Maybe Daman because Davis is smart and coachable..he 's tough but he'll never be that force thats needed in the middle..but the intangibles is what he is lacking..like I said he fills a need..he's not a problem.. He's inconsistant..the coaches don't have a better backer to replace him with..again it's a stability thing..after next season that may change..U may see several inside backers brought in..

The SILB in the 3-4 is exactly what Davis is, and should be. The SILB needs to be disciplined, stay at home guy, and force on the inside. Davis is similar to Earl Holmes and Ted Johnson in the fact that he bangs around with the C/G's, cleans up the inside run, and plays short zone. He's never going to be a flashy, sideline to sideline guy. I know everyone wants that Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher all encompassing beast at MLB/ILB anymore, but those guys are rare. Davis plays a more difficult position than people are giving him credit for, and cleans up.

Davis is a solid player some have been wanting to dump for a few years.
Maybe they need to start looking at some other players because Davis isn't going anywhere for a while.

As for Quinn, here's what the Browns aren't saying: They fear a holdout.
Barring injury, Frye will be the starter for the first 6 weeks. Quinn knows that. If he has to sit a week or so to get the Browns to pony up another $5 mil guaranteed, he'll do it. And it won't be a big deal.
The best we can hope for is for Charlie to have a great season behind our new line and to be able to trade him for a 2nd-rounder in the offseason. Quinn holding out would help give that opportunity.

5th or 6th, we traded Dilfer for a 7th and Ken Dorsey for crying out loud.

I think Anderson will beat out any game Frye has to offer.

well 4th was a pipe dream and that is thinking that he has a HUGE year.... which with a new offensive coordinator will never happen.

If the Eagles got a 2nd round pick for A.J. Feeley.....you never know what we could get if Frye has a good year. If I had it my way, we keep Charlie Frye long term as a backup.

Some team is going to sustain a camp injury and savage is going to be reminding people we have two fairly decent QBs we would be willing to deal.
No way we will be able to keep both Frye and Anderson as back-ups on this team....one of them will have to go.

What was Feeley's QB rating/record? I know a lot can be blamed on the line... but Frye was the worst starter in the league last year...
I'd love for him to do well... but I just don't see us getting a ton for him... just trying to be realistic.

To be fair to #9 (which I'm not very often), Aaron Brooks was the worst starting QB in the league last year.
Didn't help that his scheme and O-line made us look like the Colts, either.

This is the silliest thing I have seen in a while. Frye's trade value will be determined after the season.

Heck and I thought that this was a thread about a new porn video by Pam Anderson!!!
This doesn't matter. I saw him against Tampa and I can read a field better than he can. Absolutely awful. Let's not forget that what seperates a good from a bad qb is not one or two games but in how a qb plays after teams have several games of film on a guy. And once Tampa had that, they made him look like a 7th round pick...oh wait.
Let's hope that they all progress very well. We know who is our future qb, the only side effect of this issue is how high of a pick we gave the Cowboys. So, I don't care if you are from Anderson's hometown, dated Brady's sister before AJ stole her or fried fries that the local McD's for Charlie Frye, we should all be in unision that ONLY getting the best play possible benefits this team in the long run, regardless of who it is since Frye nor Anderson are our future.

No way?? One of them "has" to go??
Why?
Frye/Quinn/Anderson could be the best QB situation we've ever seen a Browns team be in, why would you change that?

It will work better if Frye remains as the starter...but I don't think he will.
I just have this thing about starters who lose their position. I don't think they can become a back-up for the team they once started for...I just don't think it works out well. I think you have to trade them to another team before they finally settle into the back-up mentality....it is like they need to hear it from 2-3 teams before they believe back-up is the best they are going to attain.
I think Dorsey has figured that out since being shipped here..I don't think Chuck or Anderson will be long term back-ups in Cleveland, but they might somewhere else.

Attack, who knows,, in the end, you may have pegged him correctly when you say he lacks intangibles....
Maybe the reason he's here is because nobody has been able to beat him out for the job so far.. I suppose it could be as simple as that. But couldn't that exact same thing be said for every guy on this team?
So, I'm going back to this, if RAC and Savage don't think it's broken, then don't fix it!
They run the team, thier careers hinge on the level of talent they put on the field and how they prepare them... I'm pretty confident that if they thought they needed a replacement, they would have worked on it.

Well where does Dorsey fit in? Dorsey's the cerebral 3rd QB who knows the offense best and can teach it to the others via hands-on experience.
We're NOT keeping 4 QB's. Unless one of them can play receiver or DB, LOL.
Someone will be traded or released, most likely traded since QB's will come at a premium soon.
Still, I'd expect nothing more than a 5th or 6th.

