You had a couple different posts so I'll try to tie them together into one. Thanks for the open discussion too. In the article they state that the Los Angeles Unified SD and San Francisco SDs have had similar policy for a decade. That's well and good, but that doesn't mean you aren't opening the door to more issues in the future. Especially when the issue has been brought to the forefront and the loopholes identified. Sort of like software security. If you find a security hole, you try to patch it rather than say, "well nobody has hacked it before ..." Also as far as girls' bathrooms are concerned they only have stalls with toilets so they have privacy when they go. Boys' restrooms are a little more open, but they do have stalls as well as dividers for urinals. Not all bathrooms are created equal unfortunately. There are changing room/shower areas too, especially in swimming pool areas of high schools which would be wide open to anyone. Most transgendered that I have known do not like attention so they tend to close themselves off and I would imagine, though I do not know for sure, that the same would be the case when they used the restroom. Which again, everyone keeps going back to. Yes TG people are closed off, but that's not really the issue we're trying to address here. You are embellishing Excl. A normal man cannot walk into a girls' bathroom and just stand there watching the girls. Those types would be put in jail. So yes there is something that can be done about it. It takes more than saying you are transgendered male to female to make it true. I'm not embellishing. I'm telling you that is the actual policy in place in a high school right now. Granted, part of it is the law being vague as to who can call themselves trans-gendered, and a bigger part of it is the school policy being really wimpy because school districts are deathly afraid of any lawsuits. But a guy can walk into a restroom and the pool manager cannot question it, because that might be considered discriminatory. That's just not true. A person who is not transgendered could be identified in minutes. A straight man walking into a woman's bathroom cannot act like a transgendered person there is just a difference in physical, physiological, and emotional characteristics of a transgendered person that a straight man would not be able to pull off. But you are acting like there is no grey area to being transgendered. Are you really saying that all TG people will fit the exact same stereotype? And for a school district, that's just begging for a lawsuit. "Sorry, you're just not TG enough to enter the men's/women's room", that's going to cause some major issues/news stories down the road. But the bottom line is that the school district can't play judge and jury as to who they think is transgendered "enough" to apply. So to avoid any complications, the current policy is to let anyone who wants to claim to be TG into whatever bathroom they want.

Good, informative video.
So here's my rebuttal:
First, the majority of these incidents, specifically in the beginning, these guys were already creeps prior to taking their shenanigans to a new level.
They were committing crimes before they even tried the cross dressing nonsense. So I fault the state for even allowing the back on the streets to begin with.
Second, look at the charges. What is a new law going to do? We already have laws that cover those crimes, yes? They were charged with them. Again, unless we're gonna have bathroom police, there's no way to prevent these things from happening.
Now, somebody on this board (read: Excl) is gonna go "zomg that's not the point".
But it is. Remember, on this board, you guys were saying how only law abiding citizens will follow the gun laws, and that we already have laws against certain situations, right?
The same concept applies, whether you want to admit it or not. Unless we have bathroom police, there's no possible way for prevention.. None.
These creeps were doing it before this was an issue. They'll be doing it after this issue, right along with everything else, dies down.
As I said before, this is a feel good issue with these laws being passed against transgendered people.
Nobody cared until the politicians and media brought it up.. It started with the gay marriage nonsense.
Oh, you saw how quick that died down, right?
Let's not buy in to the fake outrage.
And I believe this is fake outrage. Perfect example: Syrian refugees.
Be real: the masses didn't give a flying dog crap about children and vets on the streets, but as soon as Obama wanted to bring some refugees in, like an RKO out of nowhere!!! Now people were "outrage" about a problem they didn't give 2 seconds of thought about prior to it being brought up.
In about a month or 2, nobody is gonna care.

What you're advocating is easier access for these weirdos. Did you watch the whole thing? Do you recall the guy who 'claimed' he was a woman, checked himself into a female psych ward, proceeded to violate 'fellow' patients and they can't kick him out because it's legal for him to be there? Don't care if these guys were doing this before the laws or not. Far as I'm concerned people on the left are just trying to make it easier in the name of political correctness.

I'm not advocating anything.
But whatever floats your boat.. If you think that's what I'm doing, then fine, that's what I'm doing..

Yup. And I distinctly remember not ONE person saying "well, we ought to make it easier for criminals to carry guns, since they're going to anyway." And before you even try to go there, I'm not saying or insinuating transgender people are criminals/pedophiles/whatever term you want. My guess is they are "bad" in the same percentage of every other "group". What we shouldn't be doing is opening doors for more possible bad situations - making it easier, so to speak.

What I'm saying is that I don't think any law, for or against it, should be passed.
This is just another thing to divide this nation, and people bought into hook line and sinker..

What I'm saying is that I don't think any law, for or against it, should be passed. We've had "laws" against it. What is happening now is an attempt to legislate it to be legal. JMO, I don't care how you "identify". I don't. But if you have an innie, you go to the womens room. Have an outie, you go to the mens room. It's a simple concept, regardless of how you identify. (and what the heck is up with the term "identify"? Isn't there some lady that's white as can be, but tried to put herself off as black, because that's how she "identifies"?
This is just another thing to divide this nation, and people bought into hook line and sinker..
How can this divide the nation? What's the number of transgender people - percentage wise? 0.05 or less? Nah, I see it as an attack on societal norms. No one is saying a transgender person can't use a restroom. They can use a restroom. Innies go to the womens room, outies go to the mens room. Problem solved.

