I would kinda-sorta-somewhat understand it, but I'd be beyond irked at them for doing it. Completely pissed off.

You would be "pissed off" if we traded him for a first round pick?
I don't think anyone needs to worry. I seriously doubt anyone would trade a first round pick for a guy who has been "caught" as much as Gordon has.

You'd have to be stupid to not want to trade Josh Gordon. You'd also have to be stupid to trade Josh Gordon. Haha, I think this is the best statement(s) regarding Josh. Well said, sir.

I don't think anyone needs to worry. I seriously doubt anyone would trade a first round pick for a guy who has been "caught" as much as Gordon has. Yeah, I actually think I would. A lot, big time, in fact. It's the premise that nobody will trade a 1st for him until he's back on the field and performing well -- at which point, I have to think that only the Browns with their history of utter failure and incompetence at drafting with 1st rounders would trade a guy that is actually performing worthy of a first rounder for a first rounder that they will quite likely turn into just another waste. We have a Bird in the hand. We should just be happy, especially if that bid starts to turn into a rather rare Phoenix.

Realistically what teams would want to offer for him?
I could see the Patriots, Rams, Colts, Giants, Vikings, Seahawks

You'd have to be stupid to not want to trade Josh Gordon. You'd also have to be stupid to trade Josh Gordon. And there it is....I have made a good deal of money in the stock market over the years, and that is the bottom line question. Do I hold or do I sell? I believe it always prudent to cut your losses, but only on big investments. Gordon is a 2nd rounder to us. A fair investment that has shown the ability to pay big dividends in the past that has gone flat. I don't think it wise to sell low at this point. That is what others are hoping for at this juncture. I hold, especially since we have to this point. It makes little sense to bail now since the loss would be insignificant compared to the gain, and the loss for all intents and purposes happend a year or two ago. Hold Gordon.

He is cheap, and can be very good if focused. We went from having the worst recievers, to potentially having some of the best. We are building, don't discard good bricks before the structure is complete.

Just sweeten the pot a little bit. If I tell you that you can't have summin you gonna want it more more more more. I can relate to the idea that the pick gained would be wasted, but if I was the power that be and I could recoup my investment, heck even at a loss of a round, I would be all over it. Maybe a player for player deal ala Anthony Henry for Bryant. That worked out great right? Dang, now I'm just contradicting myself. I don't freakin know. His potential is tantalizing, got me salivating, but I feel in the end I would just be shaking my head in disgust... yet again.

I still don't believe for a second that any team would be dumb enough to even think about giving up a first or a second for him.

We also have to look at what it is having Gordon on this roster actually costs us. $$$ is not an issue... while I don't deny that there is at this point in time a legitimate concern as to whether or not he is for real this time... I think the most relevant question is if Josh is on the 53... who ISN'T? Is there another WR that he'd be taking the place of that anyone of us would say "I'd take X over Josh"? Probably not. Or a guy at any other position for that matter.
I guess I'm looking at it as until Josh proves otherwise, to me he is the 53rd man. Without him it looks like we still have a promising WR corps, so while a 'maximizing his potential' Josh makes our group better, if it turns out he screws up again, losing him doesn't actually set us back any.

I would think possibly a 5th, thus the reason I let it play out with us and hold. Let him turn out a pro bowl player for us or wash out of the league on our watch.

I agree. I don't think we're going to get an offer for a first for him, but with us holding all the cards, there's no reason we should chase for trade partners. His talent, when on the field, is 1st round level. If a team wants to take on the risk of Gordon, make an offer based on the talent he brings, or don't waste our time.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

The Browns used a 4th round draft pick to select TE Seth DeValve, out of Princeton. I don't believe he has been on the field yet. He was on the PUP list but I thought he came off of the PUP over a week ago...I have not seen him play yet.
Any idea what the Browns will do with him?

With Connor showing up, not sure he's better than Bibbs because they can line up Bibbs at fullback, so he may have become expendable. Hamlet has good size and from what I've heard, great hands.

I hear you. I am NOT advocating trading or cutting Gordon. I'm just saying that some of our fans are overvaluing his worth on the market.

