I'm not disagreeing with you.. just saying that he is finally playing in an environment where he isn't expected to go win games and he isn't playing for Chip Kelly trying to run 80 offensive plays a game.

I think he is in a good situation and he is making the most of it... so far.

The big question has always been durability, he has proven in the past that he can play... if he has been coached up and is getting the ball out quicker, taking fewer shots, using the run game, and that allows him to stay healthy, then he should look pretty good for the rest of the year..

dep...yep, Bradford is getting killed behind that offensive line of his.

Bradford has been sacked 6 times this season...

...that would be about half the sack rate of the Browns offensive line, who have given up 11 sacks this season..so far.

mac, Bradford did not play in the first game.

I watch the Vikings quite a bit. Their OL was absolutely horrid last year. They signed two guys in free agency, but between injuries and disappointing play, their line is still struggling.

Sack totals are not an end-all in determining how well an OL is playing.

How long the qb holds the ball; open receivers; length of routes; playing from ahead or behind, etc all factor into sack totals.

don't forget QB hits.

I don't think signing Bradford and the risk he carried, without an extension, and for the price demanded was tenable.

Bradford has talent, but I still feel like he is injury prone. How can you not question his ability to stay healthy based on his track record. . . Having said that - just like Wentz, we'd be a better team if Bradford was our QB (and stayed healthy).

Just a thought: if Teddy had gotten hurt, say, in Week 2, Bradford could possibly have been a Brown after our top 2 qbs went down. We might have traded for him, which would have been quite ironic.

My point..their OLine is not playing as poorly as some indicate...with the OLine giving up 6 sacks in 4 games (Bradford starting 3 games)...

On the other elements that contribute to a QB being sacked, we agree.

Sack stats don't reflect how poor that o-line is. Matt Kahlil was a bust before he got injured at LT. On the right side Andre Smith is out and was playing pretty poorly before he got hurt.

Did you watch the Packer game where he got hit 10 times and had to get x-rays?

Well, FWIW, you made it sound like they would make the playoffs for sure and like I said, wake me when they get there and I'll be glad to eat some crow.. I just don't believe he can stay healthy....

Thanks. Any idea what kept him out of two games? No need to look it up. Just wondering if you know it off the top of your head.

Not sure either,, you may be right.

I know from looking at this

http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/13197/sam-bradford

Bradford missed the entire 2014 Season. All in all, he's had the opportunity to play in 100 games, and he's played in 66. 66%. (not high math LOL)

To answer your direct question, he play in 14 games last season with the Eagles. So that isn't so bad in and of itself.

Looks like he missed a 1/3 of games. I don't know, is that enough to say he's not reliable or does it say that I'm over thinking it?

He was on the active list for 14 games. I think that he was injured, and did not play, in 4.

Well, let me check the game logs:

You're right, he did start 14 games last year.

I agree with you. I think that the Vikings are set up to allow the QB to manage the game, and nothing more. Through 4 games, their team has 2 rushing TD, 4 passing TD, 1 INT return for a TD, 1 fumble return for a TD, and 1 PR for a TD. (along with a Safety) The key to that team is not making mistakes, and allowing the defense to win games. Their defense is 2nd in the NFL in points allowed per game, at 12.5. That is almost obscene, especially when you consider that they have played the Packers, and Panthers (along with the Giants and Titans) in their 1st 4 games.

Now I will say that the Vikings have put together some nice, long scoring drives. They also happily take FGs instead of taking chances for the TD. That team is a defensive juggernaut. Their philosophy seems to be; "If the other team can't score, they can't win". They are built to win with that philosophy.

comp%... YDS... TD... INTS... RATING

69.5.... 719 ....4 ....... 0 ...... . 105.5

I would venture a guess that after coming in on a weeks notice and go 3-0 is pretty darn good.

In Bradford's 3 starts, the Vikings have allowed 14, 10, and 10 points.

The defense drives that team. Bradford has done a nice job of playing under control, and much like Trent Dilfer did in Baltimore, not screwing things up.

yup...like I said on a weeks notice. doing good imo. avg 239 yds a game and no INTS..not bad. but yea kinda Dilferish...a tad better tho I think.

Bradford is definitely a better QB than Dilfer. I compared their roles more than their actual ability. I think that Bradford is more talented, but he is also not the driving force on the Vikings. That honor belongs to their defense. All he has to do is not screw things up.

