If he does screw up, he's gone, we replace his roster spot with someone else, and we don't have to worry about him. Same things were said in 2013, 2014, 2015, and now in 2016.

I think with Gary and all the hype on Coleman smoking people in practice and the players we do have, we don't need Josh to be able to distribute the ball. That part wasn't comical. Of course we don't need Josh. But he's another potential weapon. A great one. It isn't like a cup of water where at some point the glass is full and anything extra is just waste. You can't say he is worse than our most bottom of the barrel receiver. Besides, as I said, we have until week 5 to decide what to do with him. He's still suspended, so he won't take up a roster spot until then. Scorpion or not, I'm gonna give Gordon my best wishes. Because a formation with Gordon in it generally always sounds better to me than one without him in it.....

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Josh is taking up a roster spot right now and he will continue to take up a roster spot while serving his 4 game suspension. On a side note rumor has it Tom Brady cut the thumb he uses to deflate footballs and won't start until his second week back which will be against the Bengals.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Josh is taking up a roster spot right now and he will continue to take up a roster spot while serving his 4 game suspension. If this was the case, what about two years ago when Josh couldn't play until our 12th game? We had him taking up a roster spot that whole time, or is it PUP? ---------- Here's what I found Suspended List Players who have been suspended by the NFL are not eligible for PUP (unless they have an injury that’s going to prevent them from practicing). Those players are allowed to practice and play in preseason games. Once the final roster cut down date hits, though, any player that’s been handed a suspension goes on an inactive or reserve list and does NOT count against the 53-man roster.
If the Giants were to keep receiver Brandon Collins and safety Will Hill, both would have to sit out the first four games of the regular season. When their suspension is over, the team gets a one-week exemption period in which both can return to practice; however, by 4 p.m. on the day before the Giants’ fifth regular season game, the team either has to create a roster spot for them or cut them. Off https://insidefootball.com/2013/07/a-review-of-roster-designations-eligibilities/I imagine it's still relevent even though it's 2013 article

No I definitely can't say or admit to that. Honestly he's the best WR on the team. But that's pointless when he's never playing. That's when the bottom end people become a better asset, even if they're not as good as Josh.

It's not scary to me, at all.
If he doesn't screw up, he's here and helping us and we don't have to worry about him. If he does screw up, he's gone, we replace his roster spot with someone else, and we don't have to worry about him.
Take your emotions out of it - it's Win-Win for us. We don't have a downside in it.
The downside is if we cut someone else (which we will have to in order to keep him) and he blows it again.

If he screws up, he's gone and we replace him. Pretty simple concept. It's not like he costs us a spot for the rest of the year if he screws up.

What's scary about cutting your 6th or 7th WR who will also be pretty close to being the 53rd player on the roster??

Or we could cut him, keep a dud WR, and he studs out in Baltimore. See how he looks next week, and see where his head is at. Put a babysitter on him like Dez Bryant had if you have to.

The potential, dude! Think about the potential future HoFer we have who is just 2 years younger than Josh Gordon who could be a top 3 WR in the NFL. Think about their potential! It'd be heartbreaking if we had a talented player.

Honestly he's the best WR on the team. I'm not sure he is. I think Pryor might end up being much better without the headcase issues.

Josh Gordon, at his best, is one of the most talented WRs in the NFL. He has also shown the ability to make difficult catches and catch the ball in traffic. We haven't really seen that from Pryor. Not that I've noticed. Pryor has had a few very good plays this preseason, but overall, his sample size is very very small. Gordon lit it up with Brandon Weeden (The Saffron Slinger) as his QB

I was very careful with my words, and that's why i didn't say "One of the best WRs in the league" I said "One of the most talented WRs in the league" for this very reason that you point out. You are absolutely right, one good season doesn't make him one of the best. But he did show in that season (2nd season in the NFL after leaving college after 3 years) that he had big-time talent, that which would be at the level of an elite receiver.

I can't help but be wary, waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm pissed that he still hasn't seen the field yet, that's bogus BS IMHO. I don't know what he did to take himself "out" like that, but I'm not impressed that he's missed this much camp and playing time.
Having said that, I'm a "the past is the past" kind of guy, and he's certainly paid for his indiscretions. (Personally, I think the whole weed thing is an asinine issue, especially in light of other legal compounds like alcohol and oxycontin, but that's just me.) So if he can get out there, stay clean, and be productive, I can support and root for him. I would seriously love to see him reach his full potential, play hard, learn his craft, and see what he can truly become. That would be something to watch. JMHO

Yeah - I don't see what's so funny either. Gordon has proven he has the talent. End of story. He's also proven to be a headcase or simply not so bright. . . or he's just made some chronically bad decisions without a good support team in place for him..... I'll take all the baggage and hope he stays straight. Hue gives me the impression he's got what it will take to get through to Gordon. I also think the attraction of playing in a high octane offense will also be a motivator for Gordon. I'd be all in for Gordon and willing to cut Hawkins or the 4th/5th WR on the team to keep him. I'd sure as hell keep him over the 53rd guy on the roster. It's ironic that we moan and whinge about a lack of talent (DL / LB's / DB's) yet we are so willing to cast off an elite talent who has strayed.... strayed under a weak, rudderless, leaderless FO that is now gone. . . . I'm not blaming Gordon's issues on Farmer and Pet before anyone misinterprets what I am saying, I just believe that he's worth a chance. And because of his extreme talent he get's more chances to prove his head is on straight than someone that's a middle or bottom of the pack guy .... he doesn't get to cut corners and he is held to the same standard as everyone else on the roster at this point, but he gets every chance to make the team if the decision is mine.

Oh - and for the record I believe he will stay clean for the season and beyond. Obviously if I didn't believe that then I would have a different opinion.

If Gordon would fail another test I'd say he'll be done forever IMO

Thanks, I found those stats. I just couldn't find a list of the top yards ever at WR during first two years. As in........to either prove or disprove his claim.
I think he might be right, but I just like to see facts.

2012 season Gordon finished among the top rookie receivers in the 2012 draft class. He finished with 50 catches, for 805 yards, and 5 touchdowns. Gordon scored his first career touchdown against the New York Giants, where he finished the game with 2 catches for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns. Gordon had his first 100-yard game against the Oakland Raiders in Week 13, where he finished with 6 catches for 116 yards and 1 touchdown. Gordon had a career high of 8 catches against the Kansas City Chiefs in week 14. 2013 season On June 7, 2013, the NFL announced that Gordon would be suspended for the first two games of the 2013 season due to violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.[12] During Week 12, Gordon had 237 receiving yards and in Week 13, 261 yards. It marked the first time in NFL history a wide receiver had back-to-back 200-yard receiving games.[13] On December 26, 2013, He was named the Cleveland Chapter PFWA Player of the Year following the season.[14] On December 27, 2013, Gordon was voted to his first Pro Bowl selection. Gordon finished the 2013 season as the NFL's leader in receiving yards, with 1,646 yards and was named First-Team All-Pro alongside Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions.[15] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Gordon
