Didn't I just read somewhere on here that Erving is dinged up.. Wonder who's playing center.

Shobert and Shelton getting pressure on Kessler Oh if that was live, I'd be freaking out if I were that QB with Danny, which appears almost untouched and not phased off the line, gaining steam coming for your life. Cool pics though and thank you for sharing all these.

Look at Kessler's body and foot alignment. They don't look good, but at least if you are talking about the last picture, he may be breaking down to find another position. Looks like pressure up the middle and pressure from the right, so maybe it isn't a bad thing.

Mechanics tend to break down w/pressure. RGIII is a classic example of that.

Mechanics tend to break down w/pressure. RGIII is a classic example of that. I agree. All I am saying is we don't know the context of the PIC. Are those his mechanics breaking down or is the the QB breaking down getting ready to scramble? If the next few fames show him throwing...I agree, not a pretty picture. If they show him running for safer ground....no problem.

wow, coleman already the #1 WR ... not wasting any time
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I'm so HAPPY if Telfor really is going to be given a chance as the #2 TE, I just about had written him off for no time outside of the training table. Since he was drafted I've been wanting to see how this player can beast out with super athleticism!
If Mostert is the #3 Rb, I'm pretty excited about that too, I think there's going to be a need for a real tuff pile pusher, and If Mostert can fit that bill then Alright! Maybe he can develop.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

On-field observations from Day 9 of Browns training camp Posted 3 hours ago Andrew GribbleSenior Staff Writer@Andrew_Gribble Joe Haden’s long wait is over Joe Haden’s waited a long time to return to the practice field. The last thing Cleveland’s Pro Bowl cornerback wants to do is be back on the sidelines. His coach couldn’t agree more. Haden, who underwent ankle surgery during the offseason, was removed from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list Monday and participated in his first 2016 training camp practice. Haden was active in individual drills but remained on the sidelines whenever the Browns broke into team drills. Sometime soon, Haden will be back at full capacity. There just isn’t any reason to rush him back at this stage in the preseason. “We have a plan in place and we’re just going to take our time,” Browns coach Hue Jackson said after Monday’s practice. “It’s just great to have him back out there in a uniform and bouncing around. I’m excited about him being out there. He’s one of our better defensive players and one of the better players in the league. To get him back gives our whole defense a jolt. But we’re going to take our time and make sure he’s totally right.” Haden was asked if he had a goal for when he hoped to return to the field in a game capacity. He was adamant that his target date hasn’t changed. “September 11 is the only game I’m really worried about,” Haden said, referencing the date of Cleveland’s regular season opener at Philadelphia. “If they let me get in into any preseason, that would be sweet, but my main goal is just getting back by September 11.” Here’s what else happened at the Browns’ first practice since Saturday’s Orange and Brown Scrimmage. -- Austin Pasztor was the latest Browns offensive lineman to get a shot at the team’s opening at right tackle. Pasztor, whom the Browns acquired at the beginning of last season off waivers, started four games at left guard in 2015. He’d primarily been seen work at right guard since the start of training camp. Alvin Bailey and rookies Shon Coleman and Spencer Drango have also received extended looks at right tackle. “It’s unsettled until I say it’s settled,” Jackson said. “I don’t mean that in a bad way – I’m just saying we’re going to keep finding combinations. I told you I’m going to keep moving people around until I find the five best guys to put out there. So it’s no mark on anybody – I just want to see different combinations and see what’s going to be the best thing for us as we move forward.” Drango had been working with the first-team offense at right tackle until Monday’s switch. “The coaches are always evaluating guys,” Drango said. “I think the starting job is always up for grabs until that first regular season game. Other than that, I think you just have to keep working. Everyone out here is busting their butts trying to get on the 53.” -- Jackson said he expects wide receiver Josh Gordon (quadriceps) to return to practice “hopefully soon.” “I’m looking forward to getting him out here on the field with the rest of the guys,” Jackson said. “Even when he’s out here, I think you can see he’s into practice. The guy carries a script with him everywhere he goes. He’s making sure that he’s staying in it the best he can. I think when he walks back out there, I think he has something to prove, too. It’s good to have a guy with a chip on his shoulder.” -- Jackson doesn’t expect rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman (hamstring) to miss much time. Coleman did not participate in the Orange and Brown Scrimmage and was sidelined Monday. Coleman said he could have practiced Saturday but was sidelined for precautionary reasons. “I’m going to do whatever the trainers want me to do, if that’s me going or if that’s me just sitting out just resting, so we’re going to see,” Coleman said. -- Center Cameron Erving, fullback Malcolm Johnson and tight end Randall Telferwere back at practice Monday after missing different lengths of time last week with their respective injuries. http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/arti...95-05c1b0434c4e

