The hot air is coming from you. We lost perhaps the best center in the NFL and one of the top RT's in the league. Those two are not just "guys."

That's what I did say. Chaucer never sinned and neither do I.

LOL, I think the CHS in CHSDawg stands for Catholic High School. I haven't heard a Geoff Chaucer reference since I graduated from St. Francis De Sales High (Toledo) a long time ago.

Chaucer was known for using double negatives. Hence, the reference. Do they only teach Chaucer in Catholic HS?

I went to Centerville like future Cleveland Browns superstar noseguard Kyle Rose. Although I remember him on the outside wink

I read the Canterbury Tales so I am acquainted with the work. I'm sure they teach it in many different schools. I just made the response from my own personal experience. Nothing more or less. Hoped it would be taken as mildly amusing.

If the humor didn't translate, apologies to anyone who feels they need one.

(I posted this article in the FO thread because it sheds a different light on the ongoing argument there. It really belongs here.)

Good stuff.

We need change if we're going to run the ball.

We identified players in Coleman and Drango to run a power game.

If guys like MAC would read a little instead of bitching about spending money maybe they might actually grasp why we let those 2 specific OL go.

I'm liking where we're going with this. Erving needs to be at Center. Coleman starts day one at RT. To not have 2 rookies next to each other I'd go Bailey at RG and work Drango in as time goes on.

They gave McCown 5 seconds before he walked into a sack every play. Let's be real, if we didn't have a brain dead QB and a brain dead OC, we could have had a significant season last year.

Yep. None of our QBs were able to get rid of the ball quickly. They all played like they were Ben Roethlisberger of old, but without any of his strength and escapability.

Idk man I see lots of 2 and 3 second plays...i don't really see any 5 second protections...full game there ^ McCown didn't really play that badly last year. not his fault we could not run the ball at all that well. lots of reason why we lost so many games...it's not all on McCown.

I was being facetious. But the fact that you say you see a lot of 3 second plays is my point. That's a lot of time for a QB. McCown was McCown. That was the problem.

Browns LT Joe Thomas cracks top 25 of NFL Network’s ‘Top 100 players of 2016’

Andrew Gribble Senior Staff Writer

Veteran hasn’t missed a snap or Pro Bowl since he entered the league

Cleveland’s Mr. Reliable hasn’t shown any signs of letting up, and that was made clear in his new spot in NFL Network’s “Top 100 players of 2016” rankings.

Browns left tackle Joe Thomas moved up two spots from his place on last year’s list to No. 23. The Browns’ longest-tenured active player hasn’t missed a snap (8,959 and counting) or Pro Bowl in his nine seasons with the team.

“He’s always been to the Pro Bowl because he’s that dominant of a player.” Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap said in NFL Network’s video feature for Thomas.

This past season, Thomas joined an exclusive class of seven Pro Football Hall of Famers as the only players to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first nine seasons. After his eighth nomination in 2014, he became the first offensive lineman in NFL history to accomplish the feat.

“He is a born leader, a true leader,” Browns tight end Gary Barnidge said. “He’s going to tell you what you did wrong and help you because he wants to win.”

The respect for Thomas was clear in NFL Network’s feature. Numerous players not only praised his on-field skills, but also his affability and high character.

“Joe’s probably in a press conference saying, ‘Oh, you know great job today, guys.’ He’s a super nice guy,” Patriots defensive end Chris Long said. “You watch him play and it’s kind of boring to be honest. It’s like watching a defensive back over there in man coverage and everyone else is in zone. ‘I’ve got this guy and you guys go play 10-on-10 over there.’”

Thomas is the second Browns player to crack the top 100. Barnidge was ranked No. 94, marking his first-ever inclusion on the list.

Cleveland Browns' Joe Thomas moves up to No. 23 on NFL Network's "Top 100'' of 2016

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Browns ironman left tackle Joe Thomas isn't getting older, he's getting better.

Thomas moved up from No. 25 to No. 23 in NFL Network's "Top 100 players of 2016" rankings as voted on by his peers.

"Joe Thomas is the best tackle in the game right now,'' his former teammate Alex Mack, now with the Falcons, said in a video on NFL Network.

"Hands down the best,'' said receiver Travis Benjamin, now with the Chargers.

"He's always been to the Pro Bowl because he's that dominant of a player,'' said Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap. "He can dance with the best of them. It doesn't matter how fast guys come off the edge, he has the ability to move with them. If you see one guy that has not changed, that's that left tackle right there. And we have to play him twice a year.''

Thomas, hasn't missed a snap -- up to 8,959 now -- or a Pro Bowl in his nine seasons.

"There's a lot of guys who probably question whether or not they want to do it in that locker after playing Joe Thomas,'' said Bears guard Kyle Long. "He's a super nice guy. You watch him play and it's kind of boring to be honest. It's like watching a great defensive back over there in man coverage and everyone else is in a zone.''

Thomas, who's made the list NFL Network Top 100 six times, is the second Browns player this season to earn the honor. The first was tight end Gary Barnidge, who was No. 94.

"He is a born leader, a true leader," Barnidge said. "He's going to tell you what you did wrong and help you because he wants to win."

Barnidge never ceases to be amazed by Thomas' prowess.

"Any outside zone we run to Joe Thomas, if we're double-teaming to the 'backer or this guy upfield, he just knocks the guy completely out of the picture and then you just wash that out and continue going. If he's going to get a chance to give him a punch and get up to the next level, that guy's going to go flying....he is a born leader, true leader.''

He's earned the respect of Chiefs five-time Pro Bowl linebacker Tamba Hali.

"It's always one of those games where you've got to prepare yourself mentally because you know you're going to be in a fight,'' he said. "Joe is Joe. No secrets. You know who you're going against.''

And you know he'll be there for every snap.

Here's the rest of the list. Do you think Thomas is too low? Too high? Right where he belongs?:

We'll see. New coaching staff, and game planning will help. Defenses won't be stacking the box if Huge can manage to do what he did in Cincy.

I think it looks like Greco's ceiling is limited. I think it looks like Bitonio's tuffness isn't being tapped.

I used to like the "idea" of that veteran from Seattle mixing it up, but then a year and a half later, no dice. I kind of like the " idea" of Bailey being a tuffer, unpolished stone ready to be coached,
but after the vet from Seattle didn't pan, the hopes for Bailey may be just super lotto chances.

Speaking of super lotto, Wow if the next Mathews could be like that hall of fame Mathews from 20 years ago, or Clay.

I like Austin Paztor(c) because he moves people around and run blocks.

I been listening to the talk of greatness for years about Alex Mack and Joe Thomas,

How I see it, I don't care if you can pass block for 20 minutes, that's great,

But if I can never, never, never, have a memory of you making a block that breaks a run, or opens a hole, or moves people around leaving the defender on his backside, or REALLY!! plants (jacked up) a pass rusher or would be tackler to full stop, then when I hear talk about greatness I feel somethings missing.

Joe Thomas is great at recovering fumbles though. He's got like 30 fumble recoveries, or 40, is it 50?
Only the Browns.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Why don't you look it up?....hint, your guesses are not even close.

I'd guess in his career Thomas has 4-6 fumble recoveries

Not really - Manziel and others recently were just really good at putting the ball on the ground.

Kindof, but not really. JT had 1 fumble recovery in the last two seasons.

He did have (3) in 2011 (McCoy-Senaca Wallace)
(1) in 2012 - (2) in 2013
(1) as a rookie and (2) in his 2nd year
