Tough loss for Grassu. He had shown improvement

The Browns best finish would be a non playoff year for the Steelers.
The Steelers have done well drafting over the past 4 6 yrs.
Every year the homers claim how the Steelers are in decline and how the Browns are finally going to
"Beat the AFC North and win 10 games"
I give the Steel City credit they have a very stable
Front office and coaching staff and a ownership dedicated
To winning.

I don't care if Pittsburgh goes 0-16.

If we still only go 3-13 then it doesn't matter.

You can't hope other teams will suck. You have to make your team better.

Reggie Ragland (ACL) expected to miss 2016 season

Bills linebacker Reggie Ragland is going under the knife later this week for surgery on his torn ACL, and Buffalo isn't optimistic about the rookie's prospects in 2016.

The team confirmed Wednesday that Ragland's knee will likely sideline him for the entire season.

Coach Rex Ryan's defense was starving for capable inside linebackers and Ragland most certainly fit the bill. Instead, the defensive minded coach will roll with Brandon Spikes and David Hawthorne, a pair of veterans the team signed this week.

Hawthorne has spent time with Rob Ryan and the Saints, while Spikes has worked in versatile 3-4 fronts before and should find a home in Rex Ryan's defense.

Ravens' Breshad Perriman: I'll be 'worth the wait'

Quote:
He added: "I don't have any doubt in my mind that I won't be ready. I'm attacking it right now like I will be ready, and I think I will."

I'm not sure if that was a Freudian slip, but I found it amusing.

McCown could be a trade possibility, but if you're the Browns ... do you really think our OL can keep RG3 healthy for 16 games, let alone 16 plays?

If you're the Browns, do you really think you are going to be good anyway? If you do not think, then you should trade your 37 year old QB.

Buffalo would give away EJ with Cardale in tow IMO

I personally don't think we could get a 4th for McCown. Maybe a 5th. Probably a 6th. I wouldn't trade him for a 6th ... he'll have to play within the first month here

After some brief research on the Cowboys situation with Romo, I have an idea that has not been mentioned here (that I know of):

Dallas' veteran LG is Ronald Leary. He was just overtaken on the depth chart by Lael Collins. Leary is currently disgruntled and is also a RFA ... most likely not to return to Dallas. Hence, he's very expendable.

Browns could swap McCown for Leary (maybe one team throws in a late pick to make it even). Put Leary at LG. Put Bitonio at RT.

Prescott or any QB can look like Brady is Pre season, I would demand no lower than a 4th for McCown, we have the leverage, Dallas kicking their heads for not picking up Foles, also the Jets have Geno they can part with

My only problem with this is that the left side of the line is the one place we seem to have working well when Joe and Bitonio are out there.

I'd have to look at their DBs.

I like the idea of getting an established player rather than a draft pick, if its only going to be a 4th-5th rounder. And we do need OL help.

I don't know much about Leary, so I looked up his Combine profile from 2012 at NFL.com:

Ronald Leary #65 G

Dallas Cowboys | Official Team Site

Height: 6-3 Weight: 320 Age: 27

Born: 4/29/1989 Baton Rouge , LA

College: Memphis

Experience: 4th season

Combine: 2012

Combine Stats:

3 Cone Drill
7.87 secs

40 Yard Dash
5.36 Secs

Bench Press
30.0 reps

20 Yard Shuttle
4.91 secs

Broad Jump
104.0 inches

Vertical Jump
29.0 inches

Strengths:

Leary is reliable to keep his man sustained in pass protection. He is a heavy-legged mover, however, and he relies on reactionary movements and upper body strength to recover from a shallow pass set. He uses his hands well in both pass protection and run blocking, and he keeps a strong grip and generates movement once engaged. He uses his frame well and keeps himself in an uncompromising position at all times. Although not a "pretty" blocker, Leary is extremely competitive and was routinely seen working downfield at the end of plays to keep his blocks going and get extra hits. His competitiveness will be the driving trait that keeps him on an NFL roster.

Weaknesses:

Leary is a classic heavy, laboring mover. He could benefit from a move inside, as he could struggle in getting into an effective pass set in the NFL. He is slow off the ball and rarely shows much explosion into his man. Although he didn't show it much at Memphis, he had difficulties maneuvering around trash at his legs and getting free to the second level to block linebackers. There aren't necessarily technical hitches in Leary's play, but his heavy, slow feet inhibit his ability to move and be effective on the line.

Why do the Browns need a RT?

The Browns signed free agent OL Alvin Bailey, noting that he had started at OG and OT for the Seahawks...he was the front office's choice to fill the RT slot...

The Browns also used a 3rd round #76 pick to draft OT, Shon Coleman out of Auburn...

and the front office judged that Austin Pasztor might be a suitable replacement for the RT slot.

The opening at RT was created when the Browns front office refused to sign RT Mitchell Schwartz. Who could have imagined that this decision by the Browns front office might affect the performance of the Browns free agent QB?

The Browns offered Schwartz 7 million a year. He decided to test the market. The Browns watched it, too. RTs weren't getting as much as they both had expected. The Browns then offered market value, Schwartz decided to sign elsewhere.

I don't think the offense is going to be our problem this season.

I agree our defense is in worse shape, but the OL will prevent us from keeping the D off the field too
