I also think its pretty amazing the confidence some of you all have in Hogan to convert a 4th down at midfield... But then want to say Hue has horrible game managing skills. #chill

Jackson's creativity to keep the offense going is crazy good.
Did anyone else think the hit that put Kessler out was a cheap shot?
We basically need an all new secondary and a bunch of front seven players. The only keepers that I have seen so far are Shelton, Ogbah, and Nassib.
The kicker has been good ever since the first game.
Anyone miss Andy Lee?
Kessler is better than I ever thought he would be. I don't know if he can be good, but I like watching play.
I like Kessler a whole lot more than I thought I would, but I agree with an article that Terry Pluto wrote., in that we maay never see how good he could be because he has a hero syndrome, and allows himself to take too many game ending shots, and eventually he's not going to get up and be able to continue anymore. To quote Sun Tzu: He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight. Kessler has to learn when to throw the ball away and not take the "kill shot", like he has been doing. McCown is good for the same thing. He will hang in the pocket bast the breaking point, and be damaged for a month, instead of just throwing the ball away and living to fight another day. I guess I'm seeing it a tad different. To me it looked like Kessler has been getting better about throwing the ball away. The play he went on, I don't think he was hurt by the guy who tackled him, it was another defender clipping him in the head. I may be parsing things a bit, but that to me is more of a freak type of thing versus standing still at the end of a 7 step drop and 300lbs bearing down on you. But I suppose one could still make the argument that on that very play he completely forgot that "discretion is the better part of valor". But hey, another week or 2 and we'll be working our way back UP the QB ladder lol

i was watching games around the league.
the difference between kessler and other QB's is that he can't withstand the punishment. O line's around the nfl are either bad, or out talented by the crazy talent of these D lines.
I mean matt ryan was getting crushed as well. but he got back up like nothing.
our QB's are straight up soft when it comes to hits.

our QB's are straight up soft when it comes to hits. How do you get soft from guys having broken bones and concussions? There is a difference between Beasley hitting you off the edge and getting smacked in the face from right up the middle over and over again. Get hit enough and one is bound to be at a bad angle or in a bad spot.

our QB's are straight up soft when it comes to hits. Wholeheartedly, I disagree. Outside of RG3.. McCown and Kessler both seem to take their fair share of hard hits and get back up. Hogan bounced back up as well. Long story short.. Not all hits are equal.

Kessler really can't push the ball down the field ... we are playing in a phone booth with him, and the defenses know it. He has to be perfect accuracy wise (and catch wise) to get 1st downs
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

j/c: CLE-CIN GRADES: BENGALS WR A.J. GREEN CONTINUES IMPRESSIVE SEASON Quarterback grade: Kevin Hogan 80.2 (55.8 passing, 95.8 running) While Cody Kessler (68.0 overall grade) got the start again, it was Kevin Hogan who was the story in the game for the Browns at quarterback—first as a surprising choice as the Browns’ change-of-pace QB, and then taking over for an injured Kessler. The Bengals clearly were not prepared for Hogan’s threat as a runner, and even as the game wore on, did not adjust to Hogan’s willingness to keep the ball on read options. Hogan led the Browns in rushing with 104 yards on seven attempts, 35 of those coming on designed runs and four gains of 10 or more yards on designed runs. All this talk of Hogan’s running, however, makes the point in its own way about his passing, which was inconsistent at best, Hogan completed just 50 percent of his passes and couldn’t get the short-passing game going, averaging just 3.2 yards per attempt on short passes (9 or fewer yards in the air). Top offensive grades G/C John Greco, 85.8 RT Austin Pasztor, 83.2 LT Joe Thomas, 78.2 C Cameron Erving, 75.5 TE Gary Barnidge, 74.0 Offensive line makes its mark on Bengals’ run defense The Bengals’ run defense isn’t used to being shoved around, but they were tested physically by the Browns’ offensive line this week, with John Greco in particular taking it to the Bengals’ defensive tackles, driving the likes of Geno Atkins, Pat Sims, and Domata Peko backwards on a consistent basis. The Browns’ interior offensive held Atkins without a stop for the first time this season, and controlled him to ensure he earned his lowest run-defense grade of his career. Isaiah Crowell (67.4 overall grade; 71.8 running grade) made the best use of the Browns’ run blocking, and if the Browns had been able to keep the game closer, their ground attack looked like a potential weapon to control this football game. Top defensive grades S Derrick Kindred, 77.1 CB Tramon Williams, 73.4 CB Tracy Howard, 72.3 DE Xavier Cooper, 60.4 CB Briean Boddy-Calhoun, 54.0 Browns’ run defense springs a leak Just as the Browns’ offensive line got the best of the Bengals’ run defense, so Cleveland’s run defense was bested by the Cincinnati ground game. Defensive end Xavier Cooper was the only front-seven defender for the Browns to earn a run-defense grade of 50.0 or higher, as the Bengals ran up and down the field on Cleveland with big plays and consistent gains alike. The Browns didn’t miss tackles, but simply struggled to get contact on the ball carrier early to slow the ground attack. The Bengals’ offensive line picked up nearly 3 yards per carry before contact, and Jeremy Hill added plenty after first contact. The pass-rush of Emmanuel Ogbah was a bright spot, but the extremely poor game in run defense overwhelmed that highlight. PFF Game-Ball Winner: Bengals WR A.J. Green https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-cle-cin-grades/
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

our QB's are straight up soft when it comes to hits. Good point. As far as soft, I dunno man. I know every QB takes a big hit now and then, but I'm not sure how many QB's out there could stand up to the amount of punishment our QB's have been subjected to.

every game our QB gets smashed, shoulder first, into the turf at least 3 times ... it's incredible

Simply put, it's too easy to throw on us. We just can't stop the pass.

