"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

First pitch hopes:

Game 1 - Jim Brown
Game 2 - LeBron James
Game 6 - Indians 90s Legends (Thome, Vizquel, Alomar, Nagy, Lofton, etc)
Game 7 - Wild Thing

Not bad

I would move JB to Game 2 and LeBron to game 7. though this might need to be switched based on the NBA schedule

Game 1 I would go with the suggestion someone made earlier - the last living member of the 1948 World Series Champion Cleveland Indians.

Rust is a concern, but we hit .189 in the ALCS, you can't get much worse than that.

Is it just me, or is that article lacking an explanation for why it won't be Charlie Sheen? It said the Indians officially "bluntly said it won't be sheen", but why? If MLB is in charge of that, why wouldn't they do it?

To me sheen is a no brainer, and Lebron wouldn't even get as big of a reaction. Just my opinion

Ok, just read another article. To me it sounds like MLB wasn't "baseball greats" to throw out the first pitches. What a wasted opportunity by MLB, no wonder they are losing fans, they are completely out of touch.

Okay, it may be just me, but I doubt MLB is losing fans because of who throws out first pitches.

Personally, I don't really care about who throws out the first pitch. I care more about who throws out the last pitch and that we're still winning after it.

Last I heard, Sheen isn't the same guy you remember from the movie. He got fired from a popular sitcom for saying offensive things about the shows creator and the network and being a drug and booze addicted crazy jackass. Why would MLB be out of touch for not wanting that around their showcase event?

In your opinion, you think Lebron wouldn't be able to get as big of a reaction as Sheen? Really? The guy that was born here that just returned home and delivered a championship for this town where 1.something million people showed up to celebrate wouldn't get as big of a reaction as some washed up actor from a movie from 1989? Okay dude.

Aside from the fact that Lebron is busy the same night, he would be the #1 logical choice to throw out the first pitch. I do like the last remaining player from '48 as well. Ultimately, I don't give a rats butt who is throwing the first pitch or even if we have someone throwing a first pitch. Just win the series man.

Word on the street is that MLB would let Sheen throw out the first pitch, but he has a scheduled start for the California Penal League on the same day.

Charlie Sheen fell from grace a while back. He's a party-boy drug addict and also has been accused of infecting some of his sexual partners with HIV and not telling them of his HIV positive status.

So the NBA has moved the start time of the Cavs/Knicks game up to 7:30, the ring ceremony starts at 7:00, the baseball game starts at 8:10... hopefully (since the NFL isn't involved) they will air the ring ceremony live on the screen at Progressive so all of the folks going to the baseball game can watch it. That would be really cool.

The success of the Cavs/Indians make me not care about watching the Browns. I seriously could not be more apathetic about the nfl this year
I am getting tired of being publically mocked every time I wear a Browns jersey.

I hate to admit it, but you're right. It makes the Browns sucking more easy to deal with. Ohio State is doing really well too.

I think it would be a good way to get in touch with a younger fan base, maybe it's more of a "hip" move. I've spoken in person with a couple dozen Indians fans, every one of them said to me "yes wild thing"!! To us it was never about Charlie sheen, only Vaughn.

Oh well, we would have loved to see it, because we will all be watching that in the movie over the coming days.

LOL............who throws out the first pitch is certainly getting a lot of run.

And I don't know how "young" the fan base is who can identify with Sheen/Wild Thing/Major League.

You must be an old fart, like me.

Francona hints that Salazar could start in the Series ...

http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf...art_river_index

They might also be thinking of a combination-start using Salazar and Merritt, which could be a slump-starter for the oppos's, given the two pitchers' opposite styles and degree of octane on their fastballs and secondary pitches. Six or seven innings of "Sala-Merritt", get a couple runs, and its Miller time.

I understand the frustration, but wasn't one of the 'Five Reasons You Can't Blame A** ****ll' (the asterisks refer to the missing letters in a previous Browns owners name refs, don't want another time out for 'masked profanity') on ESPN the fact that the Tribe was doing well and fans weren't attending Browns games, thereby costing the Browns money?

I hate the results on the field as much as any of you, but I'd rather stick with it than lose the team again.

I just want to mention, I'm rooting for the Dodgers.

Not because I like the Dodgers - I hate the Dodgers.

And not because I hate the Cubs - I like the Cubs.

I want to watch the World Series and scream my guts out with unbridled hatred for the opposition on every pitch.

Like the Red Sox and Toronto series. That was fun.

After this weekend, we (I) can stop complaining about the cable broadcasts. I'm kind of annoyed that I have seen zero NL postseason games, because I don't get Fox Sports 1. The LCS's and WS are supposed to be MLB's showcase; they should be on network TV. One of the funnier complaints I read was a tweet by Tony Grossi saying "Where's the World Series, Tru-TV?". I can't believe the MLB postseason wouldn't get better numbers than NCIS-Wichita or the district quarter-finals of The Voice.

TBS broadcasts were laughably bad .. just horrendous.

FOX1 is available here, but it's strange that the NLCS would be on that and not on FOX itself.

I think FOX has been leaking financially with FOX1, so maybe they think giving them games would jump start the network
