My advice is as it's always been to you:
Start.
The.
Thread.
You'll never know where it goes... if it never gets off the ground.
But, I am interested in having an intellectual conversation rather than the usual one-sided crap that dominates this forum.
Good luck with that, Dawg.
You've been here for the same length of time as I have. You already know the lay of the game.
A 'public forum' is the the antithesis of what you want here, my friend-
What You want is a 'Think Tank'... with controls that both sides willingly (and steadfastly) adhere to. You want an "Oxford-style debate."
As a nation, we can't even get that centuries-old format to reign in the 2 people we're contemplating to run the most influential nation on the planet!
So what makes you think that you'll get any higher plane of conversation from a bunch of Browns fans, already in their cups from an afternoon of watching their beloved team go 0-5?
_______________
It's the internet, Vers. The one thing I've tried hardest to train myself to do since I first came online in 1996... is to 'separate the signals from noise.'
If a person can't do that- he can't protect himself from getting sucked into an endless succession of 'rabbit holes.'
Start the thread.
Ignore the folks who 'don't make your personal cut."
Interact with those who operate on a level you can relate to.
Let the thread evolve/devolve as it may.
It's all you can do.
It's just like the life you've always lived when you're not interacting with a screen and keyboard.
"Public Threads" are a form of 'Democracy in action,' no matter who says what.
To exercise control over such a thread is tyranny- which is the very antithesis to the basic concepts that formed this nation.
At least you tried.
That's the best (and only) advice I can give you.
_______________
I can only this: start the post- and let the chips fall as they may.
I'll do anything I can to advance the discussion... but you
must trust Your Fellow Americans to do the same.
That trust lies at the heart of how we wrote our constitution.
Trust the process.
Trust your brothers/sisters.
Who knows? YOU might find insight from someone you can't stand.
Well... that's how I approach these threads. If I didn't, I'd have been out of here loooooooong ago.
