Maybe he's just hiding this last week to avoid all temptations before returning on Monday. But this is the Browns so I doubt it..

Is this shocking, in any form or fashion, to anyone?

He's a screw up and his priorities don't include the NFL/being a team player/adult anywhere near the top of those.

Man, I'm really bummed by hearing this news. I was really excited to see him on the field with Coleman and Pryor. I hope he gets himself straight and is able to muster some sort of NFL career.

Like with Manziel, I just hope the guy gets his life straightened out.

Man, he has talent that most players might just kill for .... and just cannot seem to control himself when it comes to alcohol and drugs. That is really sad. I am glad that he is getting help. I hope that it was his decision to do so .... but with him, I have to wonder.

Exactly.

Show me the trade that was offered. Nobody would offer a bag of balls for him for this very reason.

Pryor has replaced his production.

No more addicts on this team. Cut Armonty Bryant if he screws up again.

I thought there were rumors in the preseason about teams approaching the Browns about trading for him.

I think there were a few rumors that some teams might want to trade for him, but no teams were ever named or what they were offering.

with that said, I'm sure he's going to be done with the Browns, if not the NFL

There were a lot of posters on this board who had Gordon pegged better than I did.

I thought he'd make it.

This pothead loser is never coming back. Just ban him from the league already. I am tired of having hope for the hopeless.

I was wondering the same. Waiting now for the other shoe to drop ... that he tested dirty and is facing indefinite suspension by the league.

I don't think so, another positive test would be a lifetime ban. I am wondering if this maybe pre emptive to keep him on the straight and narrow

This doesn't make any sense.

This is what you do in the offseason.

Not the week before your return.

I don't get it.

Or, he doesn't want to play for the Browns. cfrs, you are probably right. He is positive and wants to look proactive rather than reactive.

Here's my guess. He knows he's tied to the Browns for the next 2 yrs. If he can get them to release him he gets a bigger payday of course with conditions he stays clean. We have no clue of a failed drug test. This may be his agent trying to max his profits.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Were YOU stoned? Why the hell would you waste a roster spot on meathead? This actually comes as a surprise to you? LMAO

Exactly. This is no surprise. Meathead is a loser. It's his nature to screw up and he is a HOFer at screwing up. It's why I call him meathead. He went out and partied, realized he was up for a [censored] test, and instead of being suspended for life.....he entered rehab. So he's there so he can avoid the league nailing him. NOT to really "concentrate on his health".

So, does ANYONE still think he's going to come back and "save the day" for Browns fans? He has the talent to be a top player. Unfortunately, he's dead from the neck up.

Frankly, I'm GLAD he's not coming back. Gives the kids more playing time. The more playing time all our draft kids get the better. What they go through this year, they will learn from for next season. Meathead was never going to be an "answer" at WR. If it wasn't this it would be something else. No way would I resign him. Throwing money at meat is like throwing a canister of liquid hydrogen on a fire........

Bigger payday from whom? No one is going to sign him to a huge deal. He's had ONE great season and has been suspended more than he's played. If he was interested at all in playing, he'd BE playing. He had a new lease on life handed to him and he just pissed it away. As I knew he would. Meathead is completely predictable. What is amazing to me is how many people are surprised. This is a man that got a DUI while awaiting an appeal hearing for his first year long suspension.

If he did test positive then he's suspended for at least a year again anyway. I think he knew he WOULD test positive and instead of doing so he rushed into rehab to avoid the test. I suspect rehab has Dr./patient privacy. So any test in there would be withheld from the league. Meathead isn't smart enough to have thought this up himself. Someone must have pointed the way for him.......

Or this could be tied to the paternity thing and he's stressed about it and contemplating doing drugs. Maybe he's making a good decision to get help before he does something stupid. It's all speculation right now.

I hope he gets the help he needs and gets his life together.

I think any new missed/failed test meant he was suspended indefinitely

This would put him on the non-football injury list I am guessing? If so, the Browns aren't required to pay him, he doesn't take up roster space and the team holds onto his rights.

No need to cut him - it's like when a player retires; his last team holds his rights if he ever decides to come back and play again.

The Jaguars still have Justin Blackmon under contract.