5 things to know from Day 9 of Browns training camp Posted 2 hours ago Patrick MaksStaff WriterTwitter Reaction to Robert Griffin III being named starting QB, Danny Shelton’s ‘serious’ approach, handling Joe Haden’s return with care Not long after he was named the Browns’ starting quarterback, Robert Griffin III met with reporters Monday afternoon and spoke of maximizing his opportunity in Cleveland.“Coach (Hue Jackson), he gave me an opportunity to come to Cleveland to help do what he plans to do here and that’s turn this thing around and make it a consistent winner,” he said. “I think all the guys that he kept on the roster, all 90 guys that he kept are excited about that opportunity because there’s a lot of guys that aren’t playing football right now. The guys that are here, we’re focused on what coach has in mind and it’s what we all want. We all want to be winners and that’s what we’re working for." Against that backdrop, Jackson, who stressed the Browns would make a decision after careful and thorough evaluation, outlined the decision to name Griffin the starter. “I think it’s important for our team, for the organization, our fans, everybody. I think you make a decision. You stick by it,” he said after practice. “It’s what I believe needed to happen. It’s what our staff believed needed to happen. We’re looking forward to him doing a great job here this year.” ‘Our team can rally around that’ Speaking of quarterbacks, Josh McCown handled the decision to name Robert Griffin III the starter with the grace and poise of the 14-year veteran that he is. “Obviously as a competitor you want to play and you want to be the guy, but I understood kind of the direction we were going and so I’m excited for our team,” said McCown, who started eight games last season for the Browns. “I said this last time I talked that I’ve been on both ends of it and when the quarterback competitions, they drag out through training camp and stuff like that, and I don’t know if you’re any better off because then you have two guys that have had half reps so I think it’s great that we know who it is moving forward. We’re behind that guy and our team can rally around that.” McCown said he’ll continue to help mentor Griffin in addition to the other quarterbacks on the roster in Austin Davis and Cody Kessler. “No matter the circumstances, you try to help the person next to you as much as you can, help their journey in life whether it’s outside of football or inside of football be better,” McCown said. “And that ultimately when you’re on a team, and you get people that are doing that, then you have a chance to be successful.” Handle with care After March ankle surgery, Browns cornerback Joe Haden made his return to the practice field on Monday afternoon. But Cleveland is going to be smart about reintegrating the Pro Bowler, easing him into individual drills and other workouts. “We have a plan in place and we’re just going to take our time. It’s just great to have him back out there in a uniform and bouncing around,” Jackson said. Haden also made it clear he’s primarily focused on playing in the season opener against the Eagles on Sept. 11 and, because of that, it’s unclear if or how much time he’ll see in the Browns four preseason games. “I think they’re doing a really good job of just taking their time. I think a lot of it is precaution just making sure that they’re knowing there is no rush right now to get back,” he said. “But I’m trying to get back as soon as possible and whenever I’m ready at like full percent to be able to go, then they’ll put me back in there.” Slimmed-down Danny Shelton talks more ‘serious’ approach The Browns are set for Day 10 of training camp Tuesday, but second-year nose tackle Danny Shelton joked that it feels like it’s been more than a month. “I didn’t realize it’s only the second week. It feels like it’s been five weeks already,” he said, laughing, “but it’s been awesome hanging out with these new guys, new staff, new facility. Everything’s been awesome. I’m just excited to be out here playing.” Shelton, the 2015 first-round draft pick, is expected to play a key role on the Browns defense this season, especially after the loss of defensive end Desmond Bryant. In order to do so, Shelton lost about 35 pounds this past offseason in hopes of being a more-complete player. “I feel a lot lighter. I feel a lot quicker. I’m able to have more fun again,” he said. “I’m able to just be me.” Shelton, who’s known for lighthearted approach to life, added he’s trying to strike a balance between enjoying himself and dialing it when necessary. “Just going off of last year’s camp and this year’s camp, it’s been different for me in a sense of just taking on a new role and trying to be more focused and more serious about the game,” he said. “I mean, I’m still out here trying to have fun and everything, but at the same time, I want big things to happen for the Browns.” From left to right Rookie offensive lineman Spencer Drango has handled training camp with his head buried deep in the playbook and a workmanlike attitude. That approach has served him well as the first-year player from Baylor has seen first-team reps at right tackle. But trust that the former All American is still learning the finer points of holding down the other side of the line after starring at left tackle in college. “It’s definitely a big learning curve going from the left to the right. Technique is a little bit different, but you just have to get better every day,” said Drango, whom the Browns have asked to be versatile along the offensive line. “Other than in the spring, I played two years at right tackle in high school. Everything else has been left so I just have to overcome those tendencies I have at left and put them on the right side.” After all, Drango said he prides himself as a technician. And “technique right now is a little lacking on the right,” he said, “so I just have to keep working everyday to keep that up.” http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/arti...f2-96c2e625f20d