Any idea what the Browns will do with him? Cut him! I remember the good old days, 1984ish, when just because a player was drafted, I mean often times they didn't make the team. I've been against the guy since day one because it says he's from Princeton,... actually, the Browns will probably, either keep him, (active roster), (or place him on the practice squad) (or find a way to keep him without using a slot on injured reserve prior to cutdowns. I've looked over one of my past lists, and it's pretty obvious, that ANYBODY, drafted after about the top 100-to 106, 7 8 or 109 picks, .. is getting really maringally worthwhile to ever contribute or help you win games. I don't know why this year would be any different, if a patterns developed. Besides 4th rd picks are more like 5th or 6th used to be because 32 teams plus supplemental picks are more than rounds with 28 teams, as there used to be. Eventually, every drafted player shouldn't make the team, especially if your team is anywhere near decent.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I hear you. I am NOT advocating trading or cutting Gordon. I'm just saying that some of our fans are overvaluing his worth on the market. I honestly thought he would have NO trade value at all at this point, but since other teams are inquiring about a trade it looks like he has value after all. So his true value is whatever anyone would be willing to give up for him. Now if he performs that value goes up, if he stays straight that value goes up, but if he doesn't do those two things his value plummets! So if somebody offers a first you would have to consider it, maybe even a second. BUT I would be furious if they traded him just because of the 'what ifs' .

Did the Browns float Josh Gordon trade rumors to drum up interest? It actually makes a lot of sense given Cleveland's limited options with troubled WR Will Brinson 5h ago • 1 min read On Tuesday, rumors about a potential Josh Gordon trade started popping up. The Browns had, according to a report, been contacted by multiple teams interested in the talented-but-troubled wide receiver. As we noted, it would be nearly impossible for the Browns to work out the compensation on a deal for Gordon, unless they were willing to take pennies. Maybe teams were calling offering nothing for Gordon, who was recently reinstated by the NFL after a year-long suspension. Or perhaps, as floated by Toni Grossi of ESPN Cleveland, the Browns made up the rumors. There is a cynical point of view out there that the Browns floated the story of interest in Gordon to promote more activity. That they are looking to cut their losses and get something for him before he self-destructs again. The only reason for the Browns to even consider trading Gordon is if they fear he won't stay clean and abide by his recovery program. Only they would know this. There's only one way to create a seller's market if there aren't any buyers out there. And that's to create some buyers. So if you're the Browns and, hypothetically, interested in moving Gordon, you would want people to be interested in him. No one's interested in giving up a high draft pick for a guy who is one more failed drug test away from being indefinitely suspended from the NFL. Maybe the Browns could get a fifth-round pick for Gordon. Maybe. There's just so much risk inherently built into the prospect of acquiring an unknown with a ton more downside than he has upside. It's why there wasn't ever likely a deal that was going to be reached between the Browns and another team, unless the Browns are simply saying "hey, we'll take your finest ham sandwich for this guy." In which case maybe they figure out a way to make Gordon someone else's problem. The possibility remains highly unlikely. Gordon is probably going to be a Brown and the end result is probably going to be spectacular either way. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/did-the-browns-float-josh-gordon-trade-rumors-to-drum-up-interest/

I'm not a draftnik who gets giddy over a possible first-round pick, so I wouldn't wanna trade him for a first right now. He's a risk, but his beastly talent makes it worth the risk.

Reporter suggests Browns trying to increase Josh Gordon trade interest
Are the Cleveland Browns trying to better their chances of trading Josh Gordon by insisting they have no interest in trading Josh Gordon? One reporter isn’t ruling it out. On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that “multiple teams” have reached out to the Browns about Gordon and all have been told the 25-year-old wide receiver is not available. One of Schefter’s coworkers, ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi, feels there is something “fishy” about Schefter’s report. Allow him to explain: There is a cynical point of view out there that the Browns floated the story of interest in Gordon to promote more activity. That they are looking to cut their losses and get something for him before he self-destructs again. The only reason for the Browns to even consider trading Gordon is if they fear he won’t stay clean and abide by his recovery program. Only they would know this. Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk also raised a good point: Wouldn’t the Browns be the only ones to know if multiple teams had made offers for Gordon. And if Schefter’s source was someone in the Browns organization, what’s the motive? If the team has no interest in trading Gordon, they could just say nothing. Either they really want him to feel the love, or they could be trying to drive up the asking price. While the Browns have insisted they are standing behind Gordon, comments like these ones from Hue Jackson are enough to make you wonder. http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/r...s1_127_21639679