Do you actually talk about issues, or do you just complain about me all the time?
I wonder if I ever seen you actually engage in discussions before.
Be nice if you did that. Once in a while.

The problem I see is that those who support such bathroom bills think everyone is going to be honest. That just because a man claims to identify as a woman means he's telling the truth. If you trust that to be so, then I understand your support as well as you naivety.

I think it is crazy that we would make it so easy for a pervert to have access to young children. If my daughters were in the restroom at Target and you wanted to go in, youd have to beat my ass to get in there. Im sure you could whip me as I am older and out shape, but you wouldnt get a free pass.

How come this logic doesn't apply to weapons?

But I think you know what I was referring to.
If we're ok with prevention methods for this issue, why not other issues?

We don't.
Not when there are still loop holes.
I've made my point already. I don't have a side on this, as I think both camps are making ridiculous claims.
Who isn't worried about their kids? But also there's a equality issue that goes along with it.
I'm trying to figure out why nobody wants to talk about bathroom police. That's the only way to really know.
So, bathroom police or nah?

How come this logic doesn't apply to weapons? It does. That's what you don't get. Ever hear of background checks to buy a gun? Ever hear of the ever decreasing so called "gun show loophole" being tightened? Ever hear about - get this - a move to make it illegal for you to give or sell a gun to your child without a background check? They're cracking down on guns. They're opening up bathrooms. All you need to do to enter a woman's restroom is "identify" as female. Bam, you're in. You don't need to look like a female, you don't need to dress like a female. You just have to say "I identify...." I "identify" as a millionaire on some days, and as a homeless person on other days. Doesn't mean I'm either.

So how will the identification process go?
Bathroom police or nah? Will you volunteer to stand guard?

You brought it up. You turned it to guns after asking about the bathroom. Now you dont want to talk about guns? Typical swish...no tell me about these loopholes? Ive bought plenty of guns and had to do a background check for everyone one of them. Either Im not smart enough to avoid them or Im not buying them in the right place. So since you started on guns, please enlighten me.

Now truthfully, most of us understand the transgender people have no greater propensity toward child molestation/abuse than anyone else. However, some seem to be willing to make it just bit easier for those who may to have a venue in which to do it.
How shall we identify the difference between a truly transgender individual male in a ladies restroom and a sexual predator male in a ladies restroom?
Are we willing to trust their word when it comes to the safety of our children?
There will be a case where an innocent child is harmed. Predators revel in opportunities like this.

I still wonder how what these people did was Christlike. I, personally, am not thinking it was "whatever you refer to as christlike". However, it was an appropriate form of protest against something they do not agree with. Some in this country still do understand that a protest need not include vulgarity, obscene gestures and destruction of the property of others. I use the term " some" loosely.

I still wonder how what these people did was Christlike. How was it not Christ like? Jesus loved everyone. I see/saw no hate in what those people did. They never once said "that kid can't use the bathroom" See, Jesus wasn't all about letting anyone and everyone do whatever they wanted, when they wanted, how they wanted. Jesus loves each of us. That doesn't mean what you maybe think it means?

Singing what they did, and how they did, lacked any sort of love.
They're basically saying "Jesus only loves me, and my view. Jesus hates those who support equal treatment."
Not sure what's Christlike about what they did. Even all the shaming of trans-gendered kids goes against "Let all the little children come to me." I'm quite sure Jesus accepts trans-gendered children into the Kingdom of Heaven.

By using an egocentrically subjective criteria as "self identify as", what the Charlotte, NC ordnance in reality did was made it legal for straight men to go in to any woman's locker room or bathroom (and vice versa). The initial opposition to the ordinance was a sexual assault victims advocacy group who put forth that a high number of sexual assaults where the perpetrator is a stranger occur in places such as bathrooms and locker rooms. I don't know how true that is in all honesty, but that was the basis. Unfortunately the legislature made a huge mess by doing all sorts of weird, unrelated things in HB2.
Under that ordinance, a fat hairy, bearded, sex offender could go in to the communal locker room, strip down and take his time changing. When the cops show up, all he has to say is "I self identify as a woman". With that very statement he's been given lawful right to be there. When you have a lawful right to be some place, any interaction with police is considered voluntary and our creeper wouldn't have to give his name if he didn't want to. Unless some specific crime has been alleged i.e. he's playing with himself, he's taking pictures of naked kids, etc.... but simply "meat gazing" isn't illegal.
For those of you who think this is fine and dandy, and have kids... at what age did you allow them to go use a public restroom on their own? Prior to them going unattended, why did you send someone with them? Was it to protect them from predators or strangers? What do you feel is an appropriate age to show a girl the male anatomy in the flesh? And of course these questions go both ways for both genders.
Now Swish asked about bathroom police. The problem with that is I don't like the idea of anyone, transgendered or not, having to go to great lengths to "prove" who they are, at least not for so something so personal.
I guess what I'm still trying to figure out is how is it discriminatory to require people to use multi-person bathrooms and open locker rooms that align with their biology?

For the same reasons the SCOTUS ruled gay marriage legal across the land. For the same reason this needed a law to get stopped.
