Browns 8th in pass def. 13th in run def. 26th in pass off. (not so fun fact) 5th in rush off. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?a...e&Submit=GoI know we are 0-5 but we could and should be 3-2 imo. we are playing a lot better than I thought we would, with all the injuries. I believe we have been well coached and prepared for our games thus far.

Those are not fun facts. Those are stats.
There is no world in which we should be 3-2. The only game we "should have" won was the Dolphin game.

The Ravens came back and beat us fair and square. Just because you are ahead in a game does not mean you should win. Turnovers killed us in the Washington game. That is on our team as well.

when we were as far ahead as we were against the ravens...that is a game we "should" have won imo... and the phantom fumble didn't help either, didn't cost us the game but didn't help either. I thought we should have won that game as well.

we have the most dead money. we have the most losses. our owner used to be one of the owners of the steelers. trading down has got us who? mack?
hoyer in last stretch had been a better qb than arron rogers.
sheard has more sacks than anyone on the browns.
i do think we will turn the corner....waiting....
I`m good with Baker... Playoffs is good enough for me.

lol ok those aren't fun facts. Those are sad facts.
Hoyer, yea I liked him. He pushed the ball downfield. He only made me mad when J. Gordon came back. Because he was stuck on throwing to Gordon (meathead to one). and they were not connecting. Over and over to Gordon was his down fall that year.
Outside of that I though Hoyer was darn good.

we've said for years we need to run the ball and stop the run better ... we're finally kinda doing both, and we're 0-5
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

i think what cfrs15 is saying is that if we "should've" been 3-2, then thats the record we would have.
at the end of the day, we are not. the better comment would've been that we had the chance to be 3-2.
our team is young, we have to learn how to finish the game in the 4th quarter. but in the 4th quarter, thats where experience and talent come into play.
we know we're lacking in experience. Talent....that's debatable as of now. but our talent certainly isn't developed like other teams just yet.
so we deserve to be 0-5. but the potential is there.

Swish I agree with your post. I'd also like to add that the injuries don't help and the questionable calls against us have been a problem. Taking care of the ball would help too.

I was just bragging to a group of Steeler & Pats fans the other day about how much potential the Browns have.

Cal we do have the potential. It just has to be developed and I believe we have the right coach in place to do it. The only other coach we have had since we came back that I feel was making progress with our players was Mangini. I'm not saying we would develop all the way into a winner but there was at least some progress being made.

the one area that has been abysmal IMO is the pass rush. It's non existent

I'm not saying we would develop all the way into a winner but there was at least some progress being made. I like the coach. I like a couple of our players. I like some of the things I've seen so far this year. I don't know that all adds up to potential, unless you use the broadest definition, meaning we all have the potential to be great. Potential achievement and actual achievement aren't the same thing in my book. Will they succeed in becoming a Super Bowl contender? Not any time soon. Do they have the potential? Sure, why not? My biggest fear right now is the FO's inexperience and potential inability to recognize talent, or their penchant to pick character players with potential over football players with exceptional skill sets. That could potentially be a problem. JMHO

Cody Kessler. games played 2.25, yds 529, TD's 2, rating 87.9, comp% 66.7
Carson Wentz. games played 4, yds 1,007, TD's 7, rating 103.5, comp% 66.9
I'm thinking we got our money's worth for Kessler. He was on pace to hit over 1,000 yds through 4 games as well until he got hurt.

Fun fact? Browns are 0 and 6. YES! #1 pick here we come! I wish we played the Niners this year .. there a DUMPSTER FIRE right now .. Same with the Jets .. DUMPSTER FIRE ... we do play them ... just not sure there worse than us .. Point is .. if we win even 1 game it might take us out of the #1 pick .. Amazingly enough there's one team because of there HC that is Wrose than us ... the niners .. and another one due to HORRIBLE COACHING and injuries is playing worse than us .. I would make the jets game a pick um or maybe even make us favorites cause we have a young, hungry team where as the Jets are a bunch of spoiled vets in decline and there not buying in like the young, hungry kids looking for.a career ...

I think the Bears might be another team that could challenge for the top pick.
But yeah, San Fran is horrible.

But yeah, San Fran is horrible. I don't see a QB worthy of a #1 overall either. If the draft were tomorrow, I'd go Myles Garret or trade down ATM. There are some interesting choices later. Mitch Trubisky (from my home town) Brady Gustafson Chad Kelly I haven't got into this too much yet, but Kizer and Watson don't impress me and Kaaya needs to show more.

Agreed. People doubted Newton, Ryan, Bradford, Wentz, etc. but you eventually have to do your homework and get the guy you want to build the O around. My problem with Kizer is the confidence. Every other flaw he has can be improved upon with time and reps....but Kelly treating this kid like dirt and killing his confidence is a problem. Watson just isn't very accurate, and Kaaya struggles with reading defenses imo.
I really like Browning of Washington, but I don't know if he is eligible. The North Carolina QB (won't even attempt to spell it) is a guy worth keeping an eye on. An NFL scout guru was saying he was the best QB he ever saw in person including Wentz, Dak, Watson, etc. So he might shoot up draft boards before it's over.
Regardless, one of these guys will be the Browns pick next year almost guaranteed.

My biggest fear at this point is that we are going to take some kid high in the first round, start him immediately, and when we aren't 5-1 to start next year and he doesn't have 7 TDs to 1 INT people are going to start complaining and booing.. Because that precedent has been set.

Just because someone is the best QB in the draft doesn't make him a legit NFL QB prospect. That's not to say one of the college QBs in this class isn't. I'm just leery based on what I've seen thus far.

Here is a list of QBs taken 1/1 since 1999: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/pl...rder_by=defaultLooking at the list, I would say that most were shoe-ins to be the #1 pick during the season (Vick, Carr, Palmer, Eli, Stafford, Bradford, Luck, and Winston). Usually there is a clear number one guy all season long. There is not one this year.

I agree w/this take more than the one DC proposed. If the Browns draft a qb w/the first overall pick, they are going to give him every opportunity in the world to succeed.
Hell, they gave chumps like Weeden a significant amount of time to succeed and he was drafted closer to the end of round 1 than the top of it.
The problem is that you then ignore the position for three years because you are giving your 1-1 QB a "fair shot." What if the guy is a dud?
It's a tough call. I mean............I really want to like one of this year's QBs, but they all seem so ..........blah..........!