Browns Training Camp 2016: Day 9 Clips and Quips RG3 proved to be the story of the day, though Joe Haden (above, in stock photo) also made his return. By Joe Ginley @JoeGinley Aug 8, 2016, 10:21p The news became official today — the Browns have a new starting quarterback. Head coach Hue Jackson named Robert Griffin III as the starter today, a story that ruled the headlines for day nine of training camp in Berea. Jackson’s quotes, as always, come first, followed by the players’ thoughts. You can find Jackson’s full presser here, and the players’ transcripts here. Hue Jackson For the first time this training camp, Jackson did not have an opening statement, instead asking for questions. The first question was in regards to Joe Haden, who returned to action today. “We have a plan in place, and we’re just going to take our time. It’s just great to have him back out there in a uniform and bouncing around. I’m excited about him being out there. He’s one of our better defensive players and one the better players in the league. To get him back gives our whole defense a jolt. We’re going to take our time and make sure he is totally right. Obviously, he has had nothing as far as being with the team and practicing that way. We’ll ease him back into it. We have a plan and we’ll get him back there as soon as we can.” The obvious question, about RG3, came next. Jackson said he feels good about the choice, but it’s up to Griffin to validate the decision. “He played the way I think a quarterback has to play. I think he did it, flawlessly. I think he did everything I asked him to do. I know sometimes you guys judge it maybe a little differently than I do. I get that, but I think he did a great job. He has continued to do a great job, but again, he has got to continue to get better, too. By no stretch is this an excel moment. He has got to buckle down and still keep improving each and every day. That’s what the expectation is for that position [...] Now, he has to do the work, but we’ve made a commitment to him and he has to go make it right.” Speaking of Griffin, Jackson provided this interesting insight into the offense. It comes as no surprise that the quarterback is the focal point of the offense, but the extent of the quarterback’s importance is a tad bit surprising. “It’s all about the quarterback. Our football team is driven by the quarterback so everything we do on offense is about the quarterbacks. It’s not about the running backs. It’s not about the line. It’s about the quarterback. How do we make him successful? We all know if the quarterback plays well, then the team normally plays very well. My job, (associate head coach – offense) Pep’s (Hamilton) job, the rest of our staff’s job is to make the quarterback as comfortable as we can and have him play the best that he can play.” Josh Gordon is still out due to injury, even though he’s been technically reinstated. As Jackson said, Gordon needs to lose some weight, but Jackson likes the wide receiver’s initiative. “He’ll be the first to tell you that. He does. We’re working through that process, too. He’s done a great job, off of the field, obviously. Even when he’s out here, I think you can see he is into practice. The guy carries a script with him everywhere he goes. He’s making sure that he’s staying in it the best he can. When he walks back out there, I think he has something to prove too. It’s good to have a guy with a chip on his shoulder.” At the end of his presser, Jackson talked about the many hamstring injuries in camp this season. “They are totally unavoidable. I think we’ve done a good job because I don’t think guys are staying out a long time. I don’t see (WR) Corey’s (Coleman) being something that’s going to keep him out for a long period of time. Obviously, Hawk (WR Andrew Hawkins) has had a history of hamstrings a little bit. We need to do that better, figure out a way to where that doesn’t get him. I remember the play when it happened. It happened with him putting his foot into the ground. Sometimes those things happen. It’s unfortunate. I think our guys have done a great job. The amount of running that these men do, and what I ask them to do is quite a bit. The guys have done a good job thus far, but we do have to guard against the soft tissue injuries. On a final note, John Hughes III remains out due to a personal issue, which Jackson decided not to touch more on. QB Robert Griffin III Following the big announcement, Griffin explained the feeling of winning the competition.RG3 sounded business-like at first, but did open up about persevering through the tough times in Washington. “No, there’s no sense of relief. You come out every day for an opportunity. I’m thankful that to (Head) Coach (Hue Jackson) that he believes in me. I’m thankful my teammates believe in me. I’m just going to get ready for today’s