I think there is plenty of intellectual dialogue scattered throughout these political threads. Eventually it does descend into a bit of anarchy and bias but, if you look there are some decent discussions and questions from either side. The problem, my friend is you easily get angry with somebody who you disagree with and then insult or post a silly meme or ignore them. I mean, what did you call Candy a few posts back? "Fraud" was it?

Name calling does not make for "intellectual conversation".

It's not a private conversation...this is an internet message board forum. Can't others chime in? If not, then perhaps it should be a PM.

I watched the debate on PBS...they broke it down pretty well at the end and seemed as disgusted as I was with respects to the new low it seemed to go. Little in substance and given that it was a town hall forum it didn't seem like the public were involved.

How did CNN, CBS etc. follow it up? Did they feel there was a winner or did they think it was a draw?

It's not a private conversation. I am just just publically letting you know that I do not respect your opinions due to your overwhelming bias. I want to hear from someone who I respect.

Oh, ok. So, just curious but, isn't blocking those who you "don't respect" from a public conversation about "bias" showing...ummm...bias?

It's all good dude. I get it.

I think.

Just ignore it. He's on his holier than thou mood right now.

It's either Hennessy or jack.

It ain't that good. In fact, I think you should concentrate on your lesson plans a bit more and post less on things you know very little about.

For the record Vers I actually respect your football knowledge. I do.

However, I have issues with how hostile, aggressive, dismissive and insulting you can be to not just me but to many on here throughout all threads. That is my only issue with you, dude. I don't know you personally so I cannot say that I don't like you or disrespect you. That's neither here nor there as you exist in my world simply as orange type on a black (brown?) internet forum (and vice versa).

So, I may have argued with you at times but, at the end of the day you push folks a lot and you have to expect that eventually people will push back.

My advice is as it's always been to you:

Start.
The.
Thread.

You'll never know where it goes... if it never gets off the ground.

Good luck with that, Dawg.
You've been here for the same length of time as I have. You already know the lay of the game.

A 'public forum' is the the antithesis of what you want here, my friend-

What You want is a 'Think Tank'... with controls that both sides willingly (and steadfastly) adhere to. You want an "Oxford-style debate."

As a nation, we can't even get that centuries-old format to reign in the 2 people we're contemplating to run the most influential nation on the planet! rofl banghead

So what makes you think that you'll get any higher plane of conversation from a bunch of Browns fans, already in their cups from an afternoon of watching their beloved team go 0-5?

It's the internet, Vers. The one thing I've tried hardest to train myself to do since I first came online in 1996... is to 'separate the signals from noise.'

If a person can't do that- he can't protect himself from getting sucked into an endless succession of 'rabbit holes.'

Start the thread.
Ignore the folks who 'don't make your personal cut."
Interact with those who operate on a level you can relate to.
Let the thread evolve/devolve as it may.

It's all you can do.
It's just like the life you've always lived when you're not interacting with a screen and keyboard.

"Public Threads" are a form of 'Democracy in action,' no matter who says what.

To exercise control over such a thread is tyranny- which is the very antithesis to the basic concepts that formed this nation.

At least you tried.
That's the best (and only) advice I can give you.

_______________

I can only this: start the post- and let the chips fall as they may.

I'll do anything I can to advance the discussion... but you must trust Your Fellow Americans to do the same.

That trust lies at the heart of how we wrote our constitution.

Trust the process.
Trust your brothers/sisters.

Who knows? YOU might find insight from someone you can't stand.

Well... that's how I approach these threads. If I didn't, I'd have been out of here loooooooong ago.

Great. I don't care what you think. You have proven yourself to be a biased person and I don't respect your opinion, just as I don't respect the opinions of certain posters who are are completely polar of you.

I prefer balance and fair play. You guys don't.

Now, what I think isn't important. I'm just telling you this because you messed w/me.

Later man.................I really, really don't want to talk to you anymore.

what are your thoughts on how we can improve the system?

Truth be told, Vers: I'm not sure I have ANY answers that can help.

I don't possess either the intellect or the ego to think that I know better than those who are already running things. The best I can do, is talk with My Dawgs, listen to what they tell me, and come to my own conclusions.

You should start your thread.

Give me a specific situation, and I'll do my best to 'answer the call.'

It's why I post on an internet chat board... instead of running for public office.

Who (TF) am I?
