This game went as expected. The Browns are a horrible football team at this point in time.

Nassib looked good.

Wentz wasn't intimidated by this D.

I expect Haden to be traded at some point if they can get decent compensation in return.

Going to be a long 2-3 years for this plan to (hopefully) develop.

Not surprisingly, the Browns haven't even sold out the home opener yet.

As the season progresses and becomes an inevitable dumpster fire, trading Joe Thomas rumors will get louder. We're doing him a disservice and he's going to be 32 years old this year.

The franchise qb isn't on this team now.
its the same old story at QB for the Browns...
one stop gap replaces another.
but the other sideline you see a QB that showed me more in one game then I ever saw
out of Weeden,Quinn, Manziel etc.
Hue Jackson ran a uptempo offense in Cincy. I didn't see that today.
I think collectively the Browns offense has a low I.Q.
Nice to see Coleman give half arse effort on the INT.
Oh news flash..Erving is a bust.
Pryor runs one route well.
I thought Johnson ran well but didn't run enough.
Crowell got garbage fantasy yards.
on the d side. Wentz got too much to scan the field. the young DEs flashed.
LB'ers didn't impress.
Haden is over the hill already.

all in all this was a winnable game. they let a rookie QB with less than 50 plays under his belt
in the preseason beat them. he barely got his jersey soiled.

I'd rather WE were breaking in a young QB.

I'd entertain offers for Thomas, Haden or any other player who's window is closing and teams could be interested in. Why not continue to gather picks. Nothing to lose.

Nassib is/will be the defensive leader of the team. D has at least a bit of promise.

RGIII is either rusty or has zero touch on the ball.

If this FO can't produce a winner with the accumulated picks this franchise is doomed for another 17 years.

I did think Crow ran well when given some blocking, and Duke had some nice catch and runs. Coleman looks horrible at this point.

Next year's first round, and maybe even 2nd, you take ALL offensive lineman, and I am not kidding at all. Our O-line is a complete disaster right now and cannot protect anyone.

-What the heck happened to the D in the 2nd half? I would like to here a press conference from Horton about this. At times I didn't think the D played that bad, the run D looked much improved. I cannot say the same for the pass defense, they looked absolutely awful!

-What were the play calls at the beginning of the game? Did we try to get to cute? Why didn't we come out and try to establish the run game as planned. Even when the game was close we kept passing, passing, passing.

-RG3 did not play a good game. Maybe he is not in rhythm and he needs more time to practice, but this is the NFL.

For me? It pretty much went exactly as I thought it would. We did have an exciting 2nd quarter, but the rest was typical Browns perpetually-losing football.

Remember, the more games we lose this year the higher the draft picks next time around. So put that frown upside down! lol

i'm very tired of watching our game, and then watching the 4 and 8 games ... and thinking to myself that we aren't even CLOSE to being competitive. It's like we play a different sport

YES!

I am a football fan in general so I watch other games besides just the Browns. So often times when our game is over I find myself seeing other games where the teams are competitive. One of the first thoughts that enters my mind is how good some of them look, and them compare them to us. That's the moment you know just how far away we are from being great in this league, and that is truly very sad.

watching dallas/nyg and those QBs gives me that feeling

I shouldn't be surprised but, I was that we only scored one TD. With all our WR's, Barnidge, Crowell Duke and RG3's scrambling abilities...I hoped we might score more. Quite surprised by the amount of dropped passes too.

It would shock me if Thomas doesn't demand being traded by the deadline. Or could it be this could be his last season?

Our O line is trash.

Offense fell apart after irvings craptastic snap for a safety.

Defense...obviously young.

But Nassib looks really good.

this is exactly what i saw. the offensive line paralyzed the offense.

I bet he ends up being in the Pro Bowl

I thought our O-Line played better than I expected. RG3 is just not a pocket passer. We need to get him on the move more and simplify his reads. Erving's snap wasn't great, but I think Robert should have been able to handle it. I don't know if he wasn't ready or what. Also, so much for him learning to slide and stay healthy. Did he really think he could truck somebody?

Drops early hurt RG3s confidence and rhythm. That led to 3 and outs which led to our D getting worn down.

Hawkins would probably be a good player in New England, but he and RG3 don't seem to fit together.

Barnidge only showed up on his drops. Apparently his soul was only worth 1 pro bowl season. I might play Telfer over him next week.

We need to find a 3rd/4th corner (Maybe a whole new set) and a playmaker at safety. Campbell and Poyer didn't seem to do much in coverage.

Ogbah seemed to pretty much get shut down by Peters.

Hopefully the team can bounce back. I wasn't impressed by Hue's debut. Maybe he'll make a better impression at home.

Browns can't pick a qb, lucky they didn't trade away a $1 pick

Please quit asking this question, every time someone asks this question we actually do find out that-yes indeed a new level of ineptness can be reached.

