Basically this new regime is cutting the dead weight from
The Farmer regime especially the ones who have reached their

Just like that, Joe Thomas is our longest tenured player.

Look out Joe. crazy

Does this surprise you? It's pretty clear the FO is cleaning out all the malcontents. It's about time. Were not winning with them, and we need to start drafting players that want to win and want to be here. K'wan did not. Acting like a spoiled child gets you the door....GO Hue!

I just meant that he was one of our better defensive players and that he is no longer on the team. That is always a bad thing no matter the cause.

I don't actually believe what Haden said is true, I more thought it was interesting that a teammate (and probably one of the most prominent Browns) said that Kruger wasn't making plays.

If it really was a "what have you done for me lately" business then Haden would be gone. It is not, he is not.

The Seahawks cut Brandon Browner. He was really good at one point in time. His career might be over now.

Yeah, he has really struggled recently. He plays so stiff. Has a hard time turning and running w/any sort of fluidity.

Actually, he started 16 games in 2014 and 15 games last year while leading the Cowboys in tackles one of those years.

Kick the tires on Quentin Coples?

Haven't really seen much of him in the pro ranks, but he was highly thought of coming into the league.

Personally, I'd pass.

Hue mentioned Schobert and Cam Johnson when discussing players who can step up with the Mingo/Kruger losses ... Then we'd have Ogbah/Orchard as edge too

Our pass rush will continue to be quite pedestrian

as in, these guys may as well be trying to just walk into the backfield because they are going to be THAT ineffective.

Care to expand on that?

I'm not trying to argue one way or the other, just curious as to your reasoning.

The Jets were desperate to make him good for years. He's just not.

The 6-foot-6, 284-pound Coples played three-plus seasons for the Jets and half a season with the Miami Dolphins. He has 16½ career sacks.

Yeah, to piggy-back on clevesteve, he just wasn't all that good and would rather snaps go elsewhere. I think there have been report(s) of internal issues with him in the past. His surprise cut may also led credence to that concern.

We just released Kruger with similar production in three years.

I was looking at him as a 3-4 end rather than OLB. He had 5.5 sacks from there as a rookie which isn't a bad number. I think 3-4 DE fits his skill set best.

Did he have internal issues? I thought that was more Sheldon Richardson, but I didn't really closely follow the Jets.

Jeff Fisher said they wanted to give him a chance to catch on with another team and was pretty complimentary. The Rams D-Line is pretty stacked.

Link

Quote:
Coples was a first-round pick by the New York Jets in 2012 and was transitioning from defensive end to defensive tackle during training camp. Through the first two preseason games, the 26-year-old compiled four tackles, forced two fumbles and recorded a sack.

A 6-foot-6, 290-pound lineman, Coples played three-plus seasons with the Jets and about half a season with the Miami Dolphins, compiling 16½ career sacks.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said he "wanted to give him a chance and give him an opportunity to get out there early to see if he could find work. If not, we're going to keep the door open for him."

"I really appreciated everything that he did," Fisher said of Coples. "Going from end to tackle, if you've never been in there, is quite a change. He worked really hard at it."

Was just a thought, he's only 26 and our D-Line depth looks suspect.

I really like what I have seen from Schobert. he seems to be involved in every play when he is in the game. The plays he has altered by his hustle and presence is amazing. Would not be surprised if he isnt our best pass rusher by years end.

HOpefully you're correct. I haven't paid much attention to him (well, outside of Big 10 ball)

People take things too literally.. Haden has had many very good years, he dropped off last year... Kruger has never done very much since getting here....

If you want to take the "what have you done for me lately" to the extreme, our team right now would be about 4 veterans and 20 rookies who haven't had a chance to screw up yet.

The Broncos cut Britton Colquitt.

He averaged .4 yards less on NET punts than Andy Lee last year. He was due to make $4M.

Some centers were just cut. Anyone we should be interested in? I know minimal about these guys:

Vikings release John Sullivan

We have given no indication that we would be willing to sign any older veterans, so no on Sullivan.

The Seahawks line is a disaster and they cut Lewis, so no on him.

The Seahawks claimed Patrick Lewis from our practice squad and IIRC called him their team MVP at one point last year for stablizing their line. Odd cut.

Sullivan, not sure if he's as good as he used to be. He's getting up there I think.

Pogrom. Not ethnic. But it is like a major housecleaning. Andy Lee suggests all players look like they want to tackle going forward. But if we need to flush some more folks, so be it. In for a dime, in for a dollar.

When I was in HS, my school's team used to play Sullivan.... They used to put him in at fullback on short yardage 3rd downs. It was so frustrating. We are about the same age, so year after year Sullivan was always out there

That's kind of sad...... "He's getting up there" 31 shouldn't be up there
