Ten years ago this month, some one (or group?) got the brilliant idea of starting this board. Ten years is the Tin anniversary. (under traditional anniversary symbols) (it’s the Diamond anniversary under the modern anniversary symbols) There’s so many of you with September 2006 registration dates. Many have come and gone. To those of you still here: Happy Birthday, Congratulations, Nostrovia, See a psychiatrist you are not well. Some posts from that first week: Browns Lonewolf - “This is seriously sweeeeeet” (9/11/06) crazyotto55 - “Yes, Thanks are definitely in order. Hey, this must make PPE Ref1 now. (9/11/06) shadow67 - “Yeah ditto here too. It can't be said enough. Prpl really came through for us. This looks great, runs great and is growing every minute. Good job PPE, if you need anything, I'm pretty sure anyone who can help, will!” (9/11/06) YTownBrownsFan - “This board rocks!” (9/11/06) Versatile Dawg - “The new "Fan Chat" board sucks.” (9/11/06) KashDawg - “...thank you very much. I was Grrrr on the previous boards, but with the new change, I decided to change my name to a more friendly one.” (9/11/06) ddubia -”I'm impressed. It feels like home. Maybe what is most impressive though is that this would have been but a pipe dream anywhere else. This just proves how commited the Dawg Talkers are to their home and to the Browns.” (9/11/06) PrplPplEater - “Welcome to the board and Many thanks in return to All of You who are joining here.” (9/12/06) Attack Dawg - “Makes me feel like home..thanks PPE.” (9/12/06) 123 - “unless browns chat changes i can see tons of people jumping over here” (9/12/06) CanadaDawg - “SOOO GOOD!!! Big ups to PPL... The new Browns board blows…” (9/13/06) lampdawg - “I'm glad this one is here. Thanks to all who are responsible for it!” (9/13/06) YtseDawg - “The new official site is horrible and I felt like I was trapped in a room with a bunch of 10 yr olds... ugh. “ (9/13/06) ttimothygman - “Excellent” (9/15/06) Referee00 - “I know up in heaven there is a smiling young boy who once belonged to this board by the name "RavenKiller". He was a very passionate and faithful fan, better than myself at times I must admit. And I would like to think he's up there and very happy for the team. God Bless You RavenKiller.... Ravenkiller was a kid who used to post on here and was very well liked. He was a smart kid who it turned out was terminally ill and passed away a few years back…. I forgot his first name, but, I'm sure he was from one of the Carolina states. He died of Leukemia at the young age of 10 or 11 I believe. His final wish was to see his beloved Browns win the Super Bowl. I think he touch all our hearts who read his posts on this board.” (9/12/06) DEZLDAWG - “THANKS REFS!!!!!!! “ (9/16/06) KNOXDAWG - “i don't care how you do it. god it's good to be back” (9/16/06) GMdawg - “LMAO Thats going to leave a mark “ (9/22/06)

Happy 10th birthday, DT. I remember being on the old DT the night it was shut down, when PPE and another guy (I think it was Florida Fan) hatched the idea of cloning the old site into what we have here. So glad that worked out - thanks Purp. Now, about that "quick reply" box and the still-missing PayPal button ...

HB2U! It's hard to believe this board has been running so much longer than the old one did.

Happy Anniversary!
I'm glad I joined this board - it's a lot better than the old official and now-closed-down Cleveland Browns dot com board. They were way too strict there. That pushed people away from it, me thinks.
This is a chillin' board.

I was a teenager when I joined the old board and 20 years old when I joined this one (I remember being ecstatic that I came across it).
Happy birthday to all of you guys

I joined the (original) board in 2007/8 when we returned to the States. But then it shut down or its servers went kaput or something and the site re-opened?

I think you're thinking of when this board was shut down for a few weeks/months due to some technical difficulties. There was an original dawgtalkers that was laid out just like this one and was very popular ... it shut down and they started this one up
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

There was a long outage around 3 years ago when the server bit the dust that I remember. Might have one more outage before that too, but I'm not sure.
I wonder what has become of so many of the old posters. I'm guessing a lot of them now spend their online time on Facebook.

Wow! Thanks to PPL and refs, this is a great place! And thanks for the Ravenkiller post. It moved me then, it moves me now. That list had a lot of memories hanging on it.
Here's to many more.

10 years..... time flies, my fellow dawgies.... .. IIRC, right before the original, Browns-run board went down, purp let us dawgs know he was starting a new one, based very much on the original.

I was around a bit before the move, but my official ten year is in a week.
This has always been an awesome place for me to dump thoughts about my teams. We're all football junkies here, but I think a lot of us share the same love for the Cavs and Indians, as well as college football, etc..
This site is a testament to how loyal Browns fans are. This thing has been running over 10 years, and it's a strong board, yet we as fans have nothing to show for it. A bad football team, constant 4-5 win seasons. If you look at the activity and traffic on this board you would think we were a perennial power house. This would be an amazing place if we ever got our stuff together as a team, haha.
Want to thank those who put this together and keep it running. Here's to another 10 years.

The Browns have only had one winning season in the past 10 years. This certainly is a great place to cry in your beer.

Purple certainly deserves most of the credit as he took over ownership of the site and bears the technical and monetary burdens that come with the website. There were a handful of us talking behind the scenes when we were told the original Dawgtalk would be no more. Everything came together with Purple listening to us and creating a duplicate of the board we all loved.
The funniest part for the moderators on this board has been reading so many of the posts here through the last decade talking about how much better the moderation is on this board than the two official Browns' boards. Every moderator here was also a moderator on Browns Chat. Several of us were moderators on the original board, Dawgtalk. Moderation, for the most part, completely depends on the posters. It was a little stricter due to being an official NFL board, but most of it remains the same.
It's been a pleasure, and thank you, Purple, for listening to us and coming through with providing us the message board we all wanted to continue.

and thanks to you referee 3 ... this is the best run board on the net. It's home to a lot of us and a big part of our days.

I joined the original board in 2001 ..... and started posting on 9/11.
I think that I had another identity before YTown ..... but I cannot remember what is was. I seem t recall that I had changed ISPs, and lost my password to whatever identity I had .... so I created my current name. Of course, this name has become legendary. *
On 9/11, I was off work, and when I got up, I saw the news. I had read the board prior to that day, but it was 9/11 that really turned me into a poster.
*in my own mind only

Between Dawg Talk and DawgTalkers, I've been around since 1999.
It sure doesn't seem that long but it has been.
I've met a lot of great fans from this board and consider all of them my Buds and some as true friends through the years.
I certainly appreciate the hard work and effort that has been put into keeping this tradition alive. It's the best damned message board on the internet!
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

This thread got me thinking of DT day at training camp (back around 2001 or so is when I attended?)
I wish we still did that.

I just remembered I saw this guy.... ...shopping at Ralph's, (aka "rock 'n' roll" Ralph's), a local grocery store in Hollywood, California, way back in the early 90's. It tripped me out as he has that weird look to him. I guess we all gotta live somewhere!
