I got a feeling our new coach will not put up with a lot of bs, considering all the recent transgressions of various players. Send a message if needed.

It says in the article sources told Cabot he could be considering retirement. Really? It must be nice. He's 25 years old.
I think it's more sour grapes than anything.

Browns and nickelback K'Waun Williams in a messy situation, and it might not end well By Mary Kay Cabot, cleveland.com BEREA, Ohio — The Browns and nickelback K'Waun Williams are in the midst of a messy situation, and it may not end well. The club and Williams are at odds over the events of Friday night's preseason game in Green Bay, and Williams' future with the club is now in jeopardy. At the very least, there's a disconnect between Williams and the team about what's going on with him. "We'll talk about that at a different time,'' Hue Jackson said Tuesday. "I just think there are a lot of mixed messages that are going on as far as all that's concerned. We'll deal with it, and I'm sure we'll all talk about it at the appropriate time." A source told cleveland.com that Williams suffered an ankle injury during the Orange and Brown scrimmage at Ohio State when covering Rashard Higgins on a pass from Robert Griffin III and received treatment afterwards by a member of the training staff. When Williams got to Green Bay for the Packers game Friday night, he determined that the ankle was too sore, and scratched himself from the game. Deciding to sit was not well-received by the Browns, who announced that he was inactive for a personal reason. Apparently, they were not clear on the ankle pain. The Browns' starting nickelback the past two seasons, Williams has not returned to Berea for training camp. Multiple sources said Williams may have given the Browns the impression he was retiring. But another league source told cleveland.com that Williams has been away seeking a second opinion on his ankle from an independent specialist in Charlotte, N.C. or elsewhere. "There is conflicting information on the history of his ankle,'' the source said. Williams also has also suffered multiple concussions over the past two years, but the source said his absence has nothing to do with that. He said Williams' plan is to return to the Browns as soon as he has the second opinion, which he might also get in Cleveland. But the door might be closed to him by then. Asked Tuesday if Williams was back in town yet, Jackson said, "I'm not going to even comment on that right now." Jackson's tone was completely different when asked about defensive end John Hughes, who missed nine practices and the Green Bay game because of a personal reason. "It's exciting to have him back,'' Jackson said. "Obviously, he's been with us through all of the off-season. Obviously, there is some catching up to do but he's been in the system, was there in OTAs and around the coaches. Hopefully, he can get back up to speed quickly." Williams, in the last year of a contract that pays him $600,000 this year, has been in a battle for the starting nickel job with Jamar Taylor, the former second-round pick of the Dolphins who was acquired in a draft day trade. Now, it appears the job is Taylor's — unless Williams can work himself back into the good graces of the team. "In Jamar's case, he's a true professional,'' defensive backs coach Louie Cioffi said last week. "He's embraced the challenge. He's come in and he's worked really hard both on and off the field. He takes coaching really well. He really has a really good athletic skillset. He can play both on the outside and he can play inside. Like I said, I'm excited to see him play in games. I'm glad we got him." Coiffi cited Taylor's "knowledge of football, his awareness of football, just being a natural football player, No.1, but then his really good quickness, that really helps when you're inside there'' as reasons he'll make a good nickel. Cioffi preferred not to dwell on why Taylor didn't pan out in Miami. "I don't know what they were asked to do,'' Cioffi. "All I know is what we coach and what we expect from them." Last season, Williams, signed by the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh in 2014, totaled 38 tackles, one sack, two passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He's been a quality defensive back the past two seasons, but unless the two sides can get on the same page soon, his career here might be over.

Browns suspend K'Waun Williams 2 weeks and fine him 1 check for not playing in Green Bay By Mary Kay Cabot, cleveland.com BEREA, Ohio — Browns cornerback K'Waun Williams has been suspended for two weeks and one game check by the Browns for refusing to play in Green Bay, league sources told cleveland.com. The game check amounts to $36,647 — 1/17th of his $640,000 salary. Technically, he was suspended for violation of team rules. A source said Williams left Green Bay claiming he was going to retire and then came back the next day saying his ankle was injured.

I don't blame him for being upset about this. The guy comes in and works his arse off as an undrafted free agent. You can argue he's been our best ...or at least most consistent corner the last couple years. He's been an excellent nickel guy. I imagine his tape is very good. And he earned it. New regime comes in and wants to give his playing time to a guy who's been a borderline bust. They want to give his job to a guy who hasn't earned it. But hey the new guy is well...new. Like a shiny new toy. So instead of rewarding the players that do it the right way...Mack, Schwartz, Gipson, Benjamin, and now Williams...the team alienates them. Or let's them go. I like Hue. Seems like a good coach, but man is this team hard to root for.

Hue Jackson has said all along that every job, besides left tackle, is open for competition.
Jamar Taylor is not a shiny new object, he is an equal to Williams who is acting entitled.

Jamar Taylor is not a shiny new object, he is an equal to Williams who is acting entitled. Just like the QB job was? I think 95% of fans are going to share your opinion. I don't mind being in the 5%. There was never any issue with Williams professionalism the last couple years. There was at least one article on what a hard worker he was. Maybe he's a little tired of the "competition". I just find it strange that this staff is alienating one of our up and coming players because I'm sure someone had a crush on Taylor three years ago and his team didn't land him and now with the Browns had a chance to get him. I mean to hear Cioffi gush about the guy, he better be good and better be as good or better than Williams.

It's kind of amazing how many people have chosen a side in this based on a narrative built on little more than some rumors and speculation

New staff comes in and everything opens up.
Yeah, RG3 got his job with little competition, but that happens with QBs. Williams is a solid slot corner, who has a fairly substantial injury history. There has never been a record of any feeling of entitlement, but who knows what happens when a new staff comes in, and systems change, and so do depth charts.
Hopefully it all works out, and Williams get his head back in the game. We cannot afford to lose a solid CB on this team.