Based in ignorance? C'mon Vers...It's simply a different opinion. Why do you insist on doing crap like that?

On to the thread: I disagree completely. Bradford hasn't proven that he can STAY healthy, makes way too much money and has indicated (reportedly) he doesn't want to be here.

Bridgewater has never been special and I don't think he ever will be. Even without that god-awful injury. People want to slam on CK for checking down? Watch Bridgewater.

I also don't want either of those guys. However, the team is safe because they stopped asking me for my input about 52 years ago.

I was the guy who said we might have a shot at either Bridgewater or Bradford early in the thread. Sure looks like he is saying that opinion is ignorant. Laughing like a blowhard. "OMG." "crap" Etc

I don't think wanting Bridewater or Bradford is ignorant at all. You adore Kessler, but knock Teddy. LOL

Teddy was on the verge of a breakout season, and that is coming from reputable sources like Zimmer, Norv, Spielman, teammates, etc.........not some guys no a message board that love everything Brown and hate everything else.

You left out your quote that I was referring to...here...I'll leave it for you again:

I was criticizing you for THAT...well-deserved I might add.

And then this one as you got all butt hurt for being called out:

Quote:
I don't think wanting Bridewater or Bradford is ignorant at all.

Who said it was? If it was posted earlier, I missed it.

To clarify words you are trying to put in my mouth:

I don't adore CK. I'm very intrigued by the guy and want to see more. I find myself wondering how far along he'd be today if he was the starter way back in OTAs through now. I like the guy because he is soooo much better than anyone expected. I knock Teddy because he is soooo much more mediocre than many expected and attempt to see/convince. (Edited to add: Didn't his mother say she didn't want the Browns to draft him?)

Lastly your opinion that the following is aimed at me:

Quote:
...not some guys no a message board that love everything Brown and hate everything else.

If you really knew me, you'd understand how funny that comment is to me. I'll save the emoticon so as to not offend.

Durability...is beginning to be one of my major concerns. Bradford's injury history would concern me, playing behind our new OLine.

Bridgewater...the Browns didn't draft him when they had the chance...big mistake...but now that he is dealing with an injury that occurred "without contact", I would be concerned about his durability, also.

If Kessler improves, he might be the answer..but after 2 games, I have serious questions about his arm strength and his durability will be tested on a weekly basis.

The Browns are likely to have another chance at a top QB in the next draft if Kessler does not work out.

Not drafting Bridgewater was not a mistake.

Not drafting Carr was.

Bridgewater is solid. Carr is special. He's everything you want in a franchise QB. Big, tall, great arm, great worker, continues to show improvement with each passing year, with each passing game.

If we had drafted Teddy, the narrative on here would be that we should have drafted Carr, and rightfully so, IMO.

Carr is good. No doubt.

But, Teddy did what they asked him to do. They were asking more of him this year and he was demonstrating that he was capable. He wins. That is foreign to Brown's fans, but some people actually think it is important. Furthermore, in the playoff game w/frigid temperatures, Teddy outplayed Russel Wilson. He made tough throws in extreme conditions.

If he becomes available, the Browns would be foolish to not pursue him. Provided he is healthy, of course.

You are entitled to your opinion.

Ignoring the scouting report the Browns paid for that recommended Bridgewater, and drafting Manziel was one of the biggest mistakes Haslam has made...he set the franchise back years and we still have not recovered.

Bridgewater came as advertised...the most NFL ready QB of that draft class..IMO.

I agree about Carr. At the time I wanted him more than Johnny by a LONG shot. Just a terrible decision by whoever made it (most likely Haslam)

They were both available. Browns could have picked either one. I don't think anyone would be complaining about going away from the report had the Browns taken Carr.

Not a big Teddy fan but I thought he has played very well for a Norv Turner offense. this was not the best scheme for him and a much better fit for Sam Bradford.

You put Teddy in more of a true small ball offense and I think he can be a probowler.

Hell right now I am pretty intrigued by what I am seeing in Cody Kessler. I think he has the best mental approach to the game from any QB we have had since Bernie. gotta get him stronger physically and that will happen as he matures and gets in a true NFL program.

QB class will probably have 4 guys in the first but I am yet to be wowed by any QB in this draft class. I would go Garrett over all of them. kid reminds me of Dumerville.
