Well, there is that opposing team thing. And I said 2-2 not even counting an opponent

In each of those 4 games the Browns will have the lesser qb On the field. Jackson really needs to game plan a heavy run to pass ratio To keep the game close. The Brown need a real boost from their special teams to even have a chance

Lest we not forget....less than 2 yrs. ago we were 7-9, and the core of the Team is still intact. and......... I still see no reason we can't start out 4-0. Hue is worth a couple of fast start wins on excitement alone, and the Teams we play are not all that. Others won't challenge these statements because they are "positive," and if they are positive comments, people look the other way. But, I'll challenge them. First of all.........what's the most games Hue has won as a HC in one single season? Next, how many games has Hue won as a HC in his career? If the answer to both is 8, then how can you proclaim we will start off 4 and 0? Now.............the core of the team is still "intact?" Do we have the same QB? The same RBs? The same WRs? The same starting TE? Do we still have Mack, Schwartz, Sheard, Whit, Dansby, Gipson, Skrine, Benji, Taylor, etc? Methinks you make things up.

The Browns have never had a core of a team. It's been void of true leaders who tried to turn around A negative culture. They collected their Game checks and were happy to voted to the Pro bowl

Hue is 8-8 as a HC. Whats that got to do with starting out 4-0? Yes, we've lost a few players, but not the core players. Thomas and Haden and Crowell Hawkins McCown Mingo Etc and Ect. Sure were young and new Coaching staff, but we've got enough "core" to get it done. Just ask Hue

It is going to be a very long, ugly season.
Since the Cavs won though, people should be able to deal with it easier, IMO.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Lest we not forget....less than 2 yrs. ago we were 7-9, and the core of the Team is still intact. It is? 2014: QB: Hoyer, Manziel, Shaw RB: Tate, West, Crowell FB: Agnew, Small, Agnew again LT: Thomas LG: Bitonio C: Mack Seymour, McDonald RG: Greco, McQuistan RT: Schwartz WR: Hawkins, Gordon WR: Austin, Benjamin, Moore TE: Cameron, Barnidge I don't think that we have any backup OL from 2014 left. Defense: DE: Bryant, Billy Winn, McDaniel NT: Rubin, Kitchen DE: Hughes, Taylor, Meder, A. Bryant OLB: Kruger, Sheard ILB: Dansby, Robertson ILB: Kirksey, Martin, Carder OLB: Mingo, Solomon CB: Haden, Desir FS: Gipson, Leonhard, Bademosi SS: Whitner, Poyer CB: Skrine, Williams, Gilbert P: Lanning PK: Cundiff LS: Yount I count a total of 6 of these from offense still on the team, 11 total from defense, (1 on IR, and at least 5 of these as backups) and 0 from special teams. How is that the core of the team?

It amazing to me to think that Browns fans forget the Browns arent the only team "that got better" since 2 years Ago The Redskins and Dolphins are better teams. The Eagles got simply better by getting rid of that ego Driven Andy Kelly.

Since the Cavs won though, people should be able to deal with it easier, IMO. Not to mention the Tribe has a good shot at playing October baseball. Couple that with the Cavs starting the season to defend their title and the Browns may find themselves as the third wheel in town.

Yup... the Cavs have a solid shot at making football season barely matter. Doubly so if the Tribe can make us not care to really pay attention until Halloween.
Browns is the Browns

I still see no reason we can't start out 4-0. Hue is worth a couple of fast start wins on excitement alone, and the Teams we play are not all that. And I thought I was an optimist. Cheers to you!
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Hue is worth a couple of fast start wins on excitement alone Oh..........and as far as the core goes.........you earlier said that we had the same core as the team that started 7 and 4. It's NOT the same core.

Number 1, A core to me is your best players and the one's that have been here for awhile. We still have that. I still don't understand what your saying about Hue and 8-8 vs. starting out 4-0. I think we get off on a fast roll and win 2, then the other two is because were the better Team. EXCUSE ME....For wanting to WIN.

Like I said we still have our best players. BTW, I excelled at math. Your truth and my truth must be different. It's all opinion anyway.