We are at the point where were picking out tidbits to praise , looked good on that play, nice tackle, nice run. This is horrible , unacceptable, garbage. This team would lose to the 1999 version , Pryor is the only NFL talent on this roster, Thomas is old and accepts losing and Hayden is broken down, overrated and injured, The FO cramming moneyball down our throats is not working, you need talented smart players, not players that would be 2nd or 3rd string on any team above 500.

What happens to all the cap money that doesn't get spent? It's not like Jimmy can pocket it can he? Settle lawsuits, this is a cash grab for him nothing more, I was the owner of an 0 an 7 team I would be livid.

We coulda got the ball back with 40, 45 seconds left in the half if they continued to be conservative and we used our timeouts. Watched it now Lamp ... and u are DEAD NUTS WRONG ... the dude who wrote the article was wrong also .. here's how it broke down .. SORRY IF ACTUALLY SHOWING THE FACTS gets in the way of your defense of Hue ... We had 2 time outs left when the drive started .. we used one on the HORRIBLE CHALLENGE .. They ran there first play with 1:03 left .. 5 yard gain and we called our 2nd time out with :58 left so that took 5 seconds ... making it 2nd down and 5 ... So lets ASSume best case scenario for us .. we'll IGNORE the fact that 2nd and 5 is a PLUS YARDAGE for the O and that we hadn't moved the ball through the air at all .. so even if we did happen to stop them .. the odds of us scoring were slim to none anyhow .. OK .. so BEST CASE SCENARIO FOR US .. There's 58 seconds left .. we have 1 TO left .. They run and we stop them ... we'll say the play took 4 seconds ... so we use our 3rd and FINAL TIMEOUT at :54 ... now its 3rn and 4 ... WERE OUT OF TIMEOUTS .. They run their 3rd down play and we stop them .. we'll take 5 seconds off the clock cause we can't stop it and the 40 second play clock doesn't start til the ref places the ball .. So now were down to 49 seconds .... CLOCK RUNNING ... lets say they snap it with 4 secs left on the 40 second clock .. thats 36 seconds off of 49 .. so now were down to 13 seconds ... and we have the punt .. after the punt is over .. we wil more than likely have 3 or 4 seconds left to run ONE PLAY ... THATS BEST CASE SCENARIO LAMP .. BEST CASE ... So your telling me it was AGGRESSIVE and SMART to take a TO on a 2nd and 5 at the OFF CHANCE we actually stop them from getting the 1st so we have a chance to block/return a punt and run ONE PLAY ... Sorry bro .. like i said earlier .. its plain FLAT OUT STUPID ... PLEASE MATHAMETICALY REFUTE ME ... No need to apologize Lamp ...

I've already explained my POV, and don't know how to illustrate it better than I already have. You can't, lamp. You are arguing logic versus emotion. And I agree with your opinion... Read my post above this one .. Then get back to me ... Lamp was basing his entire defense of Hue off FAULTY LOCIC (I.E.: bad math .. ) .. Lamp's scenario of getting the ball back with 40 - 45 seconds just isn't FACTUAL .. Maybe Lamp thought we had all 3 to's .. i dunno .. but his ENTIRE PREMISE WAS WRONG based off faulty math ..

Damn, I hate being proven wrong. Lol
This may be a reach but consider: if the Bengals throw an incomplete pass it's the same as a timeout, is it not?

Hue is human just like us .. he's going to make mistakes .. ITS OK to just admit it when he does .. I like what he's done so far in many many regards .. and i want to see him get his 3 years minimum ... but he's done some real boneheaded things that make me think he doesn't think clearly at end of half or game situations ... he also gets to cute at times ...but i still like the guy and think hes doing a very good job overall .. See .. its not that hard .. *L* ..

Bless this man! Winston has managed to make $1,467,529 through three years with Browns. He has a total of 1 carry for -8 yards and a fumble. My hat's off to the hustle.

Did we bring K'Waun Williams back at some point?
Also, we waived Whitehurst with an injury settlement, so he's not on IR.
There are other guys no longer on the team whose names appear on that list as well.

Green Bay's another one ..
Last week they played without there top 3 CB's and there RB's were a dude promoted from the practice squad on Wed. And a guy they traded for on Tuesday and he played on Thursday night when the dude off the practice squad got hurt ..
TB played a game 2 weeks ago with NONE of the 4 STARTING D-LMAN in the lineup .. St. Louis did the same thing ... 3 of there top 4 were out ..
Look at Pitt's WR position .. Wheaton, Coates, Rodgers ... there playing there 5th opposite Antonio every week and it's their 6th is u want to include Bryant .. and these BUMS have Landry Jones throwing them the ball ..
And those teams all have ALOT MORE INJURIES ...
We've been HAMMERED .. no doubt .. but i said last week I'm not even sure if were in the top 5 ...

It seems a lot of our injuries are on O but really, the huge, HUGE problem on this team is our defence. The O has kept us in games for the most part - even with all the shuffling on O.

I agree lamp ... I mean, we've scored an adequate amount of points given our lack of talent IMO ... our defense in ALL regards has been so, so bad
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
