I know, right? I had the good sense to add you to my ignore list, but I find myself unable to resist clicking on your posts every once in awhile. I should know that 9 times out of 10 it will be the same childish drivel. I know expecting each post to be that 1 that is worthwhile is silly. I guess I'll just have to do without.

Having Ogbah be a standout shouldn't be that surprising given his draft position. If it turns out that way.

IMO Ogbah should be a difference maker in order to be considered worthy of his draft slot.

Basically a 1st round pick .. and by all accounts there was a nice deal from Dallas on the table

I don't know what offer might have been there from Dallas, if indeed there was one, but at some point a team needs start selecting players and forget about picks.

i'll try to find the link ... IIRC it was their #34 and a 4th rounder, but i agree

You don't need to find a link on a possible ADallas offer...I seem to recall some talk about it...I think at that point we had all the picks we needed. I also read, or maybe heard on the Browns radio show that we had Ogbaugh with a mid 1st round grade...about the same as Coleman. If so, I can see why we didn't trade.

Benoit very easily could have just gone off of assumptions, previous comments/reports, etc

My bad, Benoit called it "Scouting Cleveland." It does not seem like he was a Browns camp. With that said, I agree with most of what he is saying.

I feel like I had read that actual article before. It's like they took a preseason outlook article, changed the date, and put training camp in the title.

It's not that there is anything wrong with the article itself. It just seemed kind of out of place. MMQB is usually pretty "cutting edge"/current.

MMQB is stupid now that it isn't just a column written by Peter King.
He *IS* the MMQB - not these other hacks they hired to spin his column into a brand.

As for the article - much (most?) of it is true, but Item #3 is beyond stupid. I'm betting the dude is just a Jets fan that thinks we'd trade Joe Thomas to them for a 2nd rounder, lol.

Probably pissed because he may be losing his "starter" slot to Meder. Maybe he'll end up with an "ankle injury" too.

CLEVELAND BROWNS TRAINING CAMP REPORT - DAY 14 (8/16/16)

1. John Hughes is Back: After a two-week absence, the Cleveland Browns have gotten a key piece of their defensive line back in John Hughes. My suspicion was correct that this was something family-related. As this was his first day back, the team just had him work on the stationary bike, probably so he can help get himself back into shape. Don’t expect him to play in Thursday’s game against Atlanta, but he should be able to go the following week against the Buccaneers.

2. Thomas Misses 3rd Straight Practice: LT Joe Thomas sat out his third straight practice due to his back issue. At this point, it’s basically the, “you’re a Hall of Famer, take whatever time you need” type of deal for Thomas. Thomas is expected to sit Thursday’s game against Atlanta, but he’ll still try to catch up with former teammate Alex Mack.

3. Josh Gordon in Team Drills: Continuing to take steps forward, WR Josh Gordon participated in team drills for the first time this camp. He’s still aiming for next week’s preseason game to make his debut. Here is a clip of him working during practice: [Video can be seen via the link. FWIW he looked pretty smooth on that route.]

4. First Fight of Camp: The Browns had their first fight of training camp, and it doesn’t sound like head coach Hue Jackson was too happy about it. The skirmish pitted NT Danny Shelton against reserve OL Kaleb Johnson. Reporters say that Jackson immediately called the team in for a huddle to re-inforce the rules about such incidents. Johnson had to leave the field with a trainer with his right eye closed. After practice, Jackson had this to say: "I'm not interested in fights, I'm interested in good football players, we've got to keep our poise."

5. Brownies: As reported earlier, CB K’Waun Williams might have an ankle injury. ... WR Dennis Parks had to leave with some form of an injury. ... The reason that DL Jamie Meder isn’t replacing DE Nick Hayden this week might be because DE John Hughes will be in that role long-term. ... QB Austin Davis remains in the concussion protocol and won’t play against the Falcons. ... WR Rannell Hall is now on the Browns’ injured reserve list after going unclaimed on waivers. ... Today was not listed as a practice date on the Browns’ training camp schedule, but apparently it was. ... They will definitely be off on Wednesday.

Again, I don't think they are replacing Shelton w/Meder. I think they are playing them together.

Thanks ... that seems strange to me, but we'll see how it works

I think Hue is looking to put the best players on the field and the line is in a state of flux right now.

Additionally, we both know that defensive linemen rotate a lot, thus I don't think who is named the "starter" is as big of a deal as it is w/other spots.

I agree about the rotation stuff ... especially once the real games begin.

It'll be interesting what happens once Hughes enters the mix full time

Looks like we are really gonna push the situational rotation this year. We have Cooper at NT on obvious passing downs.

Yeah, no doubt that will be the plan since he's been out. Ultimately though, I'd expect to see Hughes and Cooper at end with Meder Rotating with Shelton at NT. Unless Shelton starts outshining Meder, I guess I'm also expecting to see Meder in there more often.

Hopefully this isn't something that gets the ire (or attention) of the NFLPA. We don't need to be breaking any practice rules.

If he can't be stout in the middle, this might be the best option.

I think a part of Shelton's problem was situational. I think he was supposed to control two gaps, but Green Bay was running zone stretch plays. Their whole line seemed to be moving horizontally taking his gap(s) with them. It's hard to anchor North-South while moving East-West. It's hard to know what exactly was going on without knowing the play call. They may have been playing more read and react to start the game, but got more aggressive as the game went on. Not necessarily what happened, but a possible explanation I landed on while trying to replay the game in my head. I might have to watch the game again. I wish I had the All-22 view.

I don't know why it wouldn't be a practice day, they only had three days to get ready for Atlanta as it was. Maybe just a glitch in the public schedule.
