We have already traded down, and that was fine. We got a lot of picks to fill the roster. But we need impact players. We can get them in the top 8, after that it would take a lot of luck.

If Buckner is gone at 8 I would definitely want us to get Lawson (but not at the #8 spot).

Don't go by the exact guys above. Some will be picked earlier and some will drop, but it gives you an idea of the talent level at each pick.

Personally I'm leaning toward the Titans offer. I didn't think I would until I just did this exercise.

This is a very interesting situation you have set up Deputy, well done! With that said there are several ways that this could go.

If we stayed at #8 then I would say we should take Buckner, he has the strength, power, and speed to make a difference on the outside.

The most logical trade scenario would be with Miami because we remain in a place that we could still pick up an impact playmaker such as Floyd, Ragland, Robinson, or Nkemdiche on the defensive side or possibly Treadwell, Zeke, or Conklin. We would get two additional draft picks that we could use to pick or move up.

The Colts' offering would not be bad as we could move down and pick up the two additional picks while getting better value for at 18 for one of the less spectacular lower 1st round picks as long as we didn't reach for a pick.

The Titans' offer is the one that you glance at and go no way, we would then not have 1st round picks and you would have a valid point. However, it would give us two additional picks in the high value range that I have seen many of you post here like the top 70 and those being in the 2nd round. I would also give us the top two picks in round two and give us some options if we find someone in the lower 1st that we didn't think would be there to be able to trade up and still have 2nd round picks available.

With all of this said I would be most willing just to pick Buckner and then move on.

Buckner, the only way to get better is too improve our talent.

Titans. I like the second round picks.

Well, there's no way the Colts offer three picks over the first two days to move up 10 spots with that roster, but I'm probably hard up enough for 2nd rounders in this draft that I take it. I'd be sweating #16 majorly but in the end is probably take it. If Treadwell and Doctson somehow made it to 17, I'd offer 32 & 65 to ATL, BUF, NYJ, WAS to try and nab them both!

Still have 48, 77, and 82 on Day 2 and the first two picks of Day 3.

For what little it's worth, Walter has them going #23 and #24, so your scenario is doable according to that. I think one of them is probably gone by 17 personally. New Orleans at #12 maybe?

Titans. Flip 43 and 45 to move back ahead of Cincy and Minnesota for Dotscon. Hold 32 hostage to move back down in the 2nd and coup a 3rd. Let's say the giants give us 40 and 71. Heck might even get a future 1st and some but for this example well say 40 and 71. Then you have Dotscon, 33, 40, 65, 71 ,77 a future 1st and 2nd. After starting with 2, 33 and 65. That's some true real estate. I'd even trade 2 of those 3rd for a 3rd 2nd rounder.

I know it's a lot but if any front office will be active it's the analytics.

I'd tell all 3 teams that there are 2 other teams making offers, and that we already have a name on our card. If the teams don't sweeten the pot (all 3 are fair trades, don't get me wrong), I turn in the card with the guy I've wanted all along.

Me too. I see no way they offer that ..... but if they do, I grab it. I am not a huge draftnik, but it seems to me that there is a ton of value in the 2nd/3rd rounds this year.

I doubt Cook is there at 65, or even 32, but hey, we'll see Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Quarterbacks, are very important, but the Browns, ehh they know about quarterbacks.

I wasn't clear. I don't want Buckner. But the media is starting to link him to us at 8. I get that Lawson isn't graded to be worth the #8 pick. But at 18,( the Colts scenario) if the team wanted to go front 7 he would be a very good selection.

At #8 I prefer seeing Browns draft Buckner, otherwise, Ezekeil Elliott. I don't think either will be available.

I get the argument for receivers Doctson and Treadwell. I think Elliott betters both, but Browns are lacking a top three round talent at WR. RB is next position down on the totem pole needing top tier talent. Taking Doctson at #8 and Henry at #32 fixes two areas. Grab Shon Coleman or Nick Martin in the second or third round. I use the remainder of the draft to continue strengthening the defense.

Whomever we pick I hope it's someone that we can get excited about as in wow look at him run the ball, catch the ball, rush the passer etc. A player that OTHER people will notice. Actually, we need about a half dozen guys like that.

I get uncomfortable when someone wants me to give a name. It's not my job to know all the available players in the draft and understand their relative value. What I want is for those doing the drafting to know that stuff, and to draft players who make a difference.

Agreed my friend. It isn't our job to know all about these players. The problem in the past is that the people who were doing the drafting for us and were suppose to know didn't. Hopefully that will change starting with this draft.

Or you could go Elliott at 8 and Michael Thomas at 32, just to please us 0-State honks. Either way I like the idea of addressing both needs early. We need guys that will make first downs and score touchdowns. I think you could make a case that we don't have a "feature" RB right now. I like Duke, but he looks like a change-of-pace RB to me; a situational guy, not a guy you can handoff to 20-25 times a game. I also don't see how any thinking fan can believe we're going to get much, if anything, out of Josh Gordon. I think we need two WR in this draft.

13/73/107 = 1455 pts
18/48/82 = 1500 pts
33/43/45 = 1500 pts

So pretty realistic trades imo - personally I'd be excruciatingly torn - Elliot or Buckner are the obvious BPA. And while I think Elliot will be a stud in the NFL, I don't know if that's a position worth taking so high when we have Crow and Duke.... I really think Duke is special - just not a work horse. So I am leaning towards Buckner. I think Buckner is going to be special too.

As far as trading down - I have no issue with slipping to 13 or 18. The plan being to pick up Treadwell or Doctson ... while the Colts have a better offer - I prefer the Miami offer because [1] Miami is presumably taking Elliot [2] Saints can easily take a WR - which still leaves one of the top 2 WR's at 13. At 18 I think we're into the 3rd WR as Detroit are another team likely to pick a WR. Only other player likely to fall to 18 that I feel I'd want - OT Stanley.

SO. In answer to the Q - I'd take Buckner!

I would take Elliot. He would make the team better now but would also make the QB of the future's life easier.

I had started this post with a theory in my mind to take the Miami offer because even though it was a little less value on the trade chart, it would be even easier to trade down again and one of the WR's should be there if we didn't.

It's only after I saw the players that we could get in the second round that I talked myself out of it.

I don't think there is a wrong answer, other than reaching for someone.
