Man tried to grab cop's gun to kill Trump at Las Vegas rally, authorities say

A man arrested at a Donald Trump rally in Las Vegas over the weekend told authorities he tried to grab an officer's gun so he could kill the candidate, according to court documents released Monday.

A complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Nevada charges Michael Steven Sandford, 19, with an act of violence on restricted grounds. A judge denied him bail at a court hearing Monday.

It seems “Trump 2.0” hasn’t quite caught on. Not long after Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren blasted Donald Trump in an Ohio speech Monday the man she called a “thin-skinned bully” lobbed a series of insults at Warren, calling her a “racist” and re-upping his own racially-charged nickname for her, “Pocahontas.”

In an interview with NBC News, Trump called Warren one of the “least productive Senators in the United States Senate” and accused her of lying about her heritage.

“She said she’s 5% Native American. She was unable to prove it,” Trump said. “Elizabeth Warren is a total fraud. I know it.”

The response comes in the wake of a written statement from Trump that hit Warren, not on race or heritage, but on her willingness to support Clinton despite the former Secretary of State’s ties to Wall Street. “This sad attempt at pandering to the Sanders wing is another example of a typical political calculation by D.C. insiders,” the statement said.

But over the phone, it appears, Trump was sticking to the script that landed him in first place in the Republican presidential primary, despite Republican hopes that he would pivot to a more “presidential” tone for the general election.

Trump was not the only Republican going after Warren on Monday. Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown suggested on a campaign call that Warren should take a DNA test to prove her heritage, CNN reports.

“She’s not Native American, she’s not 1/32nd, she has no Native American background, except for what her family told her,” Brown said. “The easy answer, as you all know, is that Harvard and Penn can release those records, she can authorize the release of those records, she can take a DNA test, she can release the records herself. There’s never been any effort.”

I've never known a Clinton to not operate from a money standpoint.

Yeah, Warren's main focus is what Sanders exposed Clinton on in the debates. I'd like to see it as it could help where Clinton lacks, but it'll chase away a TON of donors.

Clinton lacks in so many ways. Truthfulness is one.

Trustworthiness is another.

Now, who has the balls to first of all, not turn over a server to the FBI when asked? And secondly, which common Joe/Jane citizen would still be free if, when they did finally turn over the server, they admitted they had erased everything?


She's the biggest scam politician I can recall. How anyone could even consider voting for her is beyond me. She's been lying and scamming since arkansas, probably before.

I get that some don't like Trump. That's fine, don't vote for him. But for the love of all that's good, don't vote for Hillary.

Get hung up on Benghazi, throw a conniption over emails which checked out okay despite a dumb decision, and throw anything else at her.

I'll vote for the ticket that looks to fix income inequality, and preserve the rights of all minorities in this country.

That last part about minorities is an interesting addition because I don't know of any person here who has advocated taking away rights from any U.S. citizen, minority or not. I am all for equality, and I mean real equality, everybody should be held to the same standard. Judge by the content of character, ya dig?

I didn't catch her say it yesterday but she has said things to that effect in the past. It doesn't even surprise me anymore.

I can't see Hillary ever doing that. Warren is too strong of a personality to just be a VP. She'd go after Trump hard and rally Bernie supporters, but I think Hillarys ego is waaaaay to big to have Warren that close to her.

Don't bet your pension on that happening.
HC can't afford to run on a ticket with a Veep candidate who will suck more than 60% of the partisan oxygen out of the room. She needs to have everybody on-board... and with no distractions.

Nope... I think she's more likely try to tap someone like Julian Castro (what an unfortunate last name for a decent American political aspirant to have... ).

It would be the savvy political move. He's young, has a clean reputation, is liked by many... and would absolutely lock down the Latino vote. Trump might get "40's gardener" and maybe 8 others... but every other "American of Latino/Hispanic Familial Roots"* will be flocking to the donkeys. A choice like that would be a very shrewd piece of political calculus... and Hillary's nothing if not a political calculator.

Trust me... Liz Warren is not on Hillary's list- long or short- as Veep. Cabinet post? That's another story for another thread. AND... for my money, a strong possibility, should we see a Clinton White House in the fall.


Voters think with their hearts, beliefs and convictions. Politicians think with their calculators and measuring sticks. It's why The People are always dissatisfied... and the politicians are always employed.

Primary vote is today in Oklahoma, some state races, lots of local ones. As a registered Independent I don't get to vote too much in primaries. Today however we have a statewide race for our House Dist 1 and two Libertarians are running so I was able to vote. That is a sign of progress in this state. Having 1 libertarian running for anything was weird, now we have a primary! They don't stand a chance in hell of beating the republican, Jim Bridenstine but it's a start!

Even more fun from the voting booth today. A sign read as you came in, "NO DEMOCRATS ARE RUNNING FOR ANYTHING, THERE IS NO DEMOCRAT BALLOT".
