Hope you don't mind if I refuse to call you boss. lol
I'm not going to try to jump to the conclusion that Wentz will be the next Peyton Manning, but I will say this.......
It's obvious to anyone watching that he has the tools and ingredients it takes to be a franchise QB. He's not of the ilk of an RG3. I think the comparison being made there is moot.
He has the pocket presence, the ability to read D's post snap, the command of the huddle, the ability to change the call at the LOS. He seems to have all of the ingredients it will take to be a great QB.
While that is no guarantee, he is the complete package. Every rookie will have growing pains, but if you were looking to draft a kid with all of the tools to be a franchise QB, Wentz was a golden opportunity.
And for people claiming he may not have been as successful here? That may be true, but the fact is he would still have all these tools and talent. While we may not be 3-0 with Wentz, we would still have all of his talent on our roster.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
I was gonna say that I was pretty tired of the Browns' FO, whichever regime you want to name, always being "the brightest boy in the room" and never making the obvious move because they know so much more about all this stuff than everybody else - but I guess now I'll have to wait until 2019.

You've posted that before .. And I agree 100% ... I've said the same thing more than once on here ..
He's got the SKILL SET .. A much BETTER PACKAGE than RG3 ..he has an NFL QB'S SKILL SET ... Not many of those around any more ..

NO WAY he's as successful here THIS YEAR ... NO WAY .. No one would be as good with our talent as they would with Phili's ..
BUT your 100% correct in that he would have the same skill set ... And that's WHAT MATTERS ...
Folks that are saying that are just looking to make themselves feel better and not have to admit that based on the LIMITED SAMPLE SIZE we have .. WE APPEAR TO HAVE BLOWN IT!!!!
Oh well .. Nice talking football with U ..
GM and I are also talking football in a PM .. It's much safer that way ... Witch is a shame ..
As u well know .. QB'S ARE SO HARD TO FIND NOW A DAYS ...
Got a TRich jersey, the next season he was traded. Got a Wimbley jersey, the next season he was traded. Got a Leroy Hoard jersey, the next season the whole franchise was traded. Last Sunday I won a Manziel jersey...
That's why I went with a Hall of Famer and the only Brown to ever out score #32 in the same season. If my memory serves me right.

And folks that hear "we appear to have blown it" and think we haven't just because the lack of talent we have here and the limited sample size we have on Wentz, are still in denial.
We appear to have blown it again.

Just got back from a fishing trip in B.C. Canada. Getting caught up.
Interesting thread. Have not read all the posts. Just kind of cruised it.
First off props to Vers for owning up. In regards to Wentz so far this season. He is showing that what he was doing at North Dakota State was displaying his ability.
I think that sometimes it is easy to fall into traps when evaluating college quarterbacks as they enter the draft process. In the end analysis mostly what you see is what you get regardless of the many factors that come into play.
Wentz is doing what he did in college. And so is Bridgewater for that matter (sad about his injury).
Yes, Wentz went to a small school in a lightly regarded conference. It still comes down to: Can you play? And how did you play?
Wentz came into it with the physical characteristics you look for. Then you look at the offense "he ran". What were his responsibilities? Wentz ran the show in a pro set offense. What you see now in the pros he did in college.
The amazing part is how quickly he learned a new system and language. And then how he adapted to the speed of the NFL. When investigating his leadership qualities in college it was all over the N.D. State college website.
What he is doing is not a surprise. Goff is not a surprise either. He has a lot to learn about running a pro set offense. He may very well learn it but it will take time. Of the two there was no doubt in my mind that Wentz was the more mature guy.
As for the Browns not drafting him. Although I disagreed adamantly I understood the why. They really needed to refresh the roster. They needed draft picks badly they had so many holes to fill and still do.
Quite honestly some of the picks they have made are playing pretty darn well. But missing Wentz will hurt.
So far in looking at this next draft's prospects nobody has jumped out at me but I have not looked very deeply at all. The one guy that has caught my eye a little is Chad Kelly. I will be looking hard as time moves ahead. Hopefully our future guy is there somewhere.
Cody Kessler is much like the guy I saw in college. He is smart and the game does not seem to big for him. However, at the same time his physical limitations are there. Some guys have overcome limitations. We will find out about Cody as the weeks go by.
I did watch the last two games after recording them. Truthfully I am encouraged by what I have seen regardless of the record.
This is way too early, but this looks very familiar.
Brady Gustafson Montana 6-foot-7, 235 pounds
He doesn't seem quite as accurate from the little of him that I've seen, and he needs to work on looking off the safeties more, but there seems to be a ton of potential in this kid.
Crunch time against the Lions, with plenty of time on the clock, 1st and 10 - and he launches it deep into double coverage for an INT.
Granted he's been playing great, but that's a big mistake. I don't know how many timeouts the Lion's had, but had he even connected - they would've had PLENTY of time to work with.
QBs have bad plays. QBs have bad games. I know that the masses on here have been praying he would have a bad game so they could rip him......you know, the same guys who say it's too early to comment on his good play thus far. LOL
But man, you got on him for ONE freaking play. Seriously? But, let me guess............you are really excited about what Kessler is doing?

being right about Wentz is meaningless to me as he is not a Brown. I just hope it doesnt bite us in the ass. What I am totally pleased about is how well Kessler is playing. That is the key...Kessler + the picks shame our record sucks but our kids are playing well the future is bright later.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!
