Wow! I would think with it being only a 2005 that you would at least offer a 6 month warranty on it.
12 month with $200 deductible came with it. I'm old enough to remember when the repair for this would be less than half the deductible. I suppose a loaf of bread was probably a quarter back then too...lmao.
Maybe I should try the "jug is half full" thing on this and figure that the repair costs will probably at least be double the deductible.
Nope. Doesn't make me feel any better...stills sucks.

If a dealership payed for repairs on the used cars it sold that broke down months after it sold them, it wouldn't be in business long
Yep, it's a given. That's why I'm hoping that they opt for the "drill into the ignition" TSB and give me a break on the labor. It may look like crap, but if it works and I don't have to worry about a replacement failing, then I'll take it.

With my Si I got the extended warrenty on her that covers everything except brake pads. I just added it to my loan and figured it was a smart thing to do. Plus when it's time to sell or trade it in it looks good to have.

You can always get more for it when you sell it and it still has bumper to bumper warranty on it than when your trying to sell it "as is"

GM i didn't know they had cars in the stone age :-x
On a more serious note...GM you are correct....my mom drives a 99 corolla and that thing only has 69k on it and is having engine prbs....never heard before that a TYOTOA would have engine prbs! but there u go...(we have always taken care of it...timely oil changes n everything...but there seems to be some sort of leak that we can't find thts eating up oil faster than it should)
2 things... ur not putting the right oil in and secod Toyota did have MAJOR engine problems and did recall their engines... look it up Toyota engine gelling or instead of gelling use the word sludge on goodle. I think it was guaranteed for something like 10 years but it was one specific head that wasn't properly designed and it basically assists in the engine problems. it was from 97-01 i think... i'm not positive anymore but I remember reading about it.

Talk to a tow truck driver. That damned ignition problem. I know one guy who popped his ignition he was so ticked off about it being frozen up on him. I towed more Ford Focus' than I ever wanted to, and almost all of them for the same reason, the ignition lock frozen up. I haven't towed anything in over a year and 3 months now, and I don't miss the Ford Focus.
I drive a 2002 Ford Taurus, and I love it.

Just an update.... The dealership kept the car for the weekend and I called this afternoon to check the status. They ended up replacing the ignition and DIDN'T CHARGE ME A DIME. Needless to say I am pleasantly surprised and very impressed. Keep in mind that this is a Pontiac dealership that sold me the Ford from their used car lot. This was the third used vehicle I have bought from them and have felt the price was fair each time. Customer loyalty does mean something and I took the time to tell the Sales Manager so (who had the final say) . Credit Jim Foreman Pontiac in Springfield, Ohio. As far as I'm concerned they deserve the plug.

and like I said, "impressed". I realized when I first posted this that they were not obligated to what it turned out they did.

Thats not just a Ford problem. GM, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, etc, etc, all know of problems with most of their vehicles, but don't recall them. You can find problems on almost every car on the road if you look for them.
`
true story.
I have owned 2 mustang GT's and currently still own a 2000 expedition, we did have a sunroof malfunction that cost us a bit, but other than that all our vehicles have been great. The auto market is so tight right now, every make of vehicle has known issues, but no one makes junk, companies cant afford too.
Ruining QB's since 1999.

If you liked the dealership so much, and have bought from them in the past, maybe you should have bought a used Pontiac instead of a used FORD. J.M.H.O.