Sounds like Williams is being a child who didn't get his way
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

It's funny that almost every single poster who has replied automatically placed all the blame on Williams and none on the team. Gee, that's shocking. I am not going to pretend that I know what happened, but I will say that this team already had huge issues in the secondary and losing Williams would not be a good thing for.........you know........the team. Oh, and can we please stop the rhetoric that Hue doesn't put up w/stuff. He allowed a player to play in a game the same week that the player pulled and fired a gun at another man. Keep it real, folks.

Jamar Taylor is not a shiny new object, he is an equal to Williams who is acting entitled. Agreed. We all have responsibilities that go with our job. That's how it works. If I don't show up to the tugboat, I'm looking for a new job. And if I'm late to watch, someone is dragging me out of bed and then saying a bunch of mean things about me. Then when they have to relieve me, I'll be working extra for all the minutes I took from them. That's how it goes. We can call it a game all we want, but this game is their job. This is too bad though. When healthy, Williams has been one of our quality players. I wouldn't be surprised if he is contemplating retirement though. He's had a number of concussions. Probably is frustrated with the game and having to fit in with a new coaching staff.

While I want to wait for more info, there is one stat that kinda says something about this. 90 players in camp, and this is the only one they seem to be having issues with (publicly)? 89 to 1. Kinda tells a story

With his concussion history, maybe he seriously is considering retiring.
I know Hue words and his body actions displayed nothing but great disgust and disdain when asked about Williams in the presser.
Who knows what's going on. The dB coach said Taylor can play inside and out, I doubt Williams can play outside so Kuan might be working himself outta a roster spot if his attitude is getting the best of him. He did go undrafted, we gave him a shot when other teams passed up on him.

I'll post the link for the full article, but here is an excerpt from it: The last straw was when Rolando McClain was arrested for shooting a gun by a guy's head while in Alabama for his grandfather's funeral, he met up with the team in Miami for their week 13 game against the Dolphins and missed exactly ONE snap. I believe he lost the team that day and it is no coincidence the then 7-4 team lost four of the last five games and missed the playoffs on the final game of the season. http://www.thephinsider.com/2016/1/7/107...oakland-raidersLook, I like Hue and I think he was a good hire. I will most likely be supporting him while others are calling for his head. I just like to keep things real. For instance, we were discussing Hue's prowess as a qb guru, and some people said that Pryor had his best year ever at qb while Hue was his coach. The reality is that Pryor didn't play qb that year. I think he might have gotten a snap. Maybe not? But, he sure as hell didn't have his best year. Just trying to keep things real. I hope that's okay????

j/c... K'Waun Williams suspended two weeks by BrownsThe Cleveland Browns are suspending cornerback K'Waun Williams for two weeks -- one game check -- for the ongoing dispute regarding his physical status, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday, according to several sources informed of the situation. On Wednesday, the Browns confirmed Williams has been suspended for "multiple violations of team rules." Williams is currently seeking a second opinion on an ankle injury that has sidelined the nickelback, Rapoport reported. The team offered Williams the opportunity to have a full workload in last week's preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, but the third-year player balked, citing he was not ready to take the field. The Browns saw his behavior as detrimental to the team and subsequently issued the two-week suspension, per Rapoport. As Rapoport notes, Williams has been at odd with the team for some time. Jamar Taylor is currently starting nickel cornerback. Williams signed with the Browns in 2014 as an undrafted free agent. Link

Something isn't adding up. Hue sat Pryor because he thought he might get hurt with the calf issue, and has been sitting people with "tightness."
Supposedly Williams hurt the ankle at the scrimmage, but nothing was said until almost a full week later and he decided to hold himself out of the game.
I don't know anything, but if I had to guess, I'd say K'Waun may have done something stupid away from the team to hurt himself and was trying to pass it off as something football related.
Hopefully whatever is going on with the ankle is not serious and things get straightened out.

I always liked K'Waun but, lets be honest...he is concussion prone and possibly one or two away from retiring. Also, who knows the truth or the full story but, if it turns out that he is grumpy because Taylor has challenged his position then maybe it would be best to go with Taylor. We don't need people who are not buying into the system or who are entitled and apathetic. Been there done that...move on from them. As somebody said (Rappaport?)...the Niners would make sense..wonder what they would give us?

K'waun Williams must have stolen some of Justin Gilberts attitude...
K'waun is one concussion from calling it a career...He is very tiny and limited to nickel and dime inside roles...However he is scrappy and swivels his hips well and if it wasn't for his injuries he'd be a solid-good CB...
Hopefully things get resolved...however this doesnt look pretty...
Just pondering if he's trying to hide an injury that is going to end his career and perhaps Browns highlighted it...perhaps scaling down his injury settlement...Because honestly this a cheap ass team nowadays

JMHO, Kwaun not with team in GB, not with team upon return from GB....employee AWOL...team suspends him...money out of his pocket...those are facts/ I think. Who suspends players/fines them...coach or GM or both.....my opinion, Kwaun not winning competition at NB, is concerned about concussions (smart) and ankle...bottomline, employees don't leave on their own with consequences...FO, message sent, it is a good one......GO Browns!!!! PS Do people learn from mistakes made in past, maybe...Hue probably regrets playing the gun shooter, this time around I doubt he'd play him...JMHO.

Note: I did not jump to any conclusions. I clearly said "who knows if the story is true but IF it turns out to be"...then we should readdress his roster spot. We are the last team that needs another primadonna in our locker room.
