I have a severe misunderstanding of what a fumble recovery is, I guess I'm flying solo. I'll figure it out

Stop w/the bad calls, nonsense. it happens. We got some calls, too.

Now, to the game:

--Indiana is much improved. They are way faster than any team we have played, including Oklahoma.

--Throwing in the wind is tough for almost every qb.

--We won by 21 and it could have easily been 28 if we had wanted it to be, and it seems like a bad performance. The Browns lose by 11 and the fans say it was a good performance. LOL

--We have so many different guys on defense that make plays. It's hard to name them all. It's amazing. They keep coming in on waves. One guy after another makes plays.

--We haven't talked about this, but I think the hire of Greg Schiano was huge for this defense. He knows how to bring pressure and take away what offenses do best.

--We gotta get Samuel more touches.

--The TE........number 85 makes too many mistakes. Replace him for a short time and let him "get it."

--We are still in the hunt.

I just wanted to make sure I understand what a fumble recovery is, because I'm not sure. Not so much a subjective pass interference call, I thought fumble recoveries were definitive.

There was no conclusive evidence that proved we recovered it. Calls go both ways in every game.

I would rather talk about the game than concentrate on a call by the referees.

Have to say I was impressed with the Hoosiers today. Didn't think it would take as long to pull away from them as it did.

I agree about Baugh, nice sized big guy but needs to work on his hands. Also, I think he was the one who let a defender go by on one of those last drives that cost a first down.

I do wish we'd rely less on JT running the read option and making him more of a pocket passer as well.

I really think Indiana is on track to being a good program. Their coach has gradually improved them.

Meyer was VERY complimentary a few days ago when I heard him.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

This is absolutely true. Man, we were really fortunate when he came to Columbus. The only bad thing is that he will probably be gone next year. I hope that Luke Fickel soaks up all he can while Schiano is around.

Urban gets coaches to commit for 2 years. Don't be shocked if Schiano stays another year.

He signed a one year deal only.

Why Ohio State assistant Greg Schiano signed only a one-year contract | cleveland.com
http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2016/03/why_did_ohio_state_assistant_g.html

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The typical Ohio State football assistant coach contract lasts for two seasons. Greg Schiano's contract is for one year.

The Buckeyes' new co-defensive coordinator knows that's something that has been noticed since Ohio State released his $600,000 contract this week. He knows other teams recruiting against Ohio State might notice it, too.

"I would not read into that," Schiano said when asked by cleveland.com after the second practice of spring football Thursday. "It's more of a business thing for me because I'm still under contract at another place and all that stuff.

"I would not read into it from another way, because I know people would like to read into it who are recruiting (against Ohio State), 'Oh, he's not going to be there.' I wouldn't read into that. It's more of a business thing for me personally."

That place is with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who fired Schiano two years into a five-year, $15-million deal in December of 2013.

Deals like that typically work this way - you're owed the money. But if you get a new job, what you make at the new place is taken out of what the old team owes you.

Getting Schiano - a head coach at Rutgers for 11 seasons and with the Bucs for two seasons - for $600,000 is pretty cheap. According to the USA Today database of salaries for college assistants, 39 assistants made more than that last year.

He was making $2.3 million his final season at Rutgers in 2011 before getting his $3 million per year deal in the NFL.

Schiano's contract with Tampa will run out after this year. This is just me talking, but if I knew my new employer might be willing to pay me, say, $800,000 a year and I was in Schiano's spot, I might say pay me $600,000 this year and $1 million next year, when the Bucs won't owe him anything.

He's not going to work for free now. He wants to keep up appearances. But something like that just seems like good money management.

It certainly would also make sense that a 49-year-old coach who already has 13 years in as a boss will be looking to get back to running his own program as soon as possible.

After all, the coach who replaced him in Tampa, Lovie Smith, also got fired and already has a new gig as the head coach at Illinois. Meyer typically asks for a two-year pledge from assistant hires, but none of his previous assistants were former NFL head coaches.

"That's between he and I," Schiano said when asked if Meyer asked for a longer commitment. "But we have talked about how important it is."

That's the talk. The contract is for one year.

No, it's not. I thought that you meant that he is under contract for 2 years, and as far as I can tell, he is not. I must have not understood what you meant.

I would love for him to stay another year, because we stand a good chance of making the Championship playoffs this year, and we'll only get better next year as young players gain experience.

It was shocking how poorly he threw the ball. I hope he was sick or something.

Also, being a downer on my part. I think a lot has to deal with our WRs not stepping up. Outside of Noah Brown, who has played well? If you asked some random Buckeye fan who our #2 WR was they probably couldn't tell you. Mclaurin hasn't done squat. Campbell is streaky at best. Clark and Dixon give us nothing. Marcus Baugh at tight end is useless. I'm cautious on Brown because he's had 1 good game that has inflated his stats. This was a problem last year outside of Michael Thomas.

