I think we know the reason Eric made those comments, even if we leave it unspoken. Well now I'm really confused.. I have no idea what his reason is.. Spoken or unspoken...

I think we know the reason Eric made those comments, even if we leave it unspoken. Well now I'm really confused.. I have no idea what his reason is.. Spoken or unspoken... Seeing as I don't like this president in the fist place, I will lay them all out for you both. He is not a patriot. He looks at our Constitution and sees it as negative liberties, where I see it as a means of constraining the government. He goes to foreign countries and complains about America and the people that live here, and questions our morality in what we have done throughout history. He does not represent us well. We are a tolerant nation, and we do fix problems within our nation. Change does not happen as fast as some people want, but we do change to fit the times. Our dropping the bombs on Japan ended the war and saved millions of lives that would have been lost in an invasion. Our country has brought about many great things in the short time we've been here, like equality, and end to slavery in most western countries, cures for diseases, research in energy production and cleanliness, protected half the world during the cold war, and so on. Yes, some things go wrong, but it's better than anyone else has done. This march to mediocrity that our current government has us on will lead to ruin. We should not be ashamed to be the leading country in the world, and should give others the desire to be more like us, instead of tearing ourselves down to become just like everyone else.

Not a patriot? What kind of back handed disrespectful crap post is this?
Every president we have ever had is a patriot. Good job or bad job, they all come here trying to do what they think is right to better our nation.
Bush, with all his flaws, was a damn patriot. Obama is a patriot. Reagan, bush, Clinton.
I'm sick of the disrespect any president, right or left, gets. It's disgusting, and you're everything that's wrong with this country.
Stop talking about patriotism when you have zero clue of what it MEANS to be a patriot. Pathetic.

While I'm not a fanboy of President Obama, I do, as always, respect the office he holds.

I can sum it up in a single quote of his: http://nation.foxnews.com/president-obama/2012/02/06/obama-blames-founding-fathersPres. Obama: “Our Founders designed a system that makes it more difficult to bring about change than I would like sometimes.” Uh, that’s because the Founders were trying to prevent exactly what you are trying to do, Mr. President. They did not want the Federal Government to dominate the life of every citizen from cradle to grave. They wanted people to be free – to earn their own keep and keep what they earn. What a concept. =================================================== That's a quote from him from an interview on Feb.7 2012. The reply is from the interviewer. If he doesn't understand the reason why our government works as it does, which was done to prevent a single person or part of the government from getting too much power and becoming dictatorial, then he is not a patriot. This guy was supposed to teach Constitutional law. It seems he was teaching his version of what the Constitution should be. Seeing as we had defeated a theocratically established dictatorship to establish this country, he should understand the ideas of self government. I guess he missed this when he was getting his teaching credentials. He has stated many times that he wishes he had the power to make decisions that would affect us all without Congress. This is what makes him 'not a patriot' to me and many others. We, as a people who should understand the founding of this country, should do everything in our power to prevent a dictatorial presidency as this president has tried to bring to power. He seeks to bypass congress constantly, and threatens to do so with executive orders. This country is supposed to be run by the people, for good or ill, and not by the temporary civil servant that should only be executing the laws as set forth by the legislative branch.

I respect the office. I just really don't like the guy currently occupying the office. I haven't liked quite a few of them in my time, and I will speak against them. This is not disrespect, but my opinion of that occupant abusing the trust and power that were temporarily given to them.

All I want to see out of him is GPD growth and secured borders. Add in some changes to the 'cradle to grave' and severe regulatory oversight of the current administration, and a lot of people will forget about this constant recession that is becoming the 'new normal'. I believe we can do so much better, and people will forget about all this petty crap that's currently going on, as it will no longer matter.

It doesn't matter if he understands it, hell Obama doesn't understand it. It's congress's job to enforce it and make them comply with it. They have that power now, but they are refusing to act. When they do, the liberals scream about 'obstructionist'. The federal government was designed that way, to prevent populist changes to the country.

