take a QB just to say you took one. Take a QB you like and believe can be an elite starter. Obviously they didn't think Wentz could be. I think they may have taken Goff at 2, but there is no way to tell. DePodesta implemented a completely new MLB system of acquiring players and ran with it. I highly doubt he is "scared" of drafting a QB that they had rated high that early. I just don't think they had them rated very high.

Mac, my point is I think everybody knows you have to make good selections with the picks. Who goes in to it intent on making poor selections?
Also, why assume we traded because we didn't know what to do? I assume we traded because we wanted to trade down and pick other players. I assume we are good with RGIII. I assume we feel like this trade down allows us to control the top of next years draft , which by the way has 2 pretty darn good prospects.

I think some big-brained kid must have stole his girl in the 5th grade. Just a little off topic here, I just finished listening to Sashi Brown in a live presser and I gotta say this, (homerism aside for a moment) this is one very smart, articulate young man who IMO deserves a chance to show what he can do. Frankly, unless you are unrealistically inclined to dislike Harvard Grads, this guy is extremely likeable. He appears completely trustworthy, honest and direct. Doesn't hide much. Clearly he calls it as he sees it. I think it's premature to beat on this front office. JMO, but I think I'm right.

Peen...I look at the experience level of this front office and know they are lacking when compared to other front offices...and it does show.
Those who see nothing but sunshine and roses can spin it anyway they want, but facts are facts...these guys are very lacking in experience drafting or even running a Pro football front office.
If the Browns are still looking for a franchise QB 2 or 3 yrs from now, many will point to this moment in time and judge Sashi and Depo accordingly.
If Goff and Wentz are leading their teams to the playoffs while the Browns are still trying to find a franchise QB, maybe some will finally get it.

If RGIII plays well. . . If we draft Myles Jack and he is Luke Kuechly. . . If. . .

And if the one that was available is a bust they will look like geniuses. I'm not all sunshine with this FO, but I am willing to give them a chance, plus I LOVE THIS TRADE! Do not like either of the QB's that are available and apparently they don't either.

Even if the QB the Eagles select (Wentz) truns out to have a probowl caliber career. That doesn't dictate what the Browns do going forward.
The begining of any plan is the most important step. This new front office just got their feet wet and didn't get "fleest". That is a positive sign, though we are all aware the jurry is still out on the completion of the plan.
I would like nothing more than to have a team that can support a fanchise QB.

Before you answer, take the time to look up the experience level of each front office and those running the scouting departments.
JMHO, but our front office did not have the confidence in themselves to make a pick at the top of the draft..so they bailed, taking a shot gun approach, hoping to hit on "some" of their many picks they rather than risking it all on one pick at #2.
The Browns looked at this draft from a negative viewpoint rather than from a positive viewpoint. They were more worried about what might go wrong picking at #2...rather than what might be right about drafting at #2.
Obviously the Rams and Eagles did not view their trade(s) from a negative viewpoint. I suppose that kind of confidence in your own ability to judge talent comes from "experience"...the very ingredient lacking in the Browns front office.

I say we should take some of these picks and trade them to Atlanta for Alex Mack.
Browns is the Browns

Eww Boy....It's a QB driven league and we don't have one. I hope these guys got this one right and aren't playing it too cute.
