Just got my first smartphone in May.
I had an iPod (gift from a student), so I already knew how to hit the ground running, even though my new phone I Android.
Player FM: a Podcast aggregator. I have about 20 info/edu/news podcasts that are in heavy rotation.
Pitch Tuner (for my job). Metronome (for my job). Recording/mixing suite of apps (for my job). Google Maps (part of the 'bloatware' that came with the phone). I use it for the job when I freelance). Slacker Radio: a music streaming service. Clean, few ads (I'm using the free version/ the paid version is ad-free). Google Newsstand U-Verse TV app (I can control the TV from my phone, and watch shows when I'm on the road- GREAT when stuck in an airline terminal, with 2 hrs til boarding...) fb/mssgr
No games. None. (I haven't found one that interests me... and I'm too OCD to be able to control myself...)
Yeah... I know- I'm boring.

don't have a smart phone, but my family members do .. I enjoy the radio app, the classic word app, and the maps stuff
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

i have an iPhone 6s.
my main app is Spotify. god i love it, more than apple music. i'm always finding new tracks to bump all over the world, and it has an offline mode so i don't have to be connected to the internet to listen to my playlist.
i have a few video production apps as well, that sync up with Final Cut Pro on my macbook, so if i'm at school but i want to work on a project, i can still do it on my iphone or the ipad.
then i have a few music production apps that synce up with Logic Pro X that does the same thing.
other than that, i guess the standard apps like FB, IG, twitter.

LOL I use my smartphone to make a few calls and text's and maybe look up something online two or three times a month, or check out the weather forecast. I don't use it if I am at home, and I leave it at home if my wife is with me and we go somewhere.

I have 3 people on my account, myself, my wife and her mother. Together we rack up the amazing data usage of a gygabyte per month. Now I did use it on my recent trip for the navigation feature. That came in handy. I started with the Google maps but quickly changed to Apple maps as it was more accurate. Since my wife and I have navigation in our cars there is no need for this app at home.

I have a few. The Browns app, Vivino is a cool one. You snap a pic of a wine label and you get average price, ratings on the wine, etc. I have never scanned a lable it couldn't find. You find out if you are getting a deal or not. The national weather service radar maps. It is pretty handy when traveling to Cleveland or Florida, to see if you are heading in or out of bad conditions. Inrix is a app showing road conditions....it works pretty well....and Maps....good as a GPS if needed.
My wife and I split 3G. It is enough for us, but I can't use it to stream music for hours and hours. It usually works out she uses about 60% of the service and I use maybe 20%-25%. Verison doesn't allow carry over. I don't like Verison, but our house is on the lake, surrounded by hills, it's the only carrier I have found that gives a solid signal. All the others you have to go to a corner of the house and hold your head at a 45 degree angle to maybe get a signal where you can hear every other word of what is being said.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

I don't have a smart phone, but my flip phone has Tetris on it, which is not really much fun. It has a handy alarm clock if I ever need a wake-up while away from home. I used it once to call AAA when my car broke down. I use it to text my wife if I'm going to be late. It has all my family's phone numbers on it so I can see whose call it is that I'm not picking up if they call me. Sometimes I use it to get out of a conversation with someone I don't want to talk to. I just say "I gotta take this.", flip it open, say hello, and walk away with the phone up to my ear.

I don't have a smart phone, but my flip phone has Tetris on it, which is not really much fun. I don't have a smartphone for the time being and I have a tetris demo on my phone. It offers a chance to buy the full version, but it won't access the site, because the site is dead. I also have the demo versions for Need for Speed and Resident Evil... Not much fun at all. I'll post an update in the thread when I get the Google Pixel later this week

What kind of apps or games do you have on your phone? Calengoo - an easy to use calendar app that syncs with my gmail account. MyRadar - the best real time weather radar app I could find Skymap - gives a current time map of the sky at your gps coordinates and identifies the planets and constellations overhead. Scanner Radio Pro - local police and emergency scanner Ibird Pro - a bird identification app. Ebird - an app to record and upload bird sightings Quite a few news and sports news sites.

I have my son's old iphone 4. He had it for 3-4 years. Then it was my wife's phone for.....? 2-4 years??? Then it was my phone. Is my phone.
Apps other than what came on it? Hill Climb - my nephews put that on. And Gas Buddy. Wife put that on.
I make calls, I receive calls. I text, I get texts. It's a phone, not my life.
I just absolutely hate when we're out and about and I look at all the people staring at their phones.

