Was he convicted?
I only ask because we have a ton of people on this board who always go:
Wait til the facts come out
Innocent until proven guilty
Did it with George Zimmerman, did it with multiple police brutality cases, did it with corporations. Didn't do it with the birthed movement.
So I ask, does the same standard apply? Or does it only apply to people/situations you agree with?
What's the standard? it's all I ever asked.
Also, bill Clinton isn't running for president.
People can get mad all they want, but I'm pointing out double standard.
Either we will believe anything we see regardless of facts or convictions, or we don't.
So which is it
This isn't a deflection either. Just admit that its feelings over facts, and I won't say anything.

I don't like Trump, but was he convicted of sexual abuse? If not, why did you blast him?
You guys should play fair.

From the other thread in regards to 40s comment [ether] Talk to the Supreme's they made it the law of the land. No one is forcing you to abort, 40. Isn't a sin, depending on the science of conception and all, a sin? Why not rally against banning pornography? Why not rally against swearing? Why not rally against those who embrace sexual assault? Oh wait... -Planned Parenthood's harvesting and selling of human body parts. Hastily edited videos, much like the ACORN "expose", that completely misconstrue the whole deal. But...your feelings mean more than any facts, apparently. -Men using showers and bathrooms with our Daughters. See "slippery slope logical fallacy", and the science behind MRIs of transgendered individuals. But, once again, no fact holds to the weight of 40s feelings. -A Rapist Bill Clinton back in the White House. Not sure how consensual sex outside of marriage, despite it happening at last twice while in some sort of public office, equates to rape? People should go to law enforcement if they believed they've been raped. -The Registering to vote of dead people. -The Registering to vote of Illegal Aliens. Voter fraud, the miniscule amount that actually does take place, tends to benefit GOP candidates. You should look up the studies on that, but 40s feelings always hold more weight than scientific studies. Choose the President who will not Veto anything from Congress that attempts to change these. Choose the president who will best represent all American voters. Not just the president who will represent heterosexual white Christian Males. Doubt we need a president who boasts on his ability to grab female genetalia in public, either. [/ether]

You guys should play fair. What have a blasted him for? As I told Ted, what he said about the woman is whatever. Here's what I have a problem with: He blatantly admitted to trying to smash a married woman, while he himself is married. He implies that sexual harassment is A-ok to do. See, once again Vers, this is how I know that you ignore everything that I post. I have said over, and over, and over again that Trump wants to use Clintons marriage against her, then his marriage...excuse me, marriages are EQUALLY fair game. I don't care about his marriage, or love life, or cheating. However, once he decided to use that angle, and he opened himself to the SAME criticism. So I don't know why you have a problem with my post. I'm only doing what you constantly CRY about on this board: making sure there's equal critiscm. Looking at both sides. So, again, if we're gonna criticize and believe an ACCUSATION about somebody who isn't even running for president as a way to bash the person who is, then certainly the SAME claims can be made about the guy who IS running for the president. It's only fair, right Vers? Fairness? How about you check other people's post for a change. Barking up the wrong tree. If clintons accusation of rape is ok, then trumps own words about sexual harassment/assault is fair game. Trump said it, not me.

Bill Clinton may not be running for president, but he was the last Democratic president before Obama, was he not? He's still actively involved in politics, and had a 'curious' meeting with Loretta Lynch (who Bill had previously nominated as a federal attorney) at a time when Hillary was facing a possible indictment, right? More relevantly, the tweets in the OP accuse both Bill and Hillary of disgusting behavior. How much truth there is to those claims, I obviously do not know. By the way, you Hillary supporters out there have been played for fools. Read: https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/927

His scandalous past has resonated over the past few weeks not because of fresh insights into Clinton’s unsavory conduct but because of society’s diminished tolerance for workplace sexual harassment — and for what it says about Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Maureen Dowd addressed that point succinctly and well, pointing out in her New York Times column that Trump had wielded “his knife on her most sensitive pressure point: her hypocrisy in running [for president] as a feminist icon when she was part of political operations that smeared women who told the truth about Bill’s transgressions.
“Hillary told friends that Monica was a ‘troubled young person’ getting ministered to by Bill and a ‘narcissistic loony toon.’ Hillary’s henchman Sidney Blumenthal spread around the story that Monica was a stalker and Charlie Rangel publicly slandered the intern as a fantasist who wasn’t playing with ‘a full deck.'”

