I've said Colorado is the state to watch for the whole ballgame. I don't think Trump wins Pennsylvania. It's too much of a blue wall state even though it's labeled a swing state. Colorado is tough to predict because it has some liberal / progressive views.

If he broke the tax laws, nail him.

If he used the existing tax LAWS as they are written, and broke no laws - then your problem is congress, ALL the congress' that wrote any of the existing tax laws. Not Trump.

Edited to add: Didn't Warren Buffet claim to have paid less in tax than his secretary? Buffet, the billionaire, paid less in taxes than his $50,000 a year secretary. I don't remember people being overly worked up about that.

Buffet is running for president? Link?

And multiple posters have expressed views on this board that anybody not paying their fair share is a problem.

No, not that I'm aware of. That's beside the point.

Perhaps you didn't read my entire post.

Let me paraphrase: If Trump paid no federal taxes, ILLEGALLY, then he should be nailed, according to the IRS rules.

If he paid no federal taxes LEGALLY, then this is a moot point. Take it up with the people that write the rules.

Remember all the tax cheats in Obama's administration?

Does the name Charlie Rangel ring a bell?

Cheat on taxes, get caught, pay the fine/price/penalty.

Pay no taxes because you used the IRS rules accordingly? What's the problem?

There's plenty of problems with that.

just because something is legal doesn't make it ethical.

But I guess that doesn't matter much to you. There's plenty of billionaires that do pay taxes. Most do.

I guess you're cool with him hoping the economy would tank so he could make money.

Again, perfectly legal, but doesn't make him any less of a scumbag.

Well, not to you anyway.

I hire an accountant every tax season to go through my taxes and take ever legal deduction they can come up with. If I'm allowed the deduction and I take it are you suggesting that my dealings with a licensed accountant are not ethical?

Trump gets a rare boost from a Wall Streeter

Donald Trump has been having a rough time rounding up support from Wall Street, but he attracted a pretty high-profile nod Wednesday morning.

Ken Moelis, a major player in the investment banking industry as head of Moelis & Co., predicted that Trump will ride an anti-establishment wave to take the presidency.

"The country is in a desperate desire for change," Moelis said at a Bloomberg conference. "I'm predicting that Donald Trump will win the election."

You, 40, and Arch are defending zero taxes.

Zero.

Sorry, won't EVER agree to that.

Where do get that I'm fine with it?

I've said REPEATEDLY, if he broke the IRS tax laws, he should pay whatever the penalty. Period. Read that again, and let it sink in.

As for if the economy tanks and he makes money? Did he do it unethically? If so, bad.

Do a little research on George Soros and how he makes a lot of money. But, he's a D, so it's probably fine.

Is George soros running for president?

You realize you keep deflecting to irrelevant people. Soros is a scumbag, but guess what? He isn't running for president.

Stay on topic.

Your boy is proud of not paying taxes. He said that he HOPED the bubble would burst so he could make money.

That's about as unethical as you can get. Wishing misfortune on the American people so you can make a buck.

That's disgusting.

So are Bill and Melinda Gates. What's that have to do with paying taxes?

And on a side note, as I don't know the answer: Has Buffet done it yet? Have the Gates done it yet? (I know they donate)......but, have either of them DONE it, or is it something that will happen after they die?

I'm not defending not paying taxes, I pay plenty of taxes but I keep just as much of my money as the law will allow me to keep. By the rules. As long as everyone else plays by the same rules I see no problem with it. Now if the rules aren't to your liking, then you should work to change them, I'm sure you'd find most everyone would be on board with fixing our tax code but as it stands now it's the tax code the IRS runs by and the only rules we have.

Wake up already! He was an Businessman at the time and it was his job to make money!

It was your Democrat Congressmen who passed Dodd/Frank making it possible for the Banks to crash the system!

continue that back peddle, though. soon enough, you and Arch will turn it into moon walking. MJ would be proud.

anyway, I don't know whether to be confused, laugh, be disgusted, or both at this article.

