Finally!! http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/arti...sp&c_id=cinST. LOUIS -- It's official. Homer Bailey will make his Major League debut this week for the Reds. However, instead of pitching on Saturday as was anticipated, Bailey will start Friday's series opener against the Indians at Great American Ball Park. Matt Belisle, who started on Sunday in Colorado, will be moved back one day and start on Saturday vs. Cleveland. Bailey, the Reds' 21-year-old top prospect, is 6-1 with a 2.31 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 10 starts this season for Triple-A Louisville. In his previous start on Saturday, the right-hander allowed four earned runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings with eight strikeouts in a 7-5 win at Durham. Since Cincinnati made Bailey the seventh overall pick in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft, he has been the club's most anticipated prospect in years. In each of the last three seasons, he has been rated by Baseball America as the top prospect in the organization. He was also winner of the 2006 Sheldon "Chief" Bender Award as the Reds' Minor League Player of the Year. Bailey will be assigned uniform No. 34 and a corresponding roster move to make room for him will likely be announced on Friday. The Reds said tickets are still available for all three games of the weekend series. Mark Sheldon is a reporter for MLB.com. This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs.

Yeah, I'm afraid he's going to struggle at first so I let it be. I saw you picked him up.

Nah I think he will be fine. Just not against AL teams...
I found it odd they would call him up for interleague play.

I feel kind of sorry for him given how many problems there are with Reds pitching right now. I wish we could bring him up when we're doing well...just to see how he does. Oh well, maybe it's best to throw him in under pressure to see how he handles it.
GO HOMER, GO!

He has proven all he needs to at that level.
The Reds basically have no choice, they have to Bring him up.

I saw Homer pitch a couple of games last here when he was in AA.
He looks like a real solid prospect..
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

The last time I seen Bailey pitch was at a pre-season game and he was horrible............so let's hope he has improved since then! He did not last one inning and gave up a bunch of runs............I posted in here about how terrible he was............and damn near got my head tore off! The sad thing about it.............the Reds were playing an A.L. team............that other baseball team in Ohio..........I wasted my afternoon going down for that one.........

I kind of remember your post. You made it sound like he is terible period, not just that game. Everybody has an off day. This kid is going to be the real deal.

This kid in my mind is THE TOP pitching prospect.
Ya Yovanni Gallardo has all the numbers, but he doesn't have the stuff that Bailey has.
Bailey has the stuff of a flat out ACE, Gallardo has the stuff of a 1 OR 2.

Okay.................can't argue with you on that one................I hope you are right about him..................I just witnessed one game..........not ready to throw him to the dawgs, quit yet!
Besides................the Reds pitching is not their bright spot right now............actually there is no bright spot anywhere!

He has like a 2.31 ERA in triple A. I don't think that's too shabby.

i am a huge reds fan and used to love Griffey. that is until one time when my dad was staying at the same hotel as the reds when he happened to have business in the city the reds were playing at. well anyways my dad sees a bunch of reds players in the lobby and asks them to sign a ball. everyone there including Barry Larkin, who signed the ball without a hesitation, signed it, except Griffey. when my dad handed him the ball he gave it back and said i don't do that. i mean if Barry Larkin will sign a ball you sure as heck can. i think he is still a very solid player but he cant stay hurt and never hustles anymore.

LMAO. I love people who determine how they feel about an athlete because they don't sign their name for them.

I will give athletes the benefit of the doubt when I hear the "one time this happened" story.. because athletes have bad days too and I don't expect them to be jovial and friendly all the time.. however some athletes get a reputation for being asses more often than not, refusing autographs, etc.. those I do have a problem with...