I support what this president has done.
What's funny is you guys trash his leadership and say he's weak, but when he does something, all of a sudden it's "omg he's a dictator".
Proving once again you have no idea about what you actually want.
The fact of the matter is that when you have a congress blatantly saying they will do everything in their power to make him a one term president, and everything in their power to block most of what he's trying to do, Obama should be ok with that?
You're essentially saying "congress doesn't let him do anything, so he should just roll over and take it"
Now THATS weakness. I applaud him for getting things done. The PEOPLE voted him in
Twice.
Twice
Twice.
Let me repeat that again. The PEOPLE voted him into office twice. So why should he roll over with an obstructionist congress? THATS weakness if he did.
But you and others are saying essentially that he should? F that. F all of that. I'm glad Obama went over their heads. Cause if he did what YOURE asking for, we'd still be losing thousand of jobs by the second like we did under Bush.
And it's funny that you're talking about preventing a dictorial presidency, and then turn around and support a guy like Trump? Who sounds EXACTLY like a dictator?
Do y'all even read the crap you post? Do y'all even comprehend how hypocritical you guys sound half the time? Or do y'all just YOLO post like its nothing?
He's a patriotic. You, however, aren't.

And just to make it perfectly clear. You supporting a dictator-like politician like trump doesn't make you a patriot.
It makes you sound like a commie.
That goes for you and anybody else supporting him.
And yes, I mean that with every fiber in my body. Your post smells of a guy who isn't a anti federalist at all, but a commie.
You're not a patriot.

He's a patriotic. You, however, aren't. Congress hasn't stopped him at all. They even funded his executive amnesty. I'm not sure where you get your news, but it's faulty. So, miss cleo, you know what type of presidency trump will have without an election even happening. It must be nice to know the future. Yes, people voted obama in twice. I still wish I knew why. I think most were hopeful he'd turn the economy around, which has not happened. Maybe it was because of the feckless opponents he had. Neither McCain nor Romney showed a backbone when dealing with him in debates. Neither of them had a policy that was anything other than Obama lite. Trump is at least a bold difference from what either of them were. All Obama has gotten done is put us further into debt and squash the American dream. What is your definition of a dictatorial presidency? One that's run by a republican? I've seen what Obama had to bring to the table. I'm ready for a big difference from what he did. And you should believe it, if trump pulls some of the same 'executive order' nonsense with policy issues like Obama did, I will speak out against him too.

I highly doubt you will.
And dictatorship = republicans? Please, give me a but more credit than that.
I said Trump = dictatorship, which oddly enough, you said it yourself he isn't an actual conservative. Hell, he's barely a liberal,
Hell, I dunno what the hell he is, for all the politicians we have that flip flop, he probably does it the most.
Your definition of backbone is highly suspect, but regardless, different than mine.
Leadership isnt beating your chest like a gorilla. It isn't insulting people with disabilities. Or making fun of women, or giving name tag insults when they disagree with you. It isn't talking trash on Twitter about world leaders.
But never mind, you seem to like primitive caveman "leadership"
I'd take Romney over trump 10 times out of ten.

At least there was a 'probably' in those statements, instead of stating he will definitely do something.
He's a businessman that is moderately conservative. If he lowers business taxes, gets rid of a lot of the business killing regulations, and gets GDP rising so we have more jobs in the country, he will have done more the current president. Obama is the antithesis of GDP growth.

You're complaint is that he inherited a recession, and he didn't make it recover FAST enough?
Never mind that he has it recovering, but it's not at the speed of your liking.

Obama could cure cancer, but y'all will complain that because he cured cancer, he killed the pharmacy industry. Obama is estimated to average out at 1.55% GDP growth. He has never hit 3% GDP growth a year in his presidency. Reagan, on the other hand, averaged 3.5% GDP growth.

So let's see if I get this straight. You used a headline that was inflammatory and by your own admission totally inaccurate simply as a method to stir up controversy to insult and attack the current president?