I definitely do no want Hillary Clinton to be elected strictly because of her policies. Heck, she may even be a nice person in real life (I somehow doubt this). Just like with Obama. To me he seems like the type of person you'd like to sit down with and have a beer but she gives off this cold ice attitude and she's not relatable to AT ALL, and I mean AT ALL. Both her and Trump do come across as fakes and disingenuous. I just wish, that if someone like her were to get elected that she'd at least have an attitude that I'd like, but she doesn't have that or policies (at least to me).
Find what you love and let it kill you.

My homeboy is a trump supporter. Apparently his wife dug into his ass about Trumps comments as if he was the one who said it.
Trump out here destroying marriages he ain't even apart of.
Oh wait he's already been doing that. My bad guys.

In her finding of contempt of court, Judge Wright issued a scalding opinion saying the “record demonstrates by clear and convincing evidence” that Clinton at the deposition gave “false, misleading and evasive answers that were designed to obstruct the judicial process.” Simply stated, Wright wrote, “the President’s deposition testimony regarding whether he had ever been alone with Ms. Lewinsky was intentionally false, and his statements regarding whether he had ever engaged in sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky likewise were intentionally false ….” The penalty the judge imposed was unprecedented: No court had held a sitting president in contempt, as I note in 1995, adding that Wright also ordered the president to pay nearly $90,000 to cover legal fees and other expenses that Jones’s lawyers incurred as a result of the falsehoods he told under oath.” The lawyers had sought nearly $500,000. Webber had dismissed the Jones lawsuit in April 1998, saying the evidentiary record failed to reach the threshold of sexual harassment under federal law. But Jones’s lawyers appealed and in November 1998 — as the House of Representatives was preparing to consider articles of impeachment — Clinton agreed to pay $850,000 to settle the case out of court. The settlement was accompanied by neither Clinton’s apology to Jones nor acknowledgement of any wrongdoing. (He had offered in 1994 to settle the Jones lawsuit.) On the last full day of his presidency in 2001, Clinton acknowledged having given false testimony at the deposition in 1998 and surrendered for five years his license to practice law in Arkansas, his home state. Clinton also agreed to pay a $25,000 fine to the Arkansas Bar Association. Conceding to having falsely testified, and surrendering the law license, were key elements of a deal struck with Robert W. Ray, the independent counsel who wrapped up legal matters that remained after Clinton’s impeachment. The agreement with Ray removed the prospect of criminal prosecution after his presidency: Out of office, Clinton would not face indictment for misconduct arising from the sex-and-lies scandal. The New York Times described the agreement “a stunning end to the long melodrama and pitched legal battles over President Clinton’s relationship with a White House intern.” But such significance was decidedly absent in Clinton’s acknowledgement that he had given false testimony under oath. Clinton said in a statement that was read aloud in the White House briefing room by his press secretary, Jake Siewert: “I tried to walk a line between acting lawfully and testifying falsely, but I now recognize that I did not fully accomplish this goal and that certain of my responses to questions about Ms. Lewinsky were false.” To the end, Clinton was hedging and dodging. https://1995blog.com/2016/01/19/beyond-impeachment-the-penalties-bill-clinton-paid/

Swear to god it's a non stop yoga session on this board. You argue with me in these threads more than everybody else on the board combined. I do try to give thoughtful responses but I can't get to everything. I don't care to go back and forth on this right now but one thing I will say is that you should think about the ramifications of requiring a conviction as evidence of wrongdoing as I think you will find holding the justice system to that standard will often work against your arguments.

Cause I don't agree with you most of the time, so of course I will challenge your stances.
Anyway, Why not?
That's what goes on all the time. People pick and choose when to believe the law or not.
So I'm asking when does the standard apply, and when doesn't it?

Well, they are NOT off the mark for me.
I don't care how low y'all go, I will not lower myself to that type of rhetoric. Fairness, logic, and reason are important to me. They surely trump trying to win some unwinnable political argument.

Melania Trump just blasted her husband.
Whoopsie!!!! Of course. Trump made some asinine statements 11 years ago. I do not condone that type of speech, I think he owed people an apology and to his credit, he delivered. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/784609194234306560I would not want a man to talk the way he did about my girlfriend, sister, or mother, but I also realize we're talking about an off the record conversation from over a decade ago. I am not just casting a vote for who I think holds themselves to the highest ethical standard. In that case, I would have wanted Jill Stein or Bernie Sanders to win and those are the candidates whose policies I probably disagree with the most. Trump may have a big mouth but at the end of the day, he is still the most capable person in the race and has the best policies for American citizens. If his wife accepts his apology, that is good enough for me.

