the last thing I want to see is Kessler starting. He's not ready. We need to keep him on the bench for a year or two.
He needs to go the Rodgers route vs every other QB that we have started too soon.
Hunter + Dart = This is the way.

Keep Kessler on the bench for 2-3 years for what? Kessler will never be the long-term starter here in Cleveland.. period!! We are drafting a QB in next years draft. No questions asked. So you might as well play him now to see what he can do.

I would not be surprised to see Kevin Hogan playing before the the end of the season.
Josh Johnson is a logical pick up. But I still wonder why Josh Freeman never caught on with another team.
With this OLine, we need someone that is built like a tank.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

I would rather have Pryor out there at QB than Kessler. Absolutely not! Pryor is learning to become an NFL WR, and is showing a ton of ability there. Don't derail his development at the position where he stands a chance of becoming a very good or better player. I don't think Kessler would make it through one series alive. Kessler played with backups' backups in the preseason. Our roster is incredible young, and he played with the guys who were at the bottom of our roster. (and I would wager that almost all are out of the NFL right now) The OL he played behind was flat out awful. Again, our backups' backups ..... and that's as bad as it sounds. I gave him some grief for not attacking down the field, but he played with some real bums. My biggest concern with Kessler, at this point, is that we would be adding yet another young player, and at a key position, into a team with a bunch of young players. However, maybe he grows, and shows signs of ability like some of our other youngsters have.

Just no. The guy is clearly not ready. No point.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

It is likely to be next man up and that man is cody Kessler. Hue said trust me, well lets find out if he can be trusted. He atleast gets the ball out pretty quick, which is something RG3 and Josh failed to do.
This season is about the future and finding out what we have in our youth.

I don't understand the posts of "I don't want X player playing." It's not like we have a choice in the matter guys, if Mccown is hurt it's next man up.

So he's ready? Get your jerseys ready, guys!!! The future is here!! I like your optimism, but you were literally saying the exact same thing about Griffin about 15 days ago. Kessler would be a good career backup. He has no real future in the NFL as a starter.

Grossman was actually in camp with the Falcons this year. My guess is that we start Kessler and go with Hogan as the backup.

in a weird twist of fate, let's offer the Vikings the Eagles' 1st Round pick for one of their QB's
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

The thought of starting Kessler gives me cringes. Especially if Josh is taking a beating out there, that means Cody would be more a deer in the headlights and get crushed.
Austin Davis looking awesome about now... if we still had him. Man that Kessler pick upsets me.

At this point, even IF McCown possibly gets cleared to play next week, it's pointless.
As much as RG3 is made of glass, so is McCown. Yes, the O line has some responbility in that, but he just can not stay healthy since being on this team.
If we're gonna do this youth movement, might as well go all the way.
It's time to see what Cody has. Swish, aren't you making the bold assumption that Kessler isn't fragile? I guess we'll find out after 1 game.

Sooner or later might be... this Sunday. I can't imagine because any defensive coordinator after watching his poise and etc in preseason, I mean hell even Dick Jauron, would be dialing up pressures. Cody is a small Qb too, not capable of taking the hits.
It's just a very dark and gloomy spot we're in.

Josh McCown's left shoulder injury believed to serious; Kessler says ready but #Browns will explore options https://twitter.com/MaryKayCabot/status/777867498960093184

AP Writer, Tom Withers, said McCown couldn't use his injured arm to open the trainer's door. It doesn't look good.

If Cody has to play, Miami will stock the line and dare him to beat them passing. We are in trouble.

honestly, if you're going to start a rookie against two teams right now, you'd choose Miami and Washington (well, besides Cleveland)
they have struggled defensively

Most teams spend a ton of money on the skilled positions on offense..QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs..
These skilled position players will never reach their potential if the offensive line can't run block and pass block.
Looks like the Browns are going to be on their 3rd QB going into week 3...hope someone in the organization is learning from this "football" experience.
Your skilled position players on offense will never earn their pay if the offensive line can't protect their QB and block for their RB.

It's Cleveland - so of course we are debating whether we start our rookie 3rd string QB for game 3 of the season. Ouch. I don't have any confidence in Kessler. He seemed to regress by game 4 of the pre-season. If he's not ready - or super close to being ready - starting him on this team with a banged up OL and back up center .... not a good recipe for success in my opinion. I would entirely rather sign a vet of the street than ruin whatever small chance Kessler has of developing into a starting QB. On top of the simple pressure of being thrust into a situation due to injury and not on merit... there will be the additional antagonists who will relentlessly compare Kessler to Wentz (not a fair comparison at all since Wentz was #2 pick overall) .... and then the other comparison will be Dak. And while the comparison with Dak is a fairer comparison, it's still unproductive and inconclusive to compare the best performing late round talent that is performing above any pre-draft expectations - to the Browns players and picks .... and then trying to critique the FO. . . . I've said it elsewhere, Dak is a "fluke" - much like all the other non-drafted players who studed out and the late round picks like Brady who stud out... If anyone had any clue that those players were more than talented projects, they would not have lasted in the draft. Dak still has more to do to prove his ability to be a NFL QB to build a team around ..... but if I could straight up swap him for Kessler right now I would snatch your hand off. Hoping McCown isn't too bad - from what I saw, there's not much chance of that but ....
The more things change the more they stay the same.

If McCown is hurt, Kessler starts. You can't expect to bring in a body off the street- give them 6 days with a playbook and be ready to go. Like it or not, Kessler is in if McCown is out.
We obviously still need to sign a vet off the street. Why not Josh Freeman? He looked great as a rookie then tailed off hard and never seemed to get another chance.
I'll be choked if McCown is done with an injury. Although I capital H HATED the signing at the time, I've become a huge fan of the guy's skill, toughness and leadership.

If it wasn't for the injury to Josh, I'd disagree with you 100%. Josh didn't do a horrible job yesterday and he's tough as nails.
But, given that Josh is probably lost for a period of time, it looks like you will get your wish. Get Cody ready, get this Hogan kid up off the PS and bring in another arm quickly. I have a feeling we'll need them all.

Dak Prescott's pre draft ranking...6. Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State Height: 6-2. Weight: 226. Arm: 31.38. Hand: 9.88. 40 Time: 4.79. Projected Round (2016): 2-3. 4/25/16: Prescott really helped his draft stock at the Senior Bowl and combine. Team sources said they love his football I.Q., leadership skills and character. They feel he has the ability to quickly be a captain in a NFL locker room and a leader of men. At the combine, Prescott had a solid workout to maintain his rising status. However shortly after that event, Prescott landed a DUI arrest to put a damper on the enthusiasm around him. Prescott completed 66 percent of his passes in 2015 for 3,793 yards with 29 touchdowns and five interceptions. On the ground, he totaled 588 yards with 10 scores. the best QB we can probably acquire right now is probably Glennon. Personally, I do like the kid and believe he can be a legit starter in this league but why trade for a guy when you are on the path to likely 2 top 5 draft picks.

All the bad that can happen usually does that is why you prepare for the worse.
The Browns are beyond help from any one source.
The are very young and lack depth. The OL is going to get hammered. The pass rush which has been a major problem is not going to get better with the injury to Nassib.
Griffin not built to last. McCown a gutsy veteran aged 37 plays like he is in extreme X competition.
Worst case scenario is they tie the Lions going 0-16. At least they can't hold that record alone.
All they can do is try to get the players on the team to improve. And they better be over prepared for the draft.
This team is years away from mediocrity even with things going right.

Looks like Pryor will get the week 4 nod atter Kessler goes out with an injured shoulder.
