You know what bothers me? I when i see these draft grades come out. I see the Browns getting stuff like "rarely" low A, but usually low B's and/or high C's.
They list the picks, why they liked/disliked them and so forth, but they for get something. We did start this draft with the #2 pick. They forget that included in the haul of players, we added a 2017 1, and 3 i believe, and a 2018 2. We moved down again, and added a 2016 2 if I remember correctly.
Why do they not consider this part of our draft? These are picks we didn't have when th e2015 season ended. These should be factored into our draft ratings. If we would have drafted Wentz at 2, we probably would have scored higher. So then why do our picks not count?
I don't agree with all of our picks, but I think we did well, and set ourselves up for next year in the process.

A thread for this? They are already whining and complaining in Ammo's thread. Why not just post your issues there?

It's just speculation and them writing something to keep their jobs. Most of those guys are proven wrong, and just like a weatherman, keep their jobs. As long as they can get people reading the garbage they print, they'll keep printing it.
It's just like psychics. No one remembers the wrong predictions if they get one out of a thousand right. The Ws and Ls are all that matter at the end of the year.

Maybe I was mistaken. I don't read all the threads to see if one covers the same thing as mine, if it does, report it and it will be deleted, but questioning why I come here to post is kinda rude don't you think? Then again maybe I am wrong, I guess I can PM you my topics for approval since you apparently have enough time to read every single post on every thread. Sound good?

Well clearly I responded to soemthing I didn't think was the same thing as what i wrote. I clearly don't remember writing anything concerning the draft picks. If you don't want to post, why don't you just not post? Sounds good to me.

The only other thread I wrote in that I remember was this. All I can say is this. Our last 2 drafts were heavily praised by the pundits. At least within the week of the draft, then slowly they started jumping off our draft bandwagon. {quote} I for one am glad to see that they are generally "cooling" on our draft already. Maybe we finally did good. Our last 4 first round picks were heavily praised only a couple weeks after their respective drafts. Maybe there will not be tons of pressure on these kids to go out an the the "saviours" of our team. Hopefully they can go out, get coached, and turn into good players.{/quote} Show me where i said anything about those picks? So apparently my thread is actually different then what you are saying. So please don't waste peoples time by whining. Let us talk what we want to talk about, and you go talk about what you want to talk about.

Shows you how much they know if they were praising Gilbert and JFF. I put sports pundits up there with art critics, as I believe art critics are failed artists that want to take a crap on other peoples work. I believe most sports 'analysts' are the guys who specialized in sports journalism as they couldn't keep up with the big boys.

These so-called "experts" are to the NFL what food critics are to chefs. Nothing more, nothing less.
They're just part of the industry that builds hype and generates interest to keep the NFL in relevancy year-round.
Once you realize that you're just being sold and marketed to, it's a whole lot easier to tune them all out because you understand that they don't actually offer anything.

If they put Australian rules football or rugby back on ESPN, I might actually watch that channel. I miss the refs in their white lab coats. The only thing on now is 24 hour blather.

Sashi Brown took more players this season than the Browns did in the 2013 and 2014 drafts combined.

Just ignore him, Vers thinks he is a ref and it is his job to steer every conversation to be what he thinks it should be . But anyways, the aftermath of the draft is probably the most fun part. Everyone gets to pick apart the picks because they didn't match what they thought we shold draft, and where we should draft them.

True enough, Purp. Reminded of one of my favorite teaching quotes from a time when the "experts", who produced nothing themselves, busted a hump to see who could tear artists apart better than the other experts the equivalent of 'piling on' like the Browns have been treated by media). I like it for its Truth:
"Critics are legless men who would teach running." They prove themselves wrong in hindsight.
If you are wrong without a chance to perform, then something is wrong and unfair IMO.

The funniest part about all of this is that people whine about sports writers. Look at the Browns record no matter who has been in charge. Now look at the lack of draft experience in our FO.
What, did you think they were gonna get an A+?

You kinda have to take the talking heads with a grain of salt.
It's one of those things where they have a job to do, the more outlandish the claims the better in most cases.
Honestly, I don't think any of them can predict how a guy is going to play in the NFL. So many variable to consider like A. Right coach, B. Right Teammates, C. Injuries and a litany of others.
I did something REALLY stupid over the weekend with Kessler. It will crack you up I bet.
I decided to look up All Pro, SB Winning QB's that were picked in the third round.. One stood out (I think he was the only one). Joe Montana. Not a big guy, not a big arm at all. Just smart and with just enough of the physical tools.
He was 1 in taller than Kessler and weighted in about 15 LBS lighter.
What's that mean? Not a damn thing LOL
And NO, I'm not saying Kessler is the next Joe Montana!
Don't believe or get worked up over guys doing a Post Mortem on drafts.. Not worth the time.

So you honestly feel that giving the Browns an average grade of C is something that is outrageous and will cause their internet hits to spike? Really? Or would you say that's much closer to a fair evaluation?

I am not saying I would give them a C or B, but i just feel that it's unfortunate that they don't include the fact we landed picks for the next draft, and they should. That was part of our haul along with the players. We should be graded on that.

Take a step back, All I'm saying is that I don't put a whole lotta store in those post draft comments..

He used to be low key and informative. But the more confident Casserly gets in front of the camera the more of a shill he's becoming.
Ray didn't look so arrogantly full of himself as he has in the past. But like Casserly, if he keeps coming back he'll let his personality show more.

Hey, a "C" used to be average. Average means .500. If the Browns are average, then we're getting much better! I would just read up on the players as much as you can, form your own opinion and wait. The way you sound like you know what you are talking about is to say the OLB from Northwest Arkansas Tech doesn't have "measurables" or something. Those guys don't always know what they are talking about. Of course, no GM in recent Browns history seems to have known what he was talking about ...

Over on CBS there's a guy named Schein (Time to Schein) who says there is only one team who gets an F, and that's only because in grading teams there is no G. In the draft that will be known as the 'Wentz Draft', Cleveland traded out of the pick, then reached for Corey Coleman in a draft where there was no WR worthy of a top 20 pick. Then they took Cody Kessler. He further said "you got a lot of names, but no talent"

"Shill" = bad word, I admit. But he's joining the ranks of "talking heads. He used to be a reassuring, convincing voice of experience and reason. Now it seems he's increasingly enjoying being an entertainer which, for me, doesn't work as well.
My viewpoint is not based on any of his opinions. He's still solid. It just that he's coming across differently to me. It's like if your mentor suddenly starts wearing checkered pants and tries too hard to be funny.
Very high probability I'm the only one affected.