practice, go out and get ready for Green Bay [...] Everything that you go through in life is a lesson. It’s up to you to decide to use lesson that in a positive or negative way. Since I got here, I’ve been really thankful for the opportunity because they don’t come around that often. When you get one, you have to seize it.” WR Corey Coleman The Browns’ new #1 wideout is not a flashy guy off the field, at least in front of the media, which is clear after observing his press conferences. Coleman did not talk much during his presser, dismissing fears about his “sore hamstring.” However, Coleman did give RG3 this bit of praise. “He’s the starting quarterback. He throws the ball just as good as anybody. Deep ball is beautiful. He has a lot of touch on it. He knows where to put it. He has a really strong arm.” OL Spencer Drango One of the young stars in camp, Drango has fought hard for the starting spot at right tackle, and just might earn it. We knew Drango fit more as a guard coming into the league, but Drango’s complete lack of experience at right tackle is interesting. “Other than in the spring, I played two years at right tackle in high school. Everything else has been left so I just have to overcome those tendencies I have at left and put them on the right side [...] I think of myself as a technician. Technique right now is a little lacking on the right so I just have to keep working every day to keep that up. As we go forward, that’s what I pride myself on.” CB Joe Haden After receiving medical clearance from the training staff today, Haden spoke to the media. The veteran spoke only of the injury, saying his only concern is making it back for the Browns’ first game on September 11. “I think they’re doing a really good job of just taking their time. I think a lot of it is precaution, just making sure that they know there is no rush right now to get back. I’m trying to get back as soon as possible, and whenever I’m ready at like full percent to be able to go, then they’ll put me back in there.” QB Josh McCown As great as today’s news was for RG3, it was great for McCown. The wizened vet still said the process was fair and RG3 is playing well so far in camp. McCown seems willing to help out RG3,Cody Kessler, and Austin Davis, which bodes well for the Browns. “Obviously, as a competitor, you want to play. You want to be the guy, but I understood the direction we were going. I’m excited for our team. I said this last time that I talked: I’ve been on both ends of it. When the quarterback competitions kind of drag out through training camp, I don’t know if you’re any better off because then you have two guys that kind of had half reps. I think it’s great that we know who it is. Moving forward, we’re behind that guy. Our team can rally around that guy, and we can move forward accordingly. Robert is certainly plying at a high level right now, and that’s exciting. As a competitor, you want to be on the field, you want to play, there’s no question about that. At the same time, it’s so much bigger. It’s about the team. Now, that question is settled and we can go move forward in our game planning this week for Green Bay and ultimately for Philly Week 1.” WR Terrelle Pryor Few players have improved in training camp as much as Pryor. Surprisingly, his approach to practice is fairly simple. “Like I said before, every day I just try to pick one thing and work on it. I can’t think of 30 things and then go on the field and expect to make that expectation. That’s how I depend on [improving]. There’s one day, the scrimmage, I went without catching a ball, but my whole going into that, my whole mentality was blocking and getting on the angles of blocks. I thought I got better that day for me. That’s what this game is about – picking things, one or two things and going out there and trying to execute it.” Also, an interesting tidbit on RG3: “He’s chill. He’s really relaxed. He FaceTimes his daughter and his wife a lot. He’s a family guy. He’s teammate first. He’s awesome. You guys would love him as a teammate or somebody that you work with. He’s awesome.” DL Danny Shelton Following a tough rookie campaign, the Hawaiian native lost weight over the offseason, drawing positive reviews from the coaches. Shelton also had positive words for the new staff, which might interest Browns fans. “I think everybody is on the same page. I think that’s the biggest difference. That’s the biggest thing people can see is that we have every position group, everyone as far as class from rookie to two years to 13 years, everybody is on the same page. Everybody has bought in to (Head) Coach (Hue) Jackson’s system. It’s going great.” That’s it for tonight’s edition of Clips and Quips. We’ll see you back here at DBN tomorrow for day ten of training camp. http://www.dawgsbynature.com/2016/8/...lips-and-quips