Must everyone post to your context.
So he sees optimism instead of pessimism. Big deal. What I took from it is that those first 4 games are not automatic losses to him. I also got from his post that we don't know what Good Hue will bring. If the difference between him and other HC's is that he doesn't just compete but he can get the team to finish...it just could be so.
Express your opinion I'm fine with that but there is no reason to put the guy down for having optimism.

When someone is claiming the core of our team is still in tact, that's patently false. Optimism is one thing, pure BS is yet another.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

What if Bowie really is the future at right tackle.
What if he was only slightly injured last year and they put him on IR to save him for future considerations, and open a roster spot.
I just want to see the O-line, shaken up and see if something better results.
Thomas, Pasztor Mike Mathews, Bailey Bowie,
and let Bitonio, Shon Coleman, Cam Erving, and John Greco, battle it out for 3 seats on the bench.
Please let me know if any of those 4 does anything special.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Please let me know if any of those 4 does anything special. I think Bitonio has earned the right to be called a sufficient NFL player. Same with Greco. They were both AWESOME w/Mack under Shanny's system (a similar system that Hue is implementing based on JT's comments) Erving has to prove himself ... so does Bowie, because he was quite bad when we saw him last

Right now there is no core. But after this season Hue will find out who his core players are In order to have core players your organization has to have values and a philosophy that equated to winning. None of the Browns past GMs ever set any kind of philosophy That was a formula for winning. Next year's core players could be Coleman Kessler Nassib... Who knows at this point. But you need to establish a winning culture in order to find your core Players to reinforce what you are trying to get across

Some thoughts:
o Fullback (Malcolm Johnson): This position doesn't figure to get a lot of snaps in 2016.
I expect the FB to play a bigger role in Hue's offense then in the previous offense.

Do we have someone who's as versatile as Marcel Reece? If we do, then I'd agree. Marcel Reece had rare skillset for a FB. But for me there is a huge gap between using the FB more and using the FB as Marcel Reece. Even if its only in the run game as blocker, Hue historically uses a FB more then the last year's offense. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't agree with: Cooper being a starter. I bet Nassib the rookie claims that in Bryant's absence. The rest would've been my guess too. Right now I think Nassib is too small to play 34 DE (5-tech) in base fronts. From what I remember about Cooper form college he has 3-tech DT type of skillset and that can translate to 34-5-tech. Further thoughts: I think Orchard gets the nod, but I'm guessing he and Ognah do some rep splitting until the point where Ognah and Kruger become theater consistent starters and Orchard will become depth. I'd even go as far to say... I'm not shocked if Ognah takes the starter role right from the get go. I was a fan of Orchard coming out of college, having that year of experience should give him a leg up over Ogbah, especially in base defense run sets. Playing the run wasn't Ogbah's forte. I wouldn't be surpised to see them use Nate in base and bring in Ogbah in known passing situations ala 49ers w/ Aldon Smith.

...If they start in a 3 WR set, then probably Higgins will be the other outside WR and Hawkins moves into the slot. Just my guess. Good question about the 3 WR set. Other then CC training camp will fill out the other spots. I think that Higgins is the most polished/ready to play of the drafted WRs. But his main weakness in college was against the press and NFL CBs will be all over him with the press. If he can handle press then I can seem him competing early for the Z or slot. Because of the press questions regarding Higgins I actually have Payton ahead of him in my mind's depth chart. If I had to pick another rookie to start opposite Corey it would be Jordan. Then there is Hawk who has some history with Hue, actual experience and production as #3/slot receiver that all the other receivers lack. Hawk could be pivotal just from a trust and experience factor alone. Then there is Pryor, who is a physical freak that needs to prove he is capable of making a transition from QB to WR as others have made in the past. For me 2 WR sets: X-Corey Z-Hawk 3+ WR sets: Outside: Corey, Pryor/Payton Slot: Hawk, Higgins Corey-Hawk-Pryor

I take it you have never seen M. Johnson try to block? To be fair, I watched every game he's played for us and I don't think I've ever seen him try to block.
