You know the Browns have sunk to new lows when we're still talking about this piece of crap and to think there were many on this board sticking up for this idiot.

Again, thank god for the Cavs! The browns should of kept this guy and signed him to a 10 year mega deal. He's exactly what criminal Haslam likes.

'Johnny Manziel attorney mistakenly sends text to AP about his case'

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdo...-221559809.html

Even by the standards of Johnny Manziel's 2016, the story the Associated Press reported on Friday is unbelievable.

The AP reported that Manziel's lawyer Bob Hinton mistakenly sent the AP a long text message, which he said later was meant for another attorney, presumably discussing a plea bargain in Manziel's domestic violence assault case and apparently suggesting he believes Manziel might have trouble staying clean if that is part of any deal.

"Heaven help us if one of the conditions is to pee in a bottle," Hinton accidentally wrote to the AP, the news organization says.

Hinton also wrote, the AP said, that he was emailed a "heads up" receipt "which purports to reflect" that Manziel spent more than $1,000 at a drug paraphernalia store this week, 15 hours after an incident in which his car was hit and the other car that hit his drove off.

"I don't know if the receipt is legitimate or not," Hinton responded when asked about it by the AP. "I just know that it doesn't say Johnny's name on it anywhere that I can see. It's just that somebody in that store, I guess, circulated that to the other store managers and employees saying, 'Guess who was here today and spent this amount of money.' That's all I know."

The AP story said it got the accidental text after a reporter texted Hinton to ask about the hit-and-run incident. Hinton told the AP he meant for the text to go to another attorney. According to the AP's story, Hinton threatened to sue the AP if certain details were published, citing attorney-client privilege.

CBS 11 in Dallas reported that it talked to Hinton, and Hinton claims the texts are not from him.

Manziel has been photographed at parties often this offseason, with many of the photos making their way to social media or the gossip site TMZ. During the 2015 offseason, when he was still a quarterback with the Cleveland Browns, Manziel spent some time in a rehab facility.

Manziel was indicted on a charge of assault, stemming from an altercation with his ex-girlfriend earlier this year. Hinton told AP that this week he met with an administrative chief in the Dallas County District Attorney's Office who is "very interested" in working toward an agreement in the case.

Johnny Manziel's dad says jail 'would be the best place' for his 'druggie' son - CBSSports.com
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/johnny...is-druggie-son/

On the same day that Johnny Manziel's lawyer accidentally texted case details to the Associated Press, the former Browns quarterback's father said he hopes his son goes to jail

The unraveling of Johnny Manziel continued Friday, when the Associated Press published a report based almost entirely on an accidental text message they received from Manziel's attorney. In that message, the attorney revealed how Manziel's legal team hopes to reach a plea deal in the domestic violence case involving his ex-girlfriend, and added that Manziel might've spent more than $1,000 at a drug paraphernalia store this week.
Shortly after the report dropped, Johnny Manziel's father spoke with ESPN's Josina Anderson about his son's struggles. Paul Manziel, who said in February that Manziel, 23, might not live until 24, told Anderson that Manziel is a "druggie" and that he hopes Manziel "goes to jail."

Here's Paul's full comment, which ESPN's Adam Schefter posted to Facebook:

"He's a druggie. It's not a secret that he's a druggie. I don't know what to say other than my son is a druggie and he needs help. He just hasn't seeked it yet. Hopefully he doesn't die before he comes to his senses. That's about all you can say. I don't know what else to say. I hate to say it but I hope he goes to jail. I mean, that would be the best place for him. So we'll see."

The former Browns quarterback faces up to a year in jail for a misdemeanor assault charge, so Paul Manziel might get his wish. However, based on what Johnny Manziel's attorney inadvertently told the AP in that text message, he might be able to reach a plea deal. The attorney wrote that he met with an administrative chief in the Dallas County District Attorney's Office and that "he is very interested in working with us to arrive at some agreement."

The former Heisman winner at Texas A&M appears to hold no future in the NFL. He struggled in two seasons with the Browns and never managed to avoid issues away from the field. To this point, Manziel's offseason has included getting cut from the Browns, being dropped by two agents, two separate hit-and-run incidents, a reported lawsuit after trashing a rental house, and a ton of partying.

In January, Manziel allegedly struck Colleen Crowley multiple times. According to her attorney, Manziel ruptured Crowley's eardrum.

I wonder how bad his parents enabled him to get like this.

Edit: I know it stretches back to high school, but what led him to get to this kind of lifestyle? Granted, I never touched alcohol before I was 21, so maybe I'm not the best to analyze this situation.

pretty strong words from his father. It's gotta be a horrible, helpless feeling I'd think ... regardless if their enabling led him down this path

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Methinks his college career inflated his ego and partying was part of that. Then he failed in the pros so he is using drugs to escape from himself. Instead of dealing with it.

It's not always the parents fault. I was smoking cigarettes by the time I was eight. Drinking booze and smoking pot regularly by the age of 12. Doing hash, uppers, downers, sniffing glue, coke, and dropping acid during my high school years. None of that was my parents fault.

Manziel was very likely doing hard drugs much sooner than some want to believe..such as, in high school.

Johnnie Manziel made his choice to be a drug addict and no person or event caused it to happen. There are no excuses for path that Johnnie Manziel chose.

So let me get this right, The Browns have sunk to new lows because the fans can't let go of Manziel? Now that right there is crazy...... it's not the Browns, it's "SOME" fans...

What makes you think it was the parents fault? I grew up with rich kids and poor kids. Some worked hard and wanted to be the best and others just didn't care. And that included both rich and poor. Parents can only do so much, like they say, you can lead a horse to water....

tend to agree with this but Manziels Dad did promise him a new car when he was a junior in HS if he would quit drinking...so problems were apparent then and bribery is a questionable way to deal with it....

The parents need to shoulder some of the blame..... I remember when JM was getting in to more serious trouble here and his dad said something to the effect ... if THEY don't do something then Johnny will be dead before he is 25... if THEY don't do something? hey Dad what about you and mom being a little pro active...

The trouble with that thought is, we don't know what his parents tried before "the bribe". Maybe the only way they felt like they could deal with him was to kick him out of the house, and as a parent myself, I don't think I could go that far. But, I'm not making excuses for his parents. We all are not perfect, I'm sure all parents have regrets on how they handled their children.

I feel for them.

Like most any set of parents, anywhere, they probably were guessing at what might finally get through to him.

I don't think you can fault anyone but Manziel for his behavior. Accountability and blame begins and ends with him and him alone.

Even his legal representation are morons. Thanks Ray Farmer/Haslam/whoever was in control for this never ending middle finger that is JF, that is always pointing towards our city. Big middle finger to remind us, constantly, that drafting one loser can bring negativity to the organization, even after releasing and terminating them.

We are unable to escape this.

What is there to escape?
The Browns gave him a Golden opportunity, he chose to eff it up and as we hoped the high investment would pan out, then realized it wouldn't, we dumped his ass in a terse, team statement - as soon as we could.
Not Clevelands fault, I'm not even embarrassed as a Browns fan by his emotionally retarded antics.
