He's just in the instructional leagues I'm sure he could get out of that, it would be like Tebow has risen!

Jimmy would love that

Probably right. I am looking forward to the worst dysfunctional QB controversy of all time. Suppose all the bad options become available at the same time . . . .

I find it hard to believe Tebow couldn't find a spot on some roster in the NFL. He's better than many backups currently on rosters. He's also a pretty good athlete and could be converted to another spot.

I'd give him a shot as long as we are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I always thought he'd be a good FB or TE. Oh well, I'd say that ship has sailed.

This is kind of a "whatever" for me. I have noticed a trend recently in the NFL, it's not often discussed but I bet Elias has some stats on it... maybe.. but teams starting their 4th different QB of the season don't have a great track record of winning games or getting to the playoffs or being competitive..

So of any/all QBs out there that we could have signed, am I happy or upset with this signing... whatever.

So, late in the 3rd. They still lost big to a rookie QB just like us.

The announcers said that they had lost both starting Safeties, their Nickel Corner. and a starting LB in the 3rd.

That makes defense rather difficult. If you look at when the Eagles really started scoring, that was about it.

I'm not a Whitehurst fan but I believe I understand the move.

They know Kessler isn't close to being ready so they wanted a guy familiar with Hue's O in order to get him up and running quickly. Even if Kessler stays healthy, in a week or two, Whitehurst will be the starter.

I mean I'm not the only one who saw Kessler in the pre season, right?

He looked really bad for the most part.

He did have the one nice TD throw. Hopefully we'll see more of the second part.

I don't think he's as bad as he looked, but I'm not sure he'll ever be good either. We'll see how it goes.

I don't know how he will end up in the long run. It will take three years with a project QB to see his full potential. I believe that was the plan all along. To be patient. wait and groom him.

This is week three and I believe the coaching staff knows he's not ready and giving him shell shock won't help him in his development. That's whay I believe we'll see Whitehurst starting very soon.

Well, I figure that baseball season is just about ending which means we'll be on about our 5th QB and the only number left to dial will be Tebow.

Question is...Would he answer it?

The Cleveland Browns have signed OL Austin Reiter off Washington’s practice squad and QB Charlie Whitehurst. To make room on the roster, the team terminated the contact of DL John Hughes III and waived LB Scooby Wright III.

He's probably the only qb we can sign that can withstand the pounding the position is going to take behind our line.

Or we can just have our QB get the ball out on time.

Tim Tebow might make me feel like watching the Browns on Sundays. Tim Tebow has won a playoff game against the Steelers. Tim Tebow has won regular season games in the NFL; 8 or 9, I forget. Tim Tebow is big and can take a hit without breaking his shoulder or collar bone. Tim Tebow is a likeable person that I would like rooting for.

Jimmy - pretend I'm homeless (instead of just hopeless) - sign Tim Tebow to be Browns' QB until we find a long-term answer at QB.

I don't care how bad the Browns mess up, we always have posters like you defending every move they make and bashing anyone who questions what they are doing.

Gee, what a simple fix. I'm sure Offensive coordinators and head coaches have never considered that genius fact before.

I bet NFL qbs haven't considered that, either.

Heck, QBs have never been told to throw it on time. They also are not dependent on:

--teams falling off into coverage because they don't respect the run game.

--WRs running good routes.

--Receivers making hot reads and sight adjustments.

--Receivers getting open.

--Instant pressure where the qb has to move in the pocket.

Nah, it's a very simple thing. 1, 2, throw.

I go back to DA, and how things improved so much once Charlie "I am going to hold the ball, while running around aimlessly until I run myself into a sack" Frye was benched against Pittsburgh. DA did not set the world on fire in that 1st game, but he improved things a great deal. The ball came out quickly, and hit receivers as soon as they made their breaks and cuts.

I respect McCown, and his desire to make big plays ..... but he could have saved himself a ton of abuse, last year and this, by taking the play that was there, instead of waiting for plays to develop deep when the protection wasn't there.

Sometimes the QB has to take responsibility for his protection by seeing the field, and getting the ball where it needs to go with anticipation, rather than always waiting for the receiver to come 100% clear. Heck, you have said similar thing in the past.

Just wondering..............you do realize I understand that more than you do, right?

I was simply trying to point out [in a kind way] that there is more to the story than what cfrs was saying about throwing on time. It just isn't that simple, YTown.

It's a huge part of it and NO ONE has made that argument MORE than I have, but there is more to it.

Btw.............I read your post on that other thread about your pain. Thanks for thanking me and I truly do hope you are feeling better. PM me if there is anything I can do.

Not a PF post, but thanks. I went in for epidurals in my back, and I hope that they are having some effect. I finally managed to lie down and rest a bit, and that was good, until I woke up with really painful cramping in both legs. crazy

Anyway, thanks for the kind thoughts and words. Prayers are always appreciated.