5 Browns players whose stock has declined since the start of camp 9 By Chris Pokorny @DawgsByNature Aug 8, 2016, 9:33a Recently, we looked at five Browns players whose stock has improved since the start of training camp. Today, we’ll look at the opposite: five players whose stock has declined since the start of camp. These are players who typically had something to prove, but have not been able to make an impact either due to injury, or due to performance. 1. FB Malcolm Johnson: When I went to an early training camp session in 2015, I was impressed by the effort that Luke Lundy was showing at the fullback position. One of those effort plays led to a concussion, and when you’re not on the practice field for a couple of weeks (and don’t have a long body of work), you become a forgotten man. That could be the case with Johnson, who has missed the majority of camp with a concussion so far. When Hue Jacksonand company looked at the tape last year, I highly doubt that they came away with a positive perception of Johnson’s capabilities. The one thing Johnson has going for him is that there isn’t much competition at the position in camp. However, the fact that urgency hasn’t been placed on finding a replacement at the position might also spell doom for Johnson, as it could indicate how small of a premium that Jackson is putting on it. 2. WR Ricardo Louis: With Andrew Hawkins, Terrelle Pryor, at some point Josh Gordon, and possibly Marlon Moore all making the roster, the odds don’t suggest that all four of the Browns’ drafted receivers will make the roster. We know for sure that first-round pickCorey Coleman will make it. Prior to camp starting, despite being the team’s final receiver taken, we projected Rashard Higgins would look polished and secure a roster spot, and he’s delivered to date. Jordan Payton has done a good job getting open the past couple of practices. The man left out of the equation then is Ricardo Louis, a fourth-round pick. DBN’s Mike Krupka (who just conducted a film study on Louis) asked Lane Adkins of The OBR on Twitter about Louis, and Adkins indicated that his trouble hanging on to passes has remained an issue: Follow LA @TheRealLA__ @MJHIvolleyball@TheOBR // Inconsistent hands, speed can top off D, but has to catch the rock consistently 9:12 PM - 7 Aug 2016 Retweets 11 like Every NFL team has seven players they can name inactive on gameday to be somewhat of an extension of the practice squad, without subjecting a player to waivers. That could be what the team does if they really want to maintain him as a long-term receiving prospect. Otherwise, he could just end up like Vince Mayle from a year ago. 3. TE Seth DeValve: One player many fans got themselves excited about after this year’s draft was DeValve, because you always fantacize in the back of your head, “what if this guy turns out to be a gem at the position?” Instead, DeValve, who was going to be a receiving project to begin with, has missed all of camp with a hamstring injury and has been overshadowed by an unknown in Connor Hamlett, as described in our stock-rising post. 4. CB Justin Gilbert: With CB Joe Haden still out after ankle surgery and CB Tramon Williams often taking rest, perhaps there’s just one reason why our quarterbacks and receivers have been so successful this camp: Gilbert has been running with the first-team defense at cornerback. We’ve heard that his attitude and commitment have improved, but unfortunately, his technique has not. Follow All22ChalkTalk @All22ChalkTalk NEVER lunge in press. Corey Coleman breaking off Gilbert with in-out release and clears inside arm with swim move. 1:46 AM - 3 Aug 2016 167167 Retweets 194194 likes They’re giving Gilbert all the opportunities to learn quickly, but I think his first-team status does not guarantee him a roster spot. If he doesn’t show improvement, it won’t be long before other players receive a shot to play over him. 5. K Travis Coons: We haven’t heard a lot about the kicker competition in camp so far, so we probably shouldn’t read too much into makes/misses. We haven’t even heard anything about whether Patrick Murray is making field goals or not, for example. However, heading into camp, we knew that Coons struggled with converting on long-range kicks last year, while that was Murray’s strength back in 2014. Over the past few days, one video surfaced of Coons coming up just short on a 50-yard field goal in Berea. A day later, it was reported that he missed a long-range kick, but a penalty gave him another crack at it, which he made. Recently, special teams coordinator Chris Tabor stressed that it’s a make-or-miss league, and the competition is open: “In special teams, I think everything is legitimate from the standpoint because we’re at the bottom of the roster and you’re always churning the bottom of the roster. At that position, those guys know it’s about makes and misses. To have a guy like Patrick come in and here compete for job, it’s a legitimate job. If he does better than what Travis does, then obviously there’s talk.” http://www.dawgsbynature.com/2016/8/8/12...e-start-of-camp