You used a headline that was inflammatory and by your own admission totally inaccurate simply as a method to stir up controversy to insult and attack the current president? The press was calling it the apology tour. While he didn't apologize directly in Hiroshima, he did question America's morality in dropping the bombs. Do you agree or disagree with that? I wanted to know what others thought of his stop in Hiroshima. I don't insult. I give my opinion. I back up my opinions with fact.

I guess you would have to show me where he questioned our morality in dropping the bomb so I could see it in its full context.
And facts can be isolated to show what one wishes to show by eliminating some facts and including others. What you have been showing are some facts while omitting others. That doesn't illustrate the entire picture.
That's why two people can look at a set of facts and arrive at their own truth.

not that much, but he absolutely has the power to stop the bleeding at the very least.
which, by all accounts, he has. don't get me wrong, we're still in a rough spot, and have a ways to go, but man, people are complaining about the speed of the recovery.
ill take that over "omg, we're crashing", like we was in 2008. it's been 8 years, yet people are already forgetting the crap storm we had to paddle through to even GET to this point.
and apparently, Erik seems to believe the president has that much power. look at his post. he certainly thinks Trump has the capability to have that much control over the situation.

I have a feeling if Barak's name was Bob, and Bob was a republican, a white republican, you'd be all over him griping.
8 years to get out of a recession? That's a long time. But, no worries, the gov't. just changes how they measure things.
Obamacare sure hasn't helped the economy as a whole.

which, by all accounts, he has. don't get me wrong, we're still in a rough spot, and have a ways to go, but man, people are complaining about the speed of the recovery.
ill take that over "omg, we're crashing", like we was in 2008. it's been 8 years, yet people are already forgetting the crap storm we had to paddle through to even GET to this point. I believe that some people think that we haven't escaped the crap storm, we have just pushed it down the road by injecting trillions of dollars in debt. Which oddly enough, barely gets a mention in this election cycle as we fight about who gets to sit or stand when they pee. We are unquestionably in a better place personally than we were in 2008 but is the country as a whole in a better place? Are we poised to do better or are we just postponing the inevitable? My fear, another thing that is seldom talked about because it's not as enthralling as whether weed should be legal or whether a Christian bakery should have to bake a cake for a gay couple, is the corporate take over that is going on in the United States... the number of assets in the US that are now owned by foreign companies.. and it's growing every day.

Are we poised to do better or are we just postponing the inevitable? your whole statement is valid, i wanna touch on this part though ^^^^: i said something before, and then there was a mini side conversation about it. i mentioned the greed of corporations and profits, and it turned into what you guys were discussing. so just going off the boards discussion and logic.....what else can the government possibly do? we've already cut taxes. nobody in the rich is paying high taxes with all those deductions, hell, people on this board paid more taxes last year than GE. just going off DT's logic on that discussion, what else could the government, right or left, possibly do? say zero taxes? just going off that discussion, isn't our entire future dependent on how generous rich people choose to be? that's how our economy is set up. yall said it yourselves, people don't have to hire anybody if they don't want to. no matter how good or bad the economy is, or how well the government is ran. So for all the blasting that Erik likes to do with the government, how come he never mentions his boys are one of the major reasons we're in this mess in the first place? you get that right, DC? corporations already proved that lowering taxes isn't gonna stop them from sending jobs overseas to maximize profits. so whats the answer? because just going off of YOUR discussions, no matter what the government does, we will always be at the mercy of corporations and the people that run them. so whats the answer? hope they have a soft spot? call the Make a Wish Foundation? wish upon a shooting star that the Walton family stops destroying small businesses? cause that ain't gonna happen.

While Swish focuses on that middle item, it is the other two things you mention that worry me. A lot.
I feel like America is slowly being sold & auctioned off; dismantled by foreign investors.... all while sitting on the edge of getting crushed by a bubble that will make the last crash look puny.
The future really, really feels like a horrible house of cards.
