So, I came across this article tonight. It argues that Wal Mart is essentially getting free security from the police. They argue that the excessive amount of police calls to Wal Mart locations are draining police resources. And according to their numbers, they're not wrong.

Quote:
Law enforcement logged nearly 16,800 calls in one year to Walmarts in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco and Hernando counties, according to a Tampa Bay Times analysis. That’s two calls an hour, every hour, every day.

Later in the article they state that Wal Mart has 18 out of the top 39 most responded to place from cops over a 4 county area.

http://www.tampabay.com/projects/2016/public-safety/walmart-police/

So is Walmart snitching too much?

Interesting article. Even though the police are called for shoplifting small items and parking disturbances, aren't those still crimes? A security presence in the stores would probably deter some of the crime, but when they are committed they have to be reported to law enforcement. It's not like the old days where store security can search suspected shoplifters, even if they are caught on camera. Can you imagine the can of worms that would open? "Walmart singles out transgender minorities for shoplifting searches!"

There's a Walmart in Rocky Hill, CT.

Every week, in the Rocky Hill Reminder, they have the Rocky Hill police blotter with the previous week's arrests in town.

The majority of arrests are for DUI and Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Degree Larceny. (less than $1000). Almost always Walmart.

have you seen the FB page, people of Walmart?

entertaining, to say the least.

It's why I don't shop at Walmart. Can't do it. Won't do it. Would rather pay a few bucks more at a local business than walk the isles with society's dregs. Avoiding the defective chromosomal slurry that makes up Walmart's typical shopper. The same shopper with a shopping bag of Chinese made trinkets that later can be heard talking about how 'they took our jobs!'.
The few times I have walked through Walmart made me lose more faith in humanity than I already had lost.

Our local walmart.

170 police calls logged from May 1st through yesterday. Only 5 of them were related to Walmart. 4 thefts, and one accident in the parking lot.

I would say by the nature of it's patrons Walmart probably has a higher rate of disturbances and theft. When I go to the local Walmart (especially at the first of the month), it amazes me that so many people don't know how to wear deodorant, speak intelligently, or get their big butts out of those handicap carts to get their own highly processed food.

Now mind you, many normal working/poor people shop there as well but they are not the same shoppers you see at Meijer, Giant Eagle, Kohl's, or Target. And you definitely don't see them at higher end stores.

Omg dude there's so many grossly overweight people using the motorcarts.

I remember when I was a teen, this lady was so wide sitting in those things that I couldn't get around her in the isle.

I don't mind the elderly or obviously handicapped using them, but when I see them walk (waddle) into the store without struggling, but sit in one of those because they are too lazy to walk, it disgusts me.

I had to use one once after being hospitalised with a blood clot in my leg... never again I hope.

Reminds me of the humans in the Wall-e movie that had evolved to the point where they had no spine and rode around on hover seats.

Ah tolerance. rofl So many call for tolerance ..... as long as it's for people/groups they like ......

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

I'll try to find it later, but on youtube there's a video of a fight at wal mart. Lady in one of those electric scooter carts jumps off of it and starts fighting another lady.

It didn't appear she needed the scooter thingy.

Well, I just found it. Had some f bombs in it, so I won't post it though.

Why should Walmart hire their own security when they can just get the city cops to handle it for them?

They're saving however many dollars every hour by not having them, and will probably get back at least 1 in 5 items stolen, which are all likely to be smaller, lower cost items.

They're winning all-around.

If a corporate exec from Walmart had their kid kidnapped, he would negotiate to get a lower price, saying that the kid isn't worth that much.

There are some people who have medical conditions that cause them to get much bigger.

I used to think that some really huge people were just lazy ..... until I heard my mom talk about a friend of hers who had blown up in a really short period of time, due to a medical condition.

Now this is not every person who is really large ..... but man, making fun of someone without knowing their history is pretty cruel.

You've gotta be kidding.

The old "I'm not fat - it's a medical condition" spiel.

You realize how ridiculous that is, right?

So do you think when people with this "medical condition" are placed in a cell and are fed fewer calories than they burn, their body magically maintains it's weight?

Which "magical condition" is that?

yea, obviously people with medical conditions are not being talked about.

we're talking about the ones who are huge, rolling around in the carts, eating snacks and drinking pop all the time.

or like the ones who have the oxygen tank attached, yet are still burning cigarettes outside.

i don't get that.

Does anybody recognize what shirt they are wearing? Kinda looks like a cool 4 Horsemen thing, probably found on the rack next to all the Dream Wolf shirts.

Bad form dude. Some people need a catheter bag. It's a medical device. Still, would it be too much to ask for her to wear comfortably loose sweats or something with pant legs so as not to gross people out in the grocery section?
