So you literally agree with me about liking more than half his policies but say I'm wrong?
You just answered a question that didn't even apply to you. Thanks for helping make my point, I guess. What? No, I don't necessarily agree with more than 1/2 his policies is what I was saying. I typically only look at economic positions when considering a candidate, which is far from 1/2 of a platform - the other stuff is fluff to me. The question does apply to me for any candidate unless I am misunderstanding something. Not sure how I helped make your point, I'm saying I rarely agree with more than 50% of the platform, or I just really don't care about the other aspects.

Does Gary have a plan to combat the current heroin crisis?
That's missing from the two other candidates Get out of the Stan? It seems like a no-brainer to me that the heroin epidemic began to bloom not long after we went into Afghanistan. Are we guarding the poppy fields, or something?

I certainly like the sound of a lot of hig positions, but:
The sections "taxes" and "jobs" on his site seem to point to an unrealistic boogeyman in an attempt to sell policies to the working class that favor the wealthy. Consumption taxes are regressive, unequivocally, and incentivize hoarding money and rewards investment (passive) income. Please help me understand how making goods more expensive for everyone is good for the economy.
The sections "environment" and "military" I think lack nuance that are critical. These sections were a little too "unicorn and rainbows" to be realistic to me.
Trying to pin the Patriot act on Democrats was laughable to me.
Other than that I am behind those policies.

I like the legalize weed part so I can puff it up until I'm in another dimension and then can put all this political stuff completely out of my mind. Wait. Did I just type 'completely out of my mind'?

He's leading in our highly scientific poll and is often thrown out as preferable to our other two choices... but there really hasn't been much discussion on his platform or what he believes or his history, etc.. Most of us probably generally know what Libertarians believe but let's take him apart and see what he (and his running mate) are all about.. I will just start by posting the link to their official website here. Johnson/Weld Have at it. Thanks DC. Can't say that I agree with all of the policies, but it does have a sense of rational thinking to it. Hmmm.... Hope he gets to debate. I wanna see how he handles the other 2 idiots on stage.

if Johnson hits 15% approval and makes it into the debates, over/under 20 minutes into the first debate Trump refers to him as "Little Johnson?"

I doubt that he wants to recycle his insults. I think that if he catches Johnson in a flip flop .... it will be "Flopping Johnson".

im just trying to understand why, that's all. if i didn't agree with half of Gary's policies, i wouldn't be voting for him.
he's a slight edge out from hillary, just from where i stand on certain policies.

It's not all black and white. Policies are not all equal. Most people probably have 2-3 issues that are important to them. Then there are other issues that it would be nice if they agreed on, but not deal breakers.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

I feel ya , I am staunchly for Gary Johnson. I am probably at about 80% in agreement with his policies. I have never seen a candidate that speaks to my stance so closely. Fiscally conservative, socially liberal. Small and efficient government that stays out of my life and does not attempt to legislate my morality .

Just saw a good point to bring up here, if the GOP continues to 'Dump Trump', those votes but even more importantly donor dollars will go somewhere... Good news for Johnson/Weld.

And, I almost hate to admit this, but he is not nearly as dangerous as Trump or Clinton. Again, I can't remember two worse candidates representing the two main parties in a single election. Voters can actually have a real say in this election about how things progress as we move forward.

What does Johnson need to get included in the televised debates? I know little about him but, even if I don't like nor agree with his policies I believe debate is healthy and would like to have a 3rd voice in the race.

I saw this on Facebook: https://storify.com/voteusorg/gary-johnson-is-looked-upon-as-more-trustworthy-ofDon't know how reliable the source is, but you have to wonder, if he's really polling that well, then how the heck is he not hitting 15% in the "official" poll. Is the fix in for the general election too?

Maybe the voters being polled don't see "trustworthy" as the most important requirement of being president?

More like a lot of people still view the libertarian party as glorified fence riders. They do, because so many have been convinced that it's either the D way or the R way... so you have a party that likes some of what D likes and some of what R likes.. too many people just can't grasp that concept....

Washington (CNN)Gary Johnson picks up his first congressional backer By Eli Watkins, CNN Republican Rep. Scott Rigell is voting for Libertarian Gary Johnson for president over his party's nominee, Donald Trump. Rigell, who has announced he will not run for re-election this year in his Virginia district, is the second Republican member of Congress to announce that he'll vote for someone other than Trump. Retiring New York Rep. Richard Hanna wrote in an op-ed for Syracuse.com this week that he'll instead back Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Rigell's announcement came in an interview with The New York Times published on Saturday, and Kaylin Minton, a spokeswoman for Rigell, confirmed the report's accuracy to CNN. Hanna and Rigell's defections come as other notable Republicans have said they will either not vote for Trump or will back other candidates. Earlier this week, longtime Chris Christie aide Maria Comella told CNN's Jamie Gangel she plans to vote for Clinton, and Sally Bradshaw, Jeb Bush's top adviser, told Gangel she's leaving the Republican Party over Trump and will vote for Clinton in Florida if the race there is close. And major GOP donor Meg Whitman announced earlier this week she'll support Clinton over Trump as well. Amid Republican infighting over its anti-establishment nominee, the Clinton and Johnson campaigns have sought to grow their bases of support. For example, Whitman said she backed Clinton following a direct phone call from the former secretary of state. Johnson said his campaign has reached out to Republican 2012 nominee Mitt Romney, who has pointedly refused to back Trump and said he's considering voting Libertarian. A spokeswoman for Rep. Mike Coffman, a Republican who hails from a competitive district in Colorado and recently put up a web video saying he "doesn't care" for Trump, said the congressman had spoken with Libertarian vice presidential nominee William Weld. Coffman has yet to declare his support for any candidate. http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/06/politics/scott-rigell-gary-johnson-endorsement/
