Very interesting that there is one player left to cut. I wonder if they're trying to move someone?
They're waiting for Justin Gilbert to wake-up to give him the bad news. Hahaha. Could be. I expect Gilbert to make the 53 man squad. I doubt he's going anywhere...

Sounds like the man wanted to be here, stay here and play his tail off here.
I really just can't understand the move. Everyone else released makes sense, there's no sense to be made there unless Paul was asking for it. By the tweet there, he wasn't asking for it.
Sashi, what's the deal there? If you're disgusted with the performance then why is Nate Orchard still here?

Not sure how he was mishandled or why it's the wrong decision. His production was down and he wasn't going to be an every down player. Hopefully, like everyone else who leaves here, he can have success elsewhere.

Sounds like another cost-saving move.

I can't say he was all that productive but I'm not sure why you would cut Kruger at this point unless someone fighting for a roster spot was just kicking his butt.
Cutting Kruger now gives him a chance to sign on with another team. No sense in stringing him along. Obviously, the Browns are going with a youth movement and want to give the young guys time to grow. Youth movement because of Kruger? I mean, he didn't exactly light it up in camp and preseason, so maybe he's just a cut because he's not meeting the standards they want to set?

Daryl Ruiter is on 92.3 The Fan right now saying that Kruger's contract has been fully paid (in terms of guarantees) so although we take a cap hit on the pro rated bonus money, the Browns lose no money cutting Kruger. Cap hit is all that ever matters - real dollars paid and when is pretty much never a consideration. I believe it was stated that we save on the cap this year by making this move, which means that we carry that much more forward onto next season. Also - all previous bonus monies are paid, but we do save his salary, for whatever that counts - that part IS real cash saved.
Browns is the Browns

I guess we're use to it though

kinda surprised by this. Some called for it ... I was on the fence. He might still have something left

Kruger surprised me. The early move surprised me. But why is Gilbert still here? Davis is gone, and I am OK with that.
I suspect a potential major move for secondary if we can find someone. Just going to be ugly for awhile from what I have seen.

If we are going to have LBs who can't tackle, they might as be 1st and 2nd year guys and not those signed as FAs with the 3rd highest contract on the team.

Whitner, Dansby, Hartline. The team is going young, it's been quite clear for some time.

Whitner is still out there available last I checked. Dansby is in Cinci and I have no idea about Hartline.

Whitner, Dansby, Hartline. The team is going young, it's been quite clear for some time. Kruger admitted recently that his pass-rush wasn't where it needed to be and that he needed to improve. Kruger, 30 was by far the biggest name among the cuts, but his production this preseason wasn't up to the the Browns standards this summer. In two quarters of work in Tampa Bay Friday night, Kruger had two assists and didn't get close to sacking Jameis Winston, who rolled up 259 yards passing and two TDs in the first half.

Got no issues w/ Kruger being let go. Maybe he can catch on with another team. I think he can still play. But, I think Ogbah is better right now and only gonna improve and I think Nassib was close enough that it would expect him to match/surpass Kruger's production. Then you still have orchard who is a more natural fit as an OLB.

NT Terrance Knighton was cut by the Patriots.
He has a history of migraines so he's merely a rotational player with questionable/unpredictable availability......with all that being said when he does play he's good.

Kruger was a good guy but he sucked. Sorry but he was going through the motions out there.
Frankly our best pass rushing linebacker in preseason has been Schobert.

IMO with the cuts we've had , including the ones in the off season, we are not only looking to get younger and give our new players more experience but are looking for future leaders on this team. This team needs leadership and an identity and that will come from our young guys.

He's 30, but if he's better than what we got, might be an option. Shelton isn't bad, but I definitely think it's an important position and he could be better

I keep seeing everywhere that we have 76, but I count 75. http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/team/roster.htmlDoes K'Waun Williams count on the reserve/suspended list?

We save $5.3M against the cap by cutting Kruger.
He basically had one productive season for us (2014) and was average in his other two.
We are going to be (really bad), we need to know if our young guys can play. Kruger gets in the way of that and he's nothing special himself. I understand the move.

Crazy that we were able to get something for Mingo, but not Kruger. That kind of tells you something right there.
