Yea, I had a friend who was an alcoholic and everyone told me if I give him drinks to ease his suffering I was an enabler. I would be helping him to remain a dependent alcoholic and not actually be helping him at all.

Hillary must have been sarcastic when she used to say almost the exact same things about illegal immigration that Trump has been saying for the last year. She only stopped being sarcastic about it when it was politically convenient to do so.

I understand your frustration, 40. We may not agree on everything but you seem like a guy with a lot of wisdom and experience. I know what it is like to talk about delicate topics such as race, where there is only a narrow set of politically correct opinions we are allowed to endorse. There are people who will read into every word we write and lash out at any interpretation they feel is not acceptable (if that is an exaggeration, it's not by much). You have to be very careful what you write, no matter how good your intentions are.

My God, are we ever gonna figure this stuff out or when my kids turn 60 will they find that old tape and shake their heads in disgust or will they laugh at how stupid people were back then to care about skin color and such?

I don't have the time to follow every back and forth conversation on here. I already spend too much time arguing on here myself, and a lot of it is with you actually.
Just quickly scanning this page, that does look a little crass. I would not immediately think that it was racist or ill-intended. I would think about what he was trying to get at and the underlying facts of the situation. Perhaps it is a reference to how many inner-cities have high crime, failing schools, and just generally bad situations. As a general rule, areas that fit that description have been under Democratic rule for several decades. It does seem like it would be reasonable to give something else a try.

There were 17 Republicans just beginning to talk of their stance on the issues yet many Blacks were not interested, they just fell in line and never looked up.

The GOP rarely, if EVER, speaks about our issues, so why would we vote republican?
Gary Johnson is a conservative libertarian. And he has spoken to our issues way more than the GOP ever has.
The GOP seems to be strictly for white people, sprinkle in some color every now and then.

I'm still not 100% sure who made that comment about being brainwashed or in what context. Like I said, I just quickly read through the thread and tried to piece it together when I made the post. I have to go soon but I might look into later if I have the time, or maybe not. This does get old after a while.
The only thing I will say is about treating others. I have said this over and over, I mean it dearly, and I will say it again: I treat everybody well. I hold everybody to the same standard, but it is a high standard. I look past trivialities such as skin color because it does not matter to me. I believe that an equally smart and equally hard working black man should have the same opportunities and successes as an equally smart and equally hard working white man. Substitute black and white for green and yellow, makes no difference. Substitute man for woman, makes no difference. Content of the character, that is what matters to me.
The flip side to this is that I will not make excuses for any group. I do not believe the woe is me attitude that is forced onto some groups is accurate or helpful. I hold everybody equally accountable and that will not change.

The GOP is wasting its time appealing to Black issues, they are seen as being owned by the Democrats and it is best to look elsewhere for votes.
Blacks should take a lesson from Hispanics. The Hispanics favored Hillary, Bernie, and spread themselves out among the various Republicans. The Republicans starting talking in Spanish and everything in an attempt to woo the Hispanic vote, even Trump, once disliked by the Hispanics for his views on illegal immigration is picking up Hispanic votes. Many of them want the illegals to stop coming here too. The only Black candidate in this election was Carson and you and others almost immediately dismissed him as an Uncle Tom!
So the cry went up from the Republicans, Woo the Hispanics!!!
Blacks on the other hand will live and die with the Democrats. If they get elected, they will hand out just enough to keep Blacks interested, it has been this way for what seems like forever. If the Republicans win, Blacks are smiled at but not treated seriously because come next election, they will be Democrats.
The Hispanics will be showered upon by all players because come the next election, they can be wooed by all.
