that stretch of wall that's already completed.

My aunt said people are already scaling the walls on a routinely basis.

Walls are for political purposes.

we're talking about Walls.

This thread is about Trump and some of his policies.

is one of his policies not about building walls? the discussion has evolved.

It hasn't evolved. It was hijacked by the same people who scream their closed-minded ideologies over and over and over again on every political thread.

Like we don't hear the same crap enough on the Presidential threads.

Please tell me what kind of discussion you thought was going to come out of a thread titled, "Could the Dems best bet to ruin Republicans be for Trump to win?"

I appreciate the unique angle from Excl but I didn't find it all that plausible myself. Something else caught my eye and I responded to it. That's how these threads go sometimes.

Since you said please.

Perhaps we could have discussed about another party forming, or changing the way our two party system works, or the Republicans re-thinking their overall plan and how it relates to younger Americans.

You know..........something new instead of the same folks dominating each political conversation that does not involve discussion or debate, but instead finger-pointing, insulting the other candidate, and dictating to others what they should think.

None of you are going to change your minds about anything. There is no learning involved. No true discussion. Just a lot of chest-thumping, hard-headed rhetoric.

And those of us who are open-minded and want to be educated are drowned out by the constant screaming of the same old rhetoric that we've all heard a million freaking times.

who are you to determine who is open minded?

you realize that's a relative term, right? every poster on this board thinks they're open minded.

i understand your overall point, but you're taking petty shots for no reason.

I will get on to post more later but in the interest of talking Dems' strategy, here are a couple thoughts. I don't know if this is strategy per se but it would be a Democratic dream scenario:

- Hillary wins, grants amnesty and voting rights to 10 million+ illegal immigrants. Dems look the other way as millions more flood in. Net gain of millions of 'D' voters. Meanwhile, we're already 19 trillion dollars in debt and many of our own citizens are not being cared for.

- Republicans fracture themselves. There's a lot screwed up in the Republican party and I'm not disputing that. Ideally for the Democrats, a traditionally conservative (Tea Party) platform would become more prominent, or Gary Johnson stops being a weirdo and pulls more votes. Libertarians are more likely to be Republican; draw appropriate conclusions.

All it really takes is those two things to happen for our two party presidential system to turn into a one party presidential system. And as we all saw back in the summer, Democratic voters don't pick the Democratic nominee, the DNC does.

Someone who tries to see both sides of an issue rather than just saying all libs suck or all conservatives suck or all blacks suck or all whites suck, etc, etc, etc.

I will apologize for the shots. It just gets old. A lot of us who like to have deeper, more intellectual conversations [and I will include people like Clem, DC, and Purp here] don't get to have them because each political thread is the same thing over and over and over again.

I don't know, Swish............I hate the fact that I am speaking about limiting free speech. That is wrong. I will admit that. I just wish that not EVERY political thread wouldn't dissolve into the same stuff we have all heard a million times. I would like to move to higher level thinking on a thread or two. Not many, just one every once in awhile.

Is that too much to ask?

yes, because higher levels of thought require way more than a message board.

it requires verbal or visual communication. too many things can be taken the wrong way.

we all have our own idea on what a poster sounds like, and HOW they are saying it when reading post.

those dynamics alone make it all but impossible to communicate without somebody feeling some type of way.

and you want to gain a higher level of consciousness in a thread which title include the words "republican" and "trump".

good luck with that.

if you wanna get spiritual, you still got my #. hit me up, ill hit this joint, and we can gain multiple levels of consciousness together.

let's take this journey bro.

I hear you and again, I felt bad for getting on you guys for expressing your opinions. I'm about free speech. I just wanna take things higher sometimes and not always argue in the bunkers.

I probably should know better. Heck, as soon as I mentioned taking the music discussion to a higher level, I killed the Greatest Songwriters thread.

I'll call you again........not tonight, though. Football is on. LOL

You know what would be cool? If 4 or 5 of us could meet up and have a real pow-wow. Body language and tone of voice is important. I have several guys in mind, but don't want to name them because I don't want to hurt the feelings of the people I don't mention.

Actually, you were one of the guys I thought of bringing in. I like hearing both sides of things. It's boring as hell if everyone agrees.

Plus, I can smack you across your mouth for all the things you have said about me.....

..........Just kidding, refs. Don't suspend me. I really am kidding about the smacking part.