I don't think so....I am confident at least 1 team made a call....after that we may have expanded the interest.
Either way it doesn't matter. It would be dumb to trade him at this point.

general reply. In 1993 or 4, when the Browns won a playoff game, they went into the season, (they had a good team) but I almost thought they had too many good receivers, (there wouldn't be enough room for the to all be productive, ) but I learned that just wasn't the case, it's nice to have a lot.
They had Andre Rison, free agent, Michael Jackson,(Dyson) a big langy tall option, and they had first round draft pick, Derrick Alexander, and running back Eric Metcalf, who acted often as a wr. and then perhaps the most exciting, off the bench backup who I had to watch have his most productive years in San Diego I think, Keenan McCardell.
Browns had Bill Belichic, as head coach, and Nick Saban was the Defensive coordinator, Leroy Hoard having a big year at Rb, and Tommy Vardell in about year 3 after being a first round pick at Rb, and the most important part may have been the way they got production from about 3 hard to remember tight ends. Blocking production.
But that year the Browns only lost 6 games and 3 of them were to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But the closest they came to beating the Steelers that year was the first time they played, and in that game the young Browns utilized deep the deep passing attack moreso than in either of the other two games.
In fact it was so much in my memory when I first got the internet in about late 1996, that joining here I chose the nickname THROW LONG, as a ruse thinking I'd change it, just to see if this " registration " thing would work. Certainly, I'd put those Wr's above these, and any group since, with distant mentions of the 2002ish 4 deuces, and the 07ish Edwards, Winslow, and Jurivicious,
But it's been a reminder to me, and at this point I'm glad I chose that name, Throw Long, as to remember why , in 1993 or 4, when the Browns last won a playoff game, and had a team that went 11-5 in the Reg season, in a year when only 3 other teams won 11 or more regular season games, that their downfall, to not get that playoff game at home, or not beat the Steelers, may have been, (as least as I saw it), just not challenging them deep, often enough, in the short times they had the ball in those games.

I don't know if it would be "dumb."
The guy got kicked out of Baylor.
He went to Utah and got kicked out of there.
He then lied about why he was entering the Supplemental Draft.
He has failed multiple tests since he has entered the NFL.
He got a DUI.
He was hanging around a known criminal when he got that DUI.
He keeps lying. Cough medicine, 4 drinks, barely over. Give me a break.
He was known to either miss or be late to practices and meetings.
He dogged it on the field during his last stint here.
He talks big, but always screws up, and then lies about it.
And if he was really sincere this time, why in the world would he show up overweight? I mean..............are you freaking kidding me?
I don't think you improve the culture w/scum like that.

It defies all logic.

Agree completely with exception of last sentence....calling another human being scum is wrong...JMHO, his ethnic background is TAUGHT to lie early/about everything...comes from strong family...not....I'd keep him and hope for the best....he can't be trusted until he gets full year in without anything happening, then MAYBE...he was overweight due to inactivity due to injury...Hue has fixed that/Gordon has done the work and Hayden/one of our best players thinks he's monster....we can hope....GO Browns!!!!

I figured the Grossi thing would be beat upon. I considered that factor as well, but the logic of it makes sense. Additionally, Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk also raised a good point: Wouldn’t the Browns be the only ones to know if multiple teams had made offers for Gordon. So, who else would know that there were multiple teams that made offers for Gordon other than the Browns?

You say that the Browns would be "morons" to trade Gordon for so little, but on the other hand, a team would have to be moronic to give anything more for a guy who has been off the field more than he has been on the field for several years in a row. He can't stay clean.

Teams inquire about players all the time.