Defense: I didn't see the missed tackles or blown coverages. No one got badly burned. It may have been a conservative game call, but they played better than I expected.

Offense: O Line looked better than I expected. Once again.. no one blown out or badly burned. No glaring dropped passes except 2 by Barnidge. No big takeaways. I expected much worse, so the play was encouraging. They will get better.

This was a rough start but we blow the opener every year so this should not be a surprise to anyone.

RG3 is serviceable but needs a ton of 'getting better everyday' to even be a mediocre QB.

The Oline was stout for a while then flailed. Erving is a weak link.

Crow did not run very well today. Duke is still amazing.

Pryor was the steal of the off season. I don't understand not involving him more.

Coleman will settle down and be a decent WR I think.

Barnidge had a very un-Gary-like day today.

Hawkins brings what to the table again?

Joe Thomas got beat like a red headed step child on the deep pass attempt.

Nobody else stood out on O to me today.

The Dline was better than I expected.

Nassib will be a beast for us.

Orchard is good depth.

Schobert did okay, but needs more work.

Shelton didn't get blown up that I saw.

Ogbah showed up early then disappeared, he will be good in time too I think.

We have no starting corners (including Haden) that will ever be able to shut anyone down. Safety is about the same. Secondary is a very weak link on D.

Hue got silly with play calling in the first. Shined in the second the got out coached the rest of the game.

Horton is showing why everybody thinks he's not very good. I don't understand why anyone thinks he's a good D coordinator for any other reason than He is constantly saying he's good.

Overall, I think we have some young pieces to build on and this year is all about that. I didn't expect much this game but once it started did see that it was very winnable only to be let down again.

I pin this loss mostly on Hue and Erving for their mistakes at key times, but there is plenty of blame to go around.

I was a little concerned when RG3 looked like he was irritated to the point of giving up late, then he got banged up and I thought he was done; it was good to see him come back in a really try.

Next week we will play better, we always do. The opener is always one of our worst games of the year. So we do have that to look forward to.

Crow had a great ST tackle/hit.

Hawkins cost us a touchdown due to the fact he is short.

Drops really hurt us.

Haden got beat a few times today. Went down with his ankle, He's lost a step I think.

Still think RG3 got hurt on that hit late on the sideline. Come out after that threw like he broke his collar bone.

Not at this point, but we'll see if he improves over the course of the season. He's an exciting college player at QB, but so was Tajh Boyd.

I don't; I actually think Kizer from Notre Dame might be better than him. But that's just my opinion.

Taped the game...as usual...it provided for some quality nap time. There really isn't any reason to watch this team other than to sleep. I'm so numb to the SUCK factor that this team has accomplished that it really doesn't matter. I'll watch them if nothing else is on. Maybe. Enjoy the season folks.

Well, I saw a team today that was what I expected. A 3-13 team last year with a bunch of new guys, new coaches, systems, etc.
I don't blame RG3 for the pick, the ball was tipped twice.
Erving made one bad snap, that I saw. Did it result in a huge negative play? Yep. But to say he was terrible, is not accurate, in my opinion.
Barnidge had some very out of character drops, not RG3's fault, it looked like both were well thrown.
I will agree with a lot of posters that the fake punt was a real head-scratcher.
They are going to need time, it's as simple as that. Will they gel, and be a decent team by the end of the season? Maybe, maybe not.
Unlike a lot of posters here, I won't call them garbage, that doesn't accomplish anything.

The Browns BLEW the first round pick. This is a young team without a starting QB... that they should have had. Hue's first game was a cluster #@%&. Calling for a fake punt on our own side of the field with no punter was just plain stupid. Coleman's hand questions marks are no longer question marks. Barnidge had his head up is ass. Our secondary stinks, including the vaunted Joe Haden. Erving is a waste of space. The FO was in over their heads when they drafted. We look stupid to the world, because well, we are. Awful. Just awful. But hey, at least we're not tanking the season and there's always next year.

There's no question we missed a veteran presence at WR today. If I were the Browns FO I'd be on the phone and try to get Dwayne Bowe back here asap. He wouldn't have dropped those passes not to mention he can mentor all of our young guys. Also, we should have put Cody in when RG appeared hurt. He's ready.

after watching today, I think Hawkins should have been a cut. He gives us nothing at this point and is too old to do anything in the future.

He'll be cut when Gordon returns

This is the part that gives me little hope. When you do a complete tear down it usually coincides with the newly anointed franchise QB. The QB and the team grow and take their lumps together. The Browns were in position to do that. They didnt. I don't get it. I don't understand how Wentz was good enough for Philly but not the Browns. It makes little sense to me.

Wentz may have played his best game of the season today. He may suck every game from here on out. But he also may not and it certainly looked like there was something to build on there.

As a fan, the losses are easier to take when you know you're building something at the QB position. We're not. I'm not really sure where the franchise goes from here.

They draft one next year with their 1st #1 if things don't improve this year at the qb position.