You're probably right. We have lost some good coaches.

I'm going to enjoy Schiano while he is here, no matter how brief. This team has a legitimate chance to win it all.

Agreed about Schiano. He's been so good for us. He'll probably be a HC very soon again, but his job with the secondary especially is great

I think we can live with that. Especially with any post season football being in either good weather or controlled weather situations. You just worry about November and the elements possibly limiting him.

The other good thing is that I don't see him with any pro potential whatsoever at the QB position, so he's definitely coming back next year regardless.

I'm impressed with Indiana. They have really come a long way. Still quite a bit to go, but they are no longer that Big Ten doormat. We'll just leave that to Rutgers. Just wow.

I wish the Big would never have brought Rutgers in. It was purely a marketing move that might have actually hurt the conference more than what the possibilities of revenue can offset.

Maryland and Rutgers just aren't "Big 10" teams.. maybe that's a good thing or not.

It helps open up recruiting in that area a tad bit more I guess..

Nebraska was a good add, except I hate watching them play Wisconsin, so confusing..

The other big option was Missouri, who's done well in the SECs weaker division..

Heck, I would prefer Cinci over Rutgers. LOL..........yeah, it's that bad.

No. 2 Ohio State at No. 8 Wisconsin line, game pick: A Big Ten Title preview?

The Badgers host the Buckeyes in a top-10 battle that promises plenty of defense
Ben Kercheval

What will the Big Ten Championship look like later this year? We might get a preview of it in Week 7 when Ohio State travels to Wisconsin.

In some ways, both teams have been pleasant surprises. Ohio State was the preseason favorite to win the Big Ten, but how many people outside Columbus thought a team that had just lost 12 players to the draft (and then some in undrafted free agency) would look this impressive this quickly? Even for a recruiting wizard like Urban Meyer, this team looks slightly ahead of schedule.

If you really want to talk surprises, though, look no further than the Badgers. At 4-1, the lone loss is by seven points to Michigan. And while the wins over LSU and Michigan State have lost some luster, there's no question this team has outperformed expectations.
Can Wisconsin keep it going in its biggest game of the year... at home... at night?

Ohio State storyline: Last week, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said Indiana had "the best defense we've faced, and that includes Oklahoma." That bold statement didn't include an important, but implied caveat: "so far." (By the way, Ohio State won 38-17.) The Buckeyes will face stiffer defenses over the next seven weeks, starting in Week 7 against the Badgers. Wisconsin ranks as the sixth-best defense nationally according to S&P rankings from Football Outsiders -- one spot ahead of Ohio State.

The Buckeyes' offense has been good; it's hard to argue with 53.2 points per game. However, the passing attack has been hit-or-miss. J.T. Barrett completed 43 percent of his passes vs. Indiana and a consistent deep threat the likes of Michael Thomas or Devin Smith hasn't emerged yet. The Heisman race continues to be Lamar Jackson's to lose, but Barrett can make a big push for himself with a good showing against the Badgers. If Ohio State can get some explosive plays through the air, it should be cooking.

Wisconsin storyline: Have the Badgers overachieved? Or are they continuing to benefit from past narratives? On one hand, Wisconsin gave Michigan the fight of its season so far in a 14-7 loss. On the other, wins over LSU and Michigan State aren't anything close to the "top-10" victories they were at the time. We'll get a much better understanding of what Wisconsin is and isn't after this weekend. Keep in mind, too, the Badgers are still in the middle of a tough stretch with games against Iowa and Nebraska remaining.

The key for Wisconsin is to keep this game lower scoring. The Badgers are effective running the ball when healthy, but don't possess a particularly explosive offense.

Game pick: Wisconsin +10.5. Defense alone makes Wisconsin against the spread enticing. Ohio State can put together some potent drives, but this will easily be the best defense it has faced all season. Neither team gives up a lot of points, but Ohio State has been particularly good at turning takeaways directly into points. The Badgers need to be careful there, especially with what has been a below average passing attack. Ultimately, Wisconsin has the defense to keep this interesting, but Ohio State has shown it can go on the road and pick up big wins.

Really don't think we shoulda got dinged 15 yards for being a couple feet behind a ref.

Also don't like the fact that we're not trying to throw the ball. This play calling reminds me of the 'rely on Braxton Miller's athleticism' that cost us the Big 10 championship against MSU a few years ago.

Nope, we got a warning for sideline interference, then when the ref was wheeling his arm around for whatever reason he hit Urb in the head and got another call for interference.
