Training. How many times have you heard the term, 'shelter in place'? People have been trained in this country to sit and wait for the police to show up. It's the same reason that 3 out of 4 planes crashed with everyone in their seats instead of trying to do something about the terrorists.

As I remember the stats, in an emergency situation, 10% will do the wrong thing, 10% will do the right thing, and the remaining 80% will wait for instructions.

Personally, I would hope I did something more than hide if I'm ever confronted with a shooter in my place of work or out in public. I do know that I have done the right thing when presented with emergency situations before, so I'd like to think I continue to do the right thing. I do know I'd rather die fighting back than cowering.

Thanks for your response Erik...I'm wired the same way as you and have a hard time understanding how someone who knows they will be killed doesnt fight back even if its a losing endeavor.

Like I said not judging just this dynamic of the human mind has always interested me.

It's honestly hard to say without knowing more details. A gut feeling is a lot different than knowing firm plans, etc.

She knew and did nothing. She even drove him to the club at least once, and took him to Disney to case the area. She was complicit in the planning. Get ready for a battered woman syndrome defense.

I heard the parts about her driving him to Disney and the club on the news. It's my opinion that she's complicit, as that is up for a jury to decide. I think she will use a battered woman defense, as the shooter has a history of violence towards his first wife.

Noor Mateen, the 30-year-old wife of Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen, is being considered for possible criminal charges, officials say. A law enforcement official told ABC News that she may have known something about the incident in advance but claims she tried to talk him out of the assault.

News of the potential involvement of Mateen’s wife comes just moments after doctors at Orlando Health, a hospital where first responders brought victims of the shooting, warned that the death toll may rise.

Noor Mateen was with her husband when he recently bought ammunition and a holster, sources familiar with the investigation told ABC News. The couple had recently gone to the Disney World area together, though authorities are unclear if it was a family trip or if Mateen was there to case a possible target location, the sources said.

Mateen's wife was not initially forthcoming with investigators, authorities said, but she began to cooperate and answer investigators' questions after she was shown closed-circuit TV footage showing her with her husband at various locations in Orlando, among other things, according to two officials briefed on the probe. Investigators are trying to determine whether they were scouting possible target attacks, the officials said.

After Noor Mateen began to answer questions, agents administered a polygraph test to determine whether she was telling the truth.

The couple were married for about three and a half years, Mateen's father, Seddique Mateen, told ABC News. He said he has no idea if she were involved in the attack.

No final decision has been made whether to charge Noor Mateen, according to the sources.

Then a friend just shared with me this real gem he saw on a CBS news page.

In the video posted early Monday, Seddique Mateen says his son was well-educated and respectful to his parents, and that he was "not aware what motivated him to go into a gay club and kill 50 people."

The elder Mateen says he was saddened by his son's actions during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

He then adds: "God will punish those involved in homosexuality," saying it's, "not an issue that humans should deal with."

One former classmate said he was in the same room with Mateen during the 9/11 attacks. While everyone in the classroom was shocked or angered, Mateen was celebrating.

“But Omar was saying some really rude stuff. Stuff like, ‘That’s what America deserves.’ That kind of thing. It wasn’t right,” the former classmate said.

Fierce controversy over pastor's remarks about Orlando attack

SACRAMENTO -- A Sacramento Baptist preacher's sermon praising the attack on an Orlando nightclub that left 50 people dead has the local LGBT community outraged, reports CBS Sacramento.

Recordings of the sermon by Pastor Roger Jimenez surfaced on the Verity Baptist Church's YouTube account.

"Are you sad that 50 pedophiles were killed today?" he said in the sermon. "Um -- no -- I think that's great! I think that helps society. I think Orlando, Florida is a little safer tonight."

The remarks were delivered on Sunday morning, hours after the attack.

"We don't need to do anything to help. As far as I'm concerned, Orlando is a little bit safer tonight," he said.

Sandrea Nelson, the Pride director of the Davis-Phoenix coalition, was left in shock after hearing Jimenez's sermon. He says in all his years growing up Baptist and attending church, no pastor ever spoke of inequality.

"He's not a man of God. He is not a man teaching a true religion," he said.

Jimenez's sermon went on to call for even more death, at the hands of the government.

"If we lived in a righteous government, they should round them all up and put them up against a firing wall, and blow their brains out," Jimenez said in the sermon.

Nelson says it's hateful and violent statements like these that keep many in the LGBT community shut out.

"Statements like this can cause more harm to our youth and people in the closet; it causes them to feel worthless," he said.

"Bottom line is to love thy brother as you love thyself," Nelson said.

Thousands, and possibly millions, of Christians died during this drive to eventually bring the entire world under Islam.

If this defensive war was not fought then we would probably all be Muslim today.