Taliban leaders watched U.S. presidential debate, blast 'non-serious' Trump

https://www.yahoo.com/news/taliban-leaders-watched-u-presidential-debate-blast-non-121625097.html

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Reuters) - Taliban leaders followed the U.S. presidential debate closely but heard nothing on Afghanistan, a spokesman said on Wednesday, adding that they were not impressed by Republican candidate Donald Trump, whom they considered "non-serious".

The leaders watched Monday's televised debate from a secret location in Afghanistan, but neither Trump nor Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton talked about their intentions for the country, the spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said by telephone.

"The main thing that we would like the next U.S. president to do is to learn from the mistakes of their predecessors," he said.

"Why are they hated worldwide? It's because of their aggressive policies. They invade other people's countries and kill innocent human beings for their vested interests."

The election winner will have to decide future policy for what has been America's longest war, started after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 triggered a U.S.-led campaign that toppled the Taliban government in Kabul.

President Barack Obama this year shelved plans to halve the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan and instead has kept 8,400 troops there until the end of his presidency, leaving further decisions to his successor.

Zabihullah also had harsh words for Trump, a political newcomer who has attacked what he calls the failed policies of the Washington political classes.

Taliban leaders considered Trump a "non-serious" candidate who said "anything that comes to his tongue," the spokesman said.

Both Obama, in whose administration Clinton served as Secretary of State, and former President George W. Bush had wasted 15 years and billions of dollars without being able to defeat the Taliban, he added.

"There is a choice for the upcoming president, whether he or she would like to suffer human and financial losses to continue their invasion of Afghanistan or they want to let the people of Afghanistan decide their affairs," Zabihullah said.

"If the new president doesn't change policy, the Taliban will continue their armed struggle until they are expelled from Afghanistan."

Which is why we have to get someone in power to push for new rules. Clinton sure isn't going to push for new rules. Trump, who knows what he'll do? Our do nothing congress is making too much money to make new rules. So in the absence of these new rules it's very difficult to say anyone is acting unethically when everyone is acting the same way.

going off topic. Buffet gave his money to Gates. Bill and Melinda run their charity work full time. They encourage any one with a billion dollars to donate half to charities. They are doing it now, and changing the world with their work.

Attack mode 101. You.

Answer this question: Have you read my posts?

Have you seen where I said "If Trump broke any IRS tax laws, he should pay the penalty, what ever that is?

And have you read where I said "If he paid no taxes, BUT obeyed the law. No problem."

Talk about deflection. You do it well.

READING COMPREHENSION, swish. Try it some time.

I am NOT defending breaking the tax code to not pay taxes. I'm against that. NO WHERE have I said ANY THING of the like - IF it was against the tax code.

What I HAVE said is if you can pay less in tax, or even no tax UNDER the U.S. TAX CODE, good for you.

I guess I'm just kind of sitting here and seeing what I've always felt come full circle. Younger generations have been labeled as the most "selfish" generation looking to exploit the system. Yet there are people on here right now praising a guy for gaming the system.

I don't. I have a problem with people that abuse it and aren't caught/punished/taken off it. Let's be very clear about that.

You're level headed enough, tell me - concerning Trump and taxes, exactly what have I said that is wrong?

No, the problem is young people who think following the law, paying what the law says you owe and don't owe, is gaming the system and is somehow unethical. Foolish youth. Lacking understanding of the laws.

I think you misunderstood (misunderestimated?) my statement.

I may have worded it poorly, but what I was getting at is the implication that he should have acted ethically instead of legally getting what is his, as if the other candidates already do this.

On the other side of the aisle, you have a candidate outright playing the pay-to-play game with her & her husband's foundation; basically allowing them to be outright bought - yet, that never finds its way to the Ethics Filter (not to mention that it is borderline felonious) that is supposed to be getting applied here.

If we're going to play the ethics card, lets hold everyone to it equally, otherwise, lets drop the charade that we care if they act ethically - especially when it gets regularly dismissed whether or not they even act legally.

Actually what Buffet said was that his "tax rate" was lower than his secretaries.

Nah, Trump isn't "gaming" the system. If he is, he should pay the penalty.

If he's not, and he truly, legally didn't pay any federal taxes under the IRS law, what's the big deal?

Heck, my wife used to get back all she paid in taxes PLUS almost $6000 each year. Them's the rules though.