So trump can be married and try to smash a married woman, imply that sexual assault is good to go, and as long as melania accepts his apology, it's all good?
Explain to me why you have a double standard, again? Hillary accepted Bills apology. Shouldn't you be over it now?
And round and round we go!!

But, what about the comments about HRC threatening that woman who claims she was raped by BC?
Is that okay?

According to Haus, it most certainly is.
And I don't know, because I'm not a woman who got cheated on.
This is what I do know:
To answer your question first so I won't deflect, I've seen first hand how women lash out to the woman accusing their man of cheating or doing whatever. Every single time:
My husband didn't do this.
You're full of crap.
Imma sue your ass
Etc etc etc.
So I dunno what it's like to to be a woman, and don't know what it's like to be cheated on. But I'm pretty sure the stages of grief applies.
And apparently, she was right, as no court convicted him to be guilty of raping a woman.
Here's what I also know:
Not once have a ever had a conversation about willingly sexually harassing a chick with my homeboys
Not once have I ever tried to move on a married woman.
Not once have I been divorced(again, because trump made relationships free game political talk, his marriages are up for the same criticism)
So as a husband and a father of two daughters, I understand why Hillary lashed out.
A. She wasn't the one who cheated. And B, nobody wants to believe that the love of their life would do something like that.
So just from my perspective, what you're saying isn't even remotely comparable.
You just tried to compare a guy who admitted to cheating and sexual harassment to a woman who just got scorned by the love of her life.
That's not even apples to oranges. That's something else entirely.

They all probably cheat.
It seems apparent that politicians seem to get caught up in this crap as much as celebrities. It's gotten to the point that it's hard to even tell them apart.
But either all of their marriages are free game, or none of them are.

Explain to me why you have a double standard, again? Hillary accepted Bills apology. Shouldn't you be over it now?
And round and round we go!! My explanation was in response to your post about Melania blasting her husband. I meant it in that context. I don't particularly care what goes on in Donald and Melania's marriage. That's pretty much what I meant by it. I don't know what else you want me to say. Again, I don't condone that type of speech, I do not talk like that, and my personal behavior and style is much closer to Mike Pence's than Trump's. Scott Adams the blogger: http://blog.dilbert.com/post/151504993671/why-does-this-happen-on-my-vacation-the-trumpBy now you know about the Access Hollywood recording in which Donald Trump said bad things eleven years ago. Many of my readers asked me to weigh in. One of the requests came from anti-Trump GOP elite person Erick Erickson. (Middle name Erick, I assume.) This was his polite request and my response. Read it from bottom to top.
image Challenge accepted!
I’ll give you my thoughts, in no particular order.
1. If this were anyone else, the election would be over. But keep in mind that Trump doesn’t need to outrun the bear. He only needs to outrun his camping buddy. There is still plenty of time for him to dismantle Clinton. If you think things are interesting now, just wait. There is lots more entertainment coming.
2. This was not a Trump leak. No one would invite this sort of problem into a marriage.
3. I assume that publication of this recording was okayed by the Clinton campaign. And if not, the public will assume so anyway. That opens the door for Trump to attack in a proportionate way. No more mister-nice-guy. Gloves are off. Nothing is out of bounds. It is fair to assume that Bill and Hillary are about to experience the worst weeks of their lives.
4. If nothing new happens between now and election day, Clinton wins. The odds of nothing new happening in that timeframe is exactly zero.
5. I assume that 75% of male heads of state, including our own past presidents, are total dogs in their private lives. Like it or not, Trump is normal in that world.
6. As fictional mob boss Tony Soprano once said in an argument with his wife, “You knew what you were getting when you married me!” Likewise, Trump’s third wife, Melania, knew what she was getting. It would be naive to assume Trump violated their understanding.
7. Another rich, famous, tall, handsome married guy once told me that he can literally make-out and get handsy with any woman he wants, whether she is married or not, and she will be happy about it. I doubted his ridiculous claims until I witnessed it three separate times. So don’t assume the women were unwilling. (Has anyone come forward to complain about Trump?)
8. If the LGBTQ community wants to be a bit more inclusive, I don’t see why “polyamorous alpha male serial kisser” can’t be on the list. If you want to label Trump’s sexual behavior “abnormal” you’re on shaky ground.
9. Most men don’t talk like Trump. Most women don’t either. But based on my experience, I’m guessing a solid 20% of both genders say and do shockingly offensive things in private. Keep in mind that Billy Bush wasn’t shocked by it.
10. Most male Hollywood actors support Clinton. Those acting skills will come in handy because starting today they have to play the roles of people who do not talk and act exactly like Trump in private.
11. I’m adding context to the discussion, not condoning it. Trump is on his own to explain his behavior.
12. Clinton supporters hated Trump before this latest outrage. Trump supporters already assumed he was like this. Independents probably assumed it too. Before you make assumptions about how this changes the election, see if anyone you know changes their vote because of it. All I have seen so far is people laughing about it.
12. I hereby change my endorsement from Trump to Gary Johnson, just to get out of the blast zone. Others will be “parking” their vote with Johnson the same way. The “shy Trump supporter” demographic just tripled.
13. My prediction of a 98% chance of Trump winning stays the same. Clinton just took the fight to Trump’s home field. None of this was a case of clever strategy or persuasion on Trump’s part. But if the new battleground is spousal fidelity, you have to like Trump’s chances.
14. Trump wasn’t running for Pope. He never claimed moral authority. His proposition has been that he’s an [censored] (essentially), but we need an [censored] to fight ISIS, ignore lobbyists, and beat up Congress. Does it change anything to have confirmation that he is exactly what you thought he was?
My thoughts above have more to do with reason than persuasion. And that means you can ignore all of it because reason is not part of decision-making when it comes to politics. On the persuasion level, all that matters is whether this new development changes what you already assumed about Trump.
Personally, it didn’t change what I assumed about Trump’s personal life. Your mileage may vary.
I hope this answers all of Erick Erick Erickson’s questions.

