Some of the wildlife I ran into on the playa. Lord Snort... When I arrived on playa this sculpture could be spun and climbed by patrons. By mid week it had, while spinning, removed four fingers from one of the artists that helped create it. It no longer was able to spin from that point forward. ] Unknown title... There were 5 or 6 giant crows, 5' to 6' tall, in a cluster deep in the playa. It was well over a mile from my camp. Worth the bike ride for a set of great photos I took one morning. This is one of the photos. ] Medusa Madness... By day a chrome faced Medusa with snakes for hair. By night her fire breathing snakes made the playa shine. ]

Looks like you got both the short-necked and long-necked variety. LOL. I swear, I don't know how you sneak up all those birds to get such great shots.

I love that F-35 pic the most. You managed to get a fantastic capture of the afterburners on.
The Blue Angel shots are phenomenal, but the moment of the F-35 caught my eye the most.

Phone camera? You should get a DSLR if you can! You've got a great eye for photography. ------------------------------------- Kind of a cloudy day in the village today, but I wanted to venture out. Not many of my shots turned out great, but I like a few of them. Fall is starting to roll into bush Alaska, but the tundra grass shines bright green. No ice, yet. Hunters out looking for seal, but it looks like they came up empty. Not sure they noticed the mutant seagulls about to attack them.

I'm still working on my technique but I tried sneaking, I was terrible at it. Not even in sneakers could I properly sneak. I discovered I'm much better at not sneaking. Camo does seem to help.

Phone cameras today have pretty sophisticated technology. The latest Samsungs and iPhones have far better sensors than those point and shoot slim cameras. So, the photos one can get from them can be impressive. The positive is they allow instant access to a decent camera. The negative is they are not very flexible as the computer inside the phone does all the thinking. They have fixed apertures (often 5.6) and shutter speeds. Although, I believe some probably offer a high speed continuous shoot ("sport") setting and their are various apps one can download.

Although, I believe some probably offer a high speed continuous shoot ("sport") setting and their are various apps one can download. I use my iPhone 5. There are certain things I REALLY miss about an SLR but the ease of having such an accessible tool in my pocket makes using my iPhone the clear choice for most of my needs. An SLR would have given me a bunch more flexibility at Burning Man. I wasn't able to capture much of the art after dark. That's when Burning Man really gets weird. I also saw images in my mind that I couldn't take as I have no Fstop control or the ability to take telescopic photos. With that Burning Man is a very difficult environment on electronics. I can carry my iPhone in a ziploc bag in my pocket to keep the dust away. Where as a DSLR needs much more protection out there. And a ziploc bag won't cut it. ....I still want an SLR.

Nice! I looked out the window last night and witnessed an absolutely beautiful full moon eerily poking through the clouds. I raced to get the camera and tripod set up but was too late before the clouds totally took over.

What amazes me is how fast that little globe is truckin'. You can set a tight shot, lock in the camera and just watch it move across your screen.

It's really pronounced near the horizons. When you're trying to get pics of a supermoon rising, it seems like you only have a minute from the time you notice it until it's completely risen.

Portland in black & white. On a clear day you can see Mt. Hood towering above the city. However, today she was obscured by clouds. [img:left] [/img]

His wife and daughter had already taken off but I could barely get him to lift his head to look in my direction. He swallowed that frog in one smooth move. The series of shots was interesting. He leaned forward to get the frog situated properly, then picked his head back up and the frog was gone. Then he stretched his neck and opened his beak to look like he was burping. I picked up Woody this morning. Larger and how can you have Sunday football without a cardinal? Larger
