Doggone it! It looks like we dodge Chris Sale in this series with the White Sox. What a disappointment! shucks

well Allen just imploded...seriously, i get as nervous watching him as wickman..he doesn't have very good control..His defense let him down too....Lindor needs to swallow that ball. But man Allen struggled the whole inning. After loading the bases i would have yanked him. Still 6 games up

Stupid Boston. They had a 2-run lead in the 8th. Blew it, just like us last night.

Baseball rule changes incoming? http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb...hifts/88960724/HOUSTON - Major League Baseball, alarmed by the game’s lack of action this season is considering making the most radical changes to the game in more than a century.
The owners spent time Thursday discussing and reviewing how the game has changed over the years, with offenses suffocated by a record number of shifts and pitching changes, leading to longer games and less production.
Commissioner Rob Manfred said that baseball will consider limiting the number of pitching changes in the future, as well as curtailing the amount of shifts, and even implementing a 20-second time clock for pitchers to deliver a pitch.
“Our view of the pitch clock is that we feel it’s been effective in the minor leagues,’’ Manfred said, “we really do. I think when you look at our experience with the effort we undertook last year, and you look month-by-month in terms of where we were in terms of game time, we did really well early and kind of regressed the second half of last year, and certainly this year.
USA TODAY Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner OK with A-Rod playing elsewhere
“Our evaluation of that is, the more we can have on the field, constant reminders so it’s in front of people’s minds, the better off we are in terms of continuing to move the game along. And I think the clock is probably the quintessential example of the reminder that keeps pace in people’s minds.
“And, quite frankly, the data shows that people don’t violate the 20-second. With or without a clock. It’s a reminder that moves things along.”
When asked if he would like to see the clock implemented perhaps as early as next season, Manfred didn’t hesitate.
“I would,’’ he said. “I said yes because there’s no temporal assigned to that.”
While pitch clocks might speed up the game, infield shifts already do - perhaps too much for Manfred's liking. Manfred said research indicated that there were 2,400 infield shifts just five years ago; this season, major league clubs are on pace for 28,000 shifts, limiting offenses. “I’m not saying that’s necessarily a bad thing,’’ Manfred said, “but it has ramifications for what people see when they buy that ticket to go to the ballpark. We just wanted to point out this whole series of changes that has occurred over time, very naturally, in the game and pose the question of whether or not we should be managing that change more aggressively.”

Limiting the number of pitching changes is just asinine. So is limiting the number of shifts. This isn't tee ball. Teams play offense at the plate, and they play defense when they are on the field. Why play only partial defense when you know you can do better?

God Salazar is exactly what I said he was earlier in the year. Gets worse as the season progresses. You can't trust him in playoffs

Does anyone else think our outfielders leave a bit to be desired, been seeing a lot of balls it seems most outfielders make not made. Like the hit that cleared the bases, it wasn't hit that hard but looked like guyer was playing way up

All that doom and gloom, but Naquin saves the day.
Give that kid ROTY. I hope Salazar can pull himself back together.

That's actually the reason Naquin split time between Cleveland and Columbus. Tito thought the defense needed a little work, and Naquin got a little better.
I think Lonnie's doing a fantastic job, though. His laser of an arm keeps everyone honest.
We do the best with what our team can afford.

We do the best with what our team can afford. Yeah he's one that i was referring to, he's had a hard time defensively for the most part, he def. doesn't have the glove brantley does, but what he's been able to do as a rookie offensively is pretty encouraging.. Lonnie is doing exceptional considering he's not a natural outfielder. I think once september callups come around we'll bring up a couple. Almonte can't play in post season anyways so no sense in playing him much down the stretch. Ramirez has been a HUGE upgrade over the statue Uribe...god that guy had zero left. What's funny is we got 30 home runs so far off the scrap heap with napoli, i don't think anyone thought that was coming.. Nice win tonight, Clevinger came in and really settled the game down and allowed us to get our bearings...Salazar just needs to be sent somewhere..60 day DL or something, he's broken right now, leave Clevinger in the rotation. I really thought if we were going to move a pitcher for a bat it was going to be Danny. Now Bauer and Tomlin need to get their crap together. But the bullpen really came through tonight. Offense wasn't explosive but they chipped away and put themselves in a great position. I was flipping between them and browns..and to think Cavs start in a month

Naquin also needed to learn discipline at the plate and cut down on strikeouts. He's improved in both aspects.
Agreed, he's got my vote for ROY.
On a side note, Ramirez for AL MVP or at least in the discussion?

On a side note, Ramirez for AL MVP or at least in the discussion? Ramirez who? Jose? He's the third best position player on his own team. There are literally dozens of players ahead of him (Trout, Altuve, Betts, Lindor, Kipnis, Donaldson, Machado, and many more). I'd be very surprised if he gets even one down ballot vote Naquin also needed to learn discipline at the plate and cut down on strikeouts. He's improved in both aspects.
Agreed, he's got my vote for ROY. Naquin and Fullmer are the only two really in contention for rookie of the year.

Last night's comeback win offsets the previous night. We really had no business winning a game when our starter leaves the game after the first inning with 3 ERs. The bulley was awesome last night (too bad we can't give them a rest day for a while, unless tonight's starter can go deep).

Back-to-back homers to win in the 9th. Nice.
And the Tigers are getting their teeth kicked in too.

The great thing about this team is that no matter the score they are never out of the game as exemplified by the last 2 games.
The crappy thing is that no matter the score the other team is never out of the game, demonstrated by the 9th inning collapse against the White Sox.
Is buttcheeks one word? Or should I spread them apart?

that should help out Naquin's quest for ROTY!
And Ramirez, wow, what a year as well! So much fun to watch this team this year!

What an incredible game! Two nights in a row with the game winning hit for Naquin.
Ramirez for AL MVP?!? (I'm pushing the vote cfrs)
Great job by Bauer tonight after a shaky first. 13 Ks. 5 in a row late in the game.
This team is something special.
Go Tribe!

And the video of the dugout was hilarious!

I've been playing No Man's Sky since I got home, but kept checking the score. I tuned in right after JRam hit his, and heard the call live of Naquin's at bat.
