Am I the only one annoyed by one poster replying to another using the "Quick Reply" option, which always looks like a reply to the OP?
For me it breaks the chain of communication in the thread and I'm anal enough to have to trace back to sort out who the quick reply is actually responding to.
How hard is it to click "Reply" on the post it's intended for?
It's like shoving a stick into the spokes of my bicycle as I'm riding along.

It's really not hard at all. I use it almost every time and never have any issues.

I rarely even look to see who people are replying to..
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I rarely even look to see who people are replying to.. I always look to see who people are replying to. It's the only way to follow the conversation.

I think it causes some anger... someone uses it and it goes to the OP and he/she thinks it's toward them and it makes them want to kick butt... it's the lack of paying attention to detail... just like this ..your posts suck and you don't know anything about football... hey..whybyou always replying like that... What ? I'm going to kick your butt..don't talk to me like that.. just like I want to kick your butt...but whose butt do I want to kick ? because I replied to this crazy guy who I just dig... Did I reply to the OP or Vers, That guy, Lamp, cfrs or the OP.... Hint I dig my homie who I've known for a very long time.. Oh crap...that's all of you

It's a nice option if you just remember what you're doing. On game day all the replies seem to go to the original poster anyway and it's faster to get your thought out. In normal threads it's just as easy to hit the reply link to reply to a specific person and use the quick reply if you're just making a general thought to no one in particular.

I had suggested that Quick Reply say: "replying to Quick Reply" instead of a poster's name. PPE said he liked the idea, but he evidently hasn;t had time, or forgot.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

If you just type in the box at the bottom and hit Submit, it shows as a reply to the OP.
If you click the Quick Reply link on a post that you want to reply to, it will then move you to the box at the bottom, but that reply will then show as being a reply to the post you clicked on. It functions exactly the same as the Full Reply option without having to go to a different page to do it. If you don't need all the extra options on the Full Reply page, it is a quick, easy, and effective way to reply.

Easiest way to stop the crying is to remove the quick reply box at the bottom of the page altogether.

I don't understand why this is so difficult to understand. My favorite part is when I want to reply to multiple people, and I hit "quick quote" on each post and it puts them all in the box nice and ready to go..

I don't think lack of understanding is the issue.

Can the Quick Reply box be hidden until someone chooses to use it?
Say it's not there, then I click "QUICK REPLY" on someone's post, and it makes it show up?
Also you could have a button on the bottom of the page, like the "preview reply" one, that makes it show up, and then replys to the OP?
Just an idea.

If it wasn't open and already available there would be nothing quick about it.

True, but how much time are you actually wasting by just hitting the reply button? I don't think the milliseconds saved is worth the headache.
Another question.....How many time does someone respnd to the OP of a thread or with a "jc" post? Does it really warrant it's own separate feature? After the first few posts, I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority are responses to someone in the thread that's not the OP.
