Meta-discussion? Meta-discussion! Any of you remember a few threads or topics that stick out from the years on here? Discussions that kept you here, or similar things? I'll list a couple. A good thread on same-sex marriage <----- Many great public, and private conversations got spurred due to that thread. A lot of us showed our humanity in that thread, and I had great private conversations with many of you due to it. Shurmur Press Conference Transcript Thread <----- Get ready to laugh uncontrollably. The threads that devolve into puns. ----------------------------------------- I wouldn't say "favorite", but I remember the detective work about one user who pulled some awful stunt, and got banished forever. Won't bring up the name, but many of you long timers should know what I refer to.

One of my favorites was when Dawgpounddrunk totally came unglued and tore into Christy and Shep. Of course it was taken down, but it was a meltdown of epic proportions.

I feel for CoachB'sSon who had to deliver the bad news about 'Dad'!
In CoachB fashion, Bwhahahahahaaha.
Always amused by the BS story about the cop pulling over his buddy speeding and asking to see his 'pilot's license' for going so fast. His buddy promptly pulled out his pilot's license much to the astonishment of the officer. Laughter, coupled with a 'be on your merry way' ensued.

Not one thread in particular, but I'd point to all the threads we supported each other through health issues, family troubles, and general day-to-day crap. Cleveland sports, politics, shootings, and the rest are all so depressing.

I gotta say that I really liked (I think it was Victor who started them) the post game press conference threads last season. Unfortunately they kept getting locked pretty quickly:(

CoachB was a know it all know nothing fraud. This was entertaining reading...and it almost had me sign up to offer the man help...but then the son got on and I was thinking damn he sure does write just like his dad. Though I never believed his connections to the team. The other was the players dad of Eric Wright?? and Vers was entertaining. I will say the reason I kept reading this board for yrs was due to the group on here and just kept reading and found no matter what was going on in my life I was checking in daily. Those are the 2 that stick out to me. I'm glad I joined I just had to adjust to posting on the net...I was very private and struggle with letting people in...I used it as an opportunity to work on my spelling due to a stroke and reach out to the ones Ive come to enjoy over the years. Oh and Swish is the one who got the hands moving to actually join. I really disliked you Mr. Swish and now you may be one of my favorites and for that reason alone I'm glad I joined.

Not a thread but person with the name something 123 frome Erie PA I think but he had the worst spelling and grammar of anyone Ive ever read...and I remember almost everyone just killing him about spell check and he needs to use it...some of the comments that guy got made me laugh hysterically. Though if I remember right towards the end of his posting time it got much improved..his grammar and spelling that is. Anyone of the older members remember this persons screen name??? something 123 I THINK for some reason 123 sticks out but I usually remember people by the location.

While I'm thinking about it...he may have been on the old board...before the switch to this one but I'm 99% sure on the 123 part of his name. Its going to drive me nuts so please if any of the old timers remember please post it.

I remember a thread someone started years ago, asking posters to put forth personal and interesting things about themselves. It was fun to learn things about the posters who laid it out there. I just took it for granted no one would make stuff up, even though possibly some did.
I don't recall who started it, and the only thing I remember posting about myself was that I had never met my biological father, even though he is still alive and lives about 80 miles from me (all still true btw).

If I remember correctly there was a lot of controversy surrounding a poster named "Jaft". Is that correct?

A lot of people didn't like Jaft but I played fantasy football with him and we had some fun with our trade negotiations. I liked Jaft outside of the forum.

There was this one time, we had a thread going about some random topic (don't remember what it was exactly) but it morphed into a conversation about who our starting Qb should be. That was kinda cool.

He may be on the board now. And yes FB, Shep was a long time moderator that had tendency to be controversial in his way of doing things, and him and Christy who came here as a Steelers smack talker met at a Dawgtalkers TG and fell in love and got married . Last I talked to Shep he had moved to PA with her

I'm friends with both Shep and Jaft on FB. I'm friends with other former DT posters on FB, some, most of you have never heard of.
Some don't know it, but the original team message board was Dawg Talk back in 1999 when the team first returned. Some of us have been around since then. A lot of people have come and gone since then.
The Browns actually had a Dawg Talk Day at training camp where we had VIP passes. They set up a tent with food, gave us media guides and took us on a stadium tour. They sent players over to give us autographs and treated us like rock stars!
Between that and the old Dawg Talk Island for tailgates, I have a lot of fond memories there.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I still have one of my VIP passes. Not sure why the Browns basically kicked us to the curb but that's very much what it felt like they did. One year, we were important, the next year it was "Dawgtalkers WHO?" LOL I think they may have wanted to push the whole Browns Backers thing..not sure.

on the old board, the best legendary melt downs and arguments came from the pure football side as well.
it was always Vers and Upbeat( BTTB) vs spirit and dawgone. so much entertainment.

Between that and the old Dawg Talk Island for tailgates, I have a lot of fond memories there. Dawg Talk day was a blast. Especially the years that we went to Damons between practices morning practice followed by four to five hours of eating/drinking and BS'ing followed by afternoon practice spent by the beer tent. I also really miss DTI That's where I first met you Pit, and many, many others who use to be regular posters around here. I miss those days

I have an old picture of me and DawgPoundGordy sitting in the new Browns locker room during the DT Day stadium tour.
Also DPG drinking with SNEBB president Bacon in the stadium pub.
Also SNEBB president Bacon getting a rare Butch Davis autograph.
Does anybody know what happened to DawgPoundGordy? He was like one of the main users of the original board pre-moderators.

I got a game used, Butch Davis signed football for a question I asked on the old Browns online show. Then Davis imploded and quit.

I met Gordon when I came to Cleveland at the Island along with Hooper, Couchgirl, lama, iambrown and saint. Some good welcoming folks in the old guard.
The investigation team on CoachB was legendary. Kingo and Pdawg involved in that from Memory.
Jaft was an alright dude, had some pms back and forth when I went into bat for him not realising he had a different username.
For threads, Michelle started one on what posters looked like and had it linked in her sig. Was great to put faces to usernames.
Eotabs what I saw threads are probably my favourites over the years. Painted a real picture given lack of UK coverage for years before the days of buying the games on my iPad.

Any thread mentioning a sea cow was epic in my book. :-)
I recall the DT VIP training camp days. Met GM as well as others way back when. Good times. I mostly just lurk here now once in awhile.

Some of the very best threads that ever existed at this site were post-game threads after heartbreaking Browns losses.
In all my life, I'd never read so much pathos, raw emotion, creativity, and downright funny prose... and it was coming from reg'lar guys just like me. Y'all are a mess, yo- a passionate, dedicated, "heart-on-the-sleeve" mess... and I love you all for it. Don't nobody do it like Brownies do it- know what I'm sayin'?
_____________
Sadly, some of our very best material was lost to the ether just weeks after they were created. Midseason "Looking Back/Browns v. Whatever" threads have a short shelf life. No worries, tho- those posts are what drew me in when I was a newbie... and are the same posts which keep me here today.
I have too many memorable posts/threads to mention at this time. They're all flooding in, and the pic is jumbled.
Suffice it to say: It's been a fun ride being a Browns Fan with you all... and I wouldn't trade a moment of the time I've spent here with anything else (except for maybe camping in My Favorite Place On Earth).
When I get specific memories, I'll add in.
"too many notes, not enough music-"
