"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

man what a 5th inning, offense came alive..Naquin is making a case for ROY for sure, i think you hold on to him at all costs, Move Brantley if you have to, either to a different position or different team..Naquin needs playing time. What a steal Napoli has been, he's def. not a mark reynolds

I leave him right where he is for now.

We don't need to move him up, so why screw with him.

So far in this game, Indians pitchers have thrown 96 pitches, and Royals pitchers have thrown 178. shocked

Even another 7 run 8th inning still leaves the Tribe with a 2 run lead.

Sources: CLE in talks for MIL's Jonathan Lucroy. Perhaps Brantley's situation has pushed them to add a hitter & consider upgrade at catcher.

If the Indians are serious about getting Lucroy, I hope they also try to sweeten the deal to get a lefty reliever named Will Smith along with him. He's 27, apparently a hard thrower (15K / 17 IP) with a .94 WHIP. Opposing batters are hitting .175 against him. Could be the matchup lefty we so desperately (IMO) need. Unfortunately, it'll probably take Clint Frazier to pry Lucroy from the Brewers, and then something more for Smith. I think I'd rather they trade Zimmer than Frazier if they have to trade one of them. But I'd still do it, either way.

Lucroy is also one of the better pitch framers in the league, so he will also help out Cleveland in that area.

I don't know. According to my phone the temp in Cleveland at 4:46 P.M.(the last update time) was 79 degrees. In contrast, the temp in Chattanooga at that time was 98 degrees.

I guess we just have different standards on what scorching is....kind of like it is cold here when it hits 40 degrees or 1" of snow is considered a pretty big snow event.

I've been keeping an eye on Francona's handling of the pitching staff.

He's been keeping the starters on a short leash during these dog days of summer.

In the past week only Tomlin (7 2/3 innings on Sunday) has pitched over 7 innings.

The Indians only have one day off the month of August. Boy is that tough. (but 18 of the games are at home)

There is talk that the season may be shortened to 154 games after the current CBA expires in December. I'm all for eight extra days of rest (assuming the season starts and ends over the same dates on the calendar). I just wonder if the players will accept an 8-game pay reduction though.

Side note, I'd like to see the NBA and NHL do the same. As for the NFL, I'm all for reducing the preseason to 2 games, but I also want to expand the playoffs by adding one more wildcard team. The talk of going to 17 regular season games is plain stupid.

They also have a reliever named Jeremy Jeffress who is supposed to be pretty good too. He is a righty though.

listening to Mike and Mike yesterday, they were listing possible "changes" to the MLB.

Shorter season
Shorter games
No DH
Less division games
Less interleague games
Shorter playoff series
Etc, Etc

The problem is (and always will be) the revenue and players' contracts ... how do the owners change stuff with consent from the players as well

There were tweets during the game that said that our front office said that we were not going after a catcher, as they did not see it as a need position.

I'm not a huge baseball fan much anymore, but it's not really because of the long season. It's more that it's a long season which can end rather quickly. There are only a limited amount of playoff spots, and that's even if you consider a one game series an actual playoff spot.

I mean it's July 20th, and there are teams way out of it. Twelve teams 10 games or more back. That's not to say 10 out at this point isn't possible, but c'mon..

I'd like to see an extended playoff season, with 3 game series until you get to the LCS. I think a 3 game set with your best 3 arms versus someone else is an awesome way to decide a winner. I'd even consider it for the LCS, and then have the two winners duke it out over 7 games. I really don't even care that much about the split between DH and pitchers batting. I mean watching a pitcher bat laughable at best, but it doesn't bother me.

Like it's awesome to be a tribe fan right now because they're in first and playing well but how many times have we seen a lost season by mid-June. When you're trying to push your product, why have so many fan bases disinterested before the all star break?

If you add more spots, you can spike interest. If that means cutting down the amount of games, I say go for it. Although for me, I like the whole playing almost every day thing. It's awesome that there is almost always a ballgame on with your team. Especially with a dead sports calendar over the summer otherwise.

Tribe have a 7.5 game lead on the Tigers. Is this the largest the division lead has been?

doesn't surprise me about our FO, anyone that watches the game can see how bad our catchers are..Perez I'm not even sure belongs in MLB, giminez is ok behind plate but provides little else, same with Gomes, who's always hurt, when i look at the team the 3 biggest holes i see are catcher, 3b and a lefty 7th inning guy/situational. The rest of the team is pretty damn good and we have a good bench, I like otero in the BP but there isn't much else in there thats special. Guys like shaw are what they are, they'll be good then bad then good, you can live with that with the way our offense has played, I can't remember a recent season we've gotten the run production we have

Lucroy & Miller? Hmmmm.

Lefty late Reliever we need.

2 birds with a Catcher and a Bat we need.

Don't touch our rotation and I do both.

No need for Bruce then.

Could Gomes be included on the DL?

I'd be fine with Naquin included with his value high now. Zimmer too. Throw in a prospect or 2.

Napoli, Santana, Lucroy and Chisenhall 4-5-6-7 sounds good to me.

Naquin. Do we see him as an every day player?

We add Lucroy and my dilemma is do we lead off with Santana or Davis?

This good thing about Lucroy, if we got him, is that he has a very friendly team option in 2017 for like $5M or something. Also, I thought he played a little 1B too. This provides a flexibility next year depending on what we do with Napoli, Santana, Gomes, etc. It would however create an immediate log jam at C/1B if the team is still committed to Gomes.