Whoopsie!!!! Y'know he used to do radio spots giving 'advice', one of them was on the value of a prenup, wouldn't doubt he's gonna need that thing in the not too distant future. He even said during this spot that he knew that he and Melania were going to split up at some point. I wonder if it looks like there's a big top circus tent over America from outer space.

According to Haus, it most certainly is. No, that is not what I said. So why is it so hard to say it? If Melania accepting the apology is good enough for you, then Bills apology to Hillary means you won't ever bring it up again, Right? Again, I meant that in the context of the marriage, which I don't particularly care about. Any separate issues, for example the allegations that Hillary Clinton threatened/intimidated rape victims into silence, obviously cannot go away by apologizing to Bill. That wouldn't make any sense.

I do not like Donald Trump. I do not want him to be our president. I also do not like Hillary. I do not want her to be our president.
With that said, I did like Bill Clinton as our president. I was living high during his presidency and I thought he made a lot of wise decisions that helped us out financially...........and by us......I am talking about guys like me.
The rhetoric against Bill back then was that he was such a scoundrel. My response was "so what?" I liked him because of what he could do for my family, my country, and myself economically.
I did not give a rat's butt about his personal life as long as it did not compromise the safety of our country. Cigars......LOL. Who cares? All I knew is that we were riding high.
So........w/that background being established.........I ask you guys in all sincerity, do you really care that much about the morals of the candidates? Or, do you care more how they lead our country?
I suspect all this outrage concerning the morals of the candidates has more to do w/certain posters looking for reasons to bash the opposition rather than true moral outrage.
I think both candidates are morally unsound. I don't like it. However, I am far more concerned w/how their presidency will affect the lives of my family, my friends, and myself.

Perhaps on some level, but with all this immorality to go around it's hard not to be outraged at the lack of character between these two.

Interesting post. I must analyze your suggestions.
analyzing....analyzing....
Ok, I do not want a monster leading our Nation so moral makeup is a big consideration.
Do I care if the President likes to ride an elephant instead of a limo if he is turning our near bankrupt Nation around, creating good jobs and wiping the tears from the eyes of our youth clamoring for safe speech zones?
analyzing....
I am not hiring a babysitter, I am appointing a leader for our Nation. Can he lead? What experience does he have in running things and organizing people? Who will he have around him as his cabinet? Will he appoint good smart people to be around him or will he be paying back favors with those appointments?
What is his goal if he becomes President? To be a good leader or is it a personal agenda he cares most about?
analyzing....

Fishtheice, to address your question in thread 10.....NO. In fact today in PA, we counted two more Trump signs on our road alone. People are independent thinkers here and understand that steel dragon has gone to the gutter in this last attack. But, that's OK.
Words are merely words.
Actions that kill people are criminal.

I'm not surprised a region that endorsed slavery, and segregation, runs Trump out there. Gotta love the south

Oh Trump..... Does anybody know about the Central Park 5 case? These kids were eventually found innocent, cleared by DNA evidence, and even won a $41 million lawsuit. However, Trump still TODAY thinks they're guilty and back in 89 felt they should be put to death. Oh yeah, a guy back in 2002 confessed and his DNA matched the crime scene. http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-ele...ite-dna-n661941Law and order candidate right?