I have an Iphone 6S Plus. It's a solid phone. Feels a little too big for about a week, then you get used to it.
Aside from the obvious social media apps that most people either have, or have no interest in, here's what I have on mine..
SoundHound - free app that listens to a song playing in the room and will identify it. There are a few out there, but this one has always been my go-to. Also keeps record of the stuff you check out so you can go back and find that song you heard at the bar or wherever. Quite useful.
Tune-in radio - I believe this app is free now, but I've had it so long I think it was a buck when I downloaded it. Can stream radio from all over the world. Great for long drives if you have a good signal and a good data plan.
Police scanner + - this app is pretty good and pretty self explanatory
The Speedway app is helpful if you are a regular, keeps track of your points and freebie coupons. Also lists gas prices of nearby stations
Evernote - great app for keeping lists, files, and other types of data that can be opened across a few devices. They have limited it to just a couple devices for customers using the free version. Still great to have. Good place to store shopping lists, important receipts, and anything else that you may need to get to immediately.
Uber - For those that don't know, it's a way to get rides from here and there. Awesome for quick rides. Works better in bigger cities obviously. Used it all last weekend in Nashville to get around.
Keyring - Great app that can keep barcodes of all your favorite rewards type card (Speedway, Panera, etc)
Venmo - Great alternative to Paypal. Also free. No service charges for use either.
GoSkyWatch - Really cool app. Point it to the sky to see what stars you are looking at. Will run you at 3 or 4 bucks, but on a good clear night it's fun to mess around with.
As far as games go..
Pay games: Flight Control, Monopoly, You Must Build a Boat, Fare City, Doodle God, Peggle
Free games: Plants Vs Zombies 2, Temple Run 1 and 2, Mr. Aah, Doors and Rooms, Aw Craps!, Junge Style Pinball, QuizUp

A lot of people don't know, because they don't really make it known, but you can stream the radio broadcast of Browns games live on the app. I actually sync up my phone with my sound bar, and mute the tv. I pause the game and match it up with the broadcast. I can't stand these announcers that don't know anything about our team. Jimmy Donovan and Diek call a great game, and they have Nathan Zegura updating from the sideline quicker than the national guys. I've gotten pretty good at matching up the tv, the best way to know for sure is when the ref is making his penalty call, hahaa.

I run TheScore app for sports. It's great and free. I get alerts for Cleveland games (start and end alerts, all scoring, scores by quarters, turnovers, red zone, general news, and injuries). You can also follow individual players. For example, I've been getting end-of-game stats for Delly because I just want to see how he's doing. I'd highly suggest the app. Other than that, I've got the normal Facebook, eBay, Kayak, etc. I don't game on my phone at all, it's probably been 4 years since I had a game installed. I almost never use my one as a phone. I think I went over 100 minutes in a month once last year. I communicate mostly through texts, Microsoft Skype Professional (work) or Facebook. Also, I could have predicted that we'd have quite a few guys "bragging" they don't have phones in a thread simply asking what's on their phones.

I started this thread to see what other games or puzzlers you guys might have that I could try out, I have Tetris, and WordBubbles (and Clem says he's boring).
I do have Facebook and all the standard stuff that comes with the phone like maps.
Question about the Browns app, does the stream get interrupted whilst listening to games or is it pretty solid.
I've been listening from the Browns site when I have to work and it can be rather sketchy, and that can get frustrating when it looks like something good might happen.

Note to self: When conducting an investigation and you ask the victim if they have any text messages they can show you to help prove their case... don't stand and look over their shoulder. Not only will you see the evidence, you'll also see the up close and personal, X-rated pics sent to them from their gentleman callers... ewww...

It's good, obviously will run better on a wifi network. Every once in a while it will stop, but you can just easily just tap the button on the app to play again. I never watch games any other way. I wish I could somehow do this with Hammy for the WS next week.

With my cell phone I can call anyone in the United States and talk to them in real time. They also can call me. (But never do)
Even telemarketers hang-up on me. The Suicide Prevention hotline has a restraining order against me. Last time I talked to them, they told me I was a wuss and a chicken. Credit card companies don’t want me to sign up with them. They don’t even send the cops anymore to arrest me for misuse of the 911 emergency number.