As I predicted months ago, Coons will not make this team. Not enough leg.

Yeah, I can see Coons being cut for the new kicker from Miami

Also, I'd agree about Devalve. It looks like PS may be his only way on

Also, I'd agree about Devalve. It looks like PS may be his only way on Perhaps. However, his situation kind of reminds me of Jordan Cameron when we drafted him. As a rookie, he was only active for about half the games, and he did very little in those games. (maybe a handful of catches) He was so-so as a 2nd year pro. However, in his 3rd season, he really came on. He was another big bodied kid, who was very, very raw. However the team kept him on the roster, and let him develop. I suspect that we'll do the same with DeValve. (who shares the last name of one of my best friends) It usually takes a TE who is drafted outside of the 1st couple of rounds a year or 2 to fully develop to the point where they can play and not create as many problems as they solve. I think that the team realized, when they drafted him, that they would have to develop him as a blocker, because he hadn't had to block inline in college. They also knew that he was recovering from the foot surgery. I think that he makes the team as a stash/developmental kid, if they are at all afraid that someone might grab him on waivers. Who knows? Maybe the foot will not allow him to practice, and he will wind up on IR? At this point, before we have even played a single pre-season game, it is way too early to know much of anything.

Agreed. He needs to develop as a blocker ... at least to become adequate. IR is probably a good bet for him at this point.

Man...........looking at that depth chart is depressing. I wonder if there is a NFL roster that is worse? Maybe San Fran?

So it’s no mark on anybody – I just want to see different combinations and see what’s going to be the best thing for us as we move forward.” I hope Hue will at least look at trying Pasztor at LG and Bitonio at RT. Pasztor played fairly well at LG last year and Bitonio was a LT in college. I see that the OL is in a state of flux right now, thus it might be worth a look.

I think Gilbert becomes another bench rider, someone in the back of the line as soon as Haden comes back and participates fully.
Haden and Williams are going to be the starters, Kuan will be nickel. Bank on it.

IIRC, once Pasztor started seeing playing time late last year we started to run the ball effectively. Maybe that's just a coincidence but maybe it isn't.

At 6'7", 308 lbs, he has the size of an OT. I do not know about his wingspan or how good is his technique, but he is certainly much taller than a "traditional" OG. Seems worthwhile to look at him at OT...

True, and that is definitely a feasible possibility for someone who has done virtually nothing.
I still can't believe Ray, Mike or freaking anybody didn't even meet with Gilbert before drafting him. As Vers would say... gag. Haha.
