I've had no luck finidng anyone who remembers this movie, probably because I don't have a lot of details to give.

It was out in the mid-late 80s. A high school kid kills himself by jumping off a cliff during a party one night. No one realized it was a suicide (first ruled an accident, stumbled off the cliff in the dark) until his best friend gets the suicide note in the mail a couple of days later.

The movie ends at graduation with the suicide's girlfriend defying the principal by singing a song the suicide wrote.

I don't think anyone of any note was in the movie. That's about all I can recall.

Anyone remember this?

This seems to sorta fit, maybe. I had some time this morning and did a search and the closest thing I have come up with this far is a movie called Permanent Record, starring Keanu Reeves,Alan Boyce and Michelle Meyrink. It came out in 1988. Here is the summary from Rotten Tomatoes:

Quote:

David Sinclair (Alan Boyce) is a healthy, popular high school student. He has a caring girlfriend, a gift for both classical and contemporary music, and a loving family. Then one night, he takes his own life outside the biggest party of the year. The tragedy tears apart David's friends and family--not only are these loved ones bereaved, but they also profoundly puzzled by David's fateful choice. The individual most upset by the tragedy is David's best friend Chris (Keanu Reeves), a troubled near-alcoholic who already leads a reckless life. David's death, some worry, might be the incident that finally pushes Chris over the edge. One of Reeve's first starring roles, PERMANENT RECORD is a sensitive, powerful exploration of teen suicide and the devastating effect it has on those left behind.

Thanks, Babe. I use IMDB all the time, but only if I know the movie title or someone who was in it. Is there some way to search IMDB without that information?

SPeaking of old Keanu Reeves films I really enjoyed River's Edge

Cool movie with Reeves, Crispin Glover, and Dennis Hopper.

You can search by keywords, characters, and plots besides title and actors.

OMG, thank you so much. I have been trying to find the name of a movie I saw over 2o years ago and I only remembered sketchy details of the plot and none of the actors were big names or even medium sized names. I just found it though using that site! I owe you one, L!

IMDB is a great site. It used to be better when you could read plots and reviews about the movie.

Now you have to be a registered member to read reviews.

I know, but then you get all that junk mail and crap. The less personal info I have out there the better.

I guess I could just make an identity up, but thats so wrong.