Yeah, and he'll still be a 5th or 6th round value. LOL.
And I still wouldn't be surprised if we worked out a trade for #9 or Anderson before the season begins...especially if Ron Mexico is suspended in Atlanta. We're not keeping 4 QB's, and I doubt Dorsey is going to be the odd man out since he understands the offense the best.

It's really not hard to see Daman..since Davis was drafted the Browns haven't taken a MLB either from FA or the draft to challenge him...he wasn't a liability in their eyes..and being a low round pick who started and was cheap and a upgrade over RAINER they won out. But that doesn't cover his deficiencies.. He lacks range and doesn't have good body control..but it's his instincts that bother me..

Dorsey is going to have an "injury" and start the season on the PUP list.
That way, we keep him around and he makes much bigger $$$ than he would as an asst QB coach...which is what he really is anyway. BTW, I've always liked the guy...he's just not good enough to keep with this group and gives us the option to trade someone if the price is right.
He's on his way to becoming a coach and the PUP list gives him one last payday.

After removing the worst offensive coordinator in the NFL, Frye became a middle of the pack QB.

After you were pimping taking Troy Smith with the THIRD PICK OF THE DRAFT, do you really think anyone takes your evaluation of a QBs value seriously?

lincoln Anderson reminds Browns he's in mix at QB Wednesday, June 20, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot Plain Dealer Reporter Derek Anderson, after hearing for the hundredth time that Charlie Frye has a leg up in the quarterback competition, reminded Browns coach Romeo Crennel that he, too, has a leg. Two of them, in fact. "I run a long ways, like 33 yards," joked Anderson, who's not known for his Michael Vick-like wheels but still ripped off a 33-yard run against Kansas City in over time last sea son to set up the game-win ning field goal. While most folks assume that it's a two-horse race between Frye and No. 1 pick Brady Quinn, dark horse Anderson still is a good bet. "I'd say my chances of starting are good," Anderson said. "That's just my sense. I think they're going to give us an equal opportunity. Whoever performs well and moves the team the best is going to be that guy." Crennel acknowledged that Anderson has the best arm among the three, but it takes more than that to get the job done. "Along with that, you have to be able to run the offense," Crennel said. "He's getting an equal number of reps as the rest of those guys. He's in the competition and we'll see how it plays out." During minicamp and organized team activities, Frye and Anderson split the first-team reps, with Quinn and Ken Dorsey backing them up. Anderson said nothing should be read into the fact that he was the first man up in the two-minute drill on the last day of minicamp. "No, we've been rotating back and forth pretty much every day and getting reps and mixing guys in and out," Anderson said. "When I get in there, I just try to make the most of my opportunities." Of course, none of the quarterbacks managed a touchdown or even a field goal in their first crack at the two-minute drill, and the entire offense was forced to run gassers as a result. Anderson and Frye fared better the second time, each producing field goals. They're all struggling," Crennel said of the quarterbacks. "We've got a lot of offense in and we haven't really honed in on it well enough yet." Anderson said he feels comfortable in offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski's new system because it focuses on two of his strengths, timing throws and down-the-field throws. "With my limited mobility, throwing on time is obviously part of my thing," Anderson said. "Making those timing throws and getting the ball out on time helps the whole system, the whole line, the running game - it helps everything. I think I do a pretty good job of that most of the time and I'll keep working on that, too." But Anderson insists he's not merely Lurch lumbering around in the pocket. "I can move a little bit," he said. "I've got a guy back home [in Oregon] that I work on some agility stuff with and our strength coaches do a pretty good job of that, too. I'll stay on top of that and keep the feet moving." Anderson gained favor with some of the Browns coaches last season when he came off the bench to rally the team from a 14-point deficit and beat Kansas City in overtime. The following week, he made his first NFL start in Pittsburgh and showed tremendous poise and ability to sidestep the rush - but was victimized by dropped passes. The next week, he was sacked five times in Baltimore, but still managed to complete 13 straight passes in the loss and spread the ball to eight receivers. But a week later against Tampa Bay when he completed 10 passes and was intercepted four times for a 12.3 rating before leaving with a separated shoulder. But by then, he had intrigued Crennel enough to force a legitimate competition for the job. Still, Anderson knew the Browns were probably going to either draft a quarterback or sign one in free agency. "When Brady Quinn started to drop on draft day, I kind of expected something might happen," Anderson said. "It's just the way this league is. They're always looking for something better. I didn't really get down. I was talking to my wife and said 'I'm just going to go do it and whatever happens, happens.' I've just got to know when it's all over that I gave it all I had." For now, the mystery of the front-runner is as big to the quarterbacks as it is to everyone else. "We just come in and put our work in and we'll let the chips fall where they may during training camp," Anderson said. "Eventually they'll have to make a decision."
