(I will leave out my opinion on Romeo for this one)

The offense under Chud is going to be a timing based offense. The receivers and the QB must be on the same page. This is why it is vital that at least one of our QBs emerge early and begin getting the majority of reps with the first team.

It isnt just timing between the QB and receivers either. The TE will need to know how long to hold his block before releasing and becoming a receiving threat.

The timing on the blocks is probably more important than anything else. When you are using a lot of pulls and stretches. those guys have to be on the same page of which guy releases and when he releases to take out the next defender. Release off the DE to early and De makes the play, release to late and linebacker makes the play.

The skins last year made the same type of shift on offense moving from Gibbs O to Al Saunders O and it was a tremendous struggle. It will pay off this year for them and it may be a similar case for the Browns.

We have all heard that Romeo and Phil look for intelligent players. We will find out how quick they can assimilate a phone book offense.

bluecollar: Are you saying that BQ is going to start this year?

I am really not good at this . . . I would say there would be pressure for him to play from the usual suspects and that would intensify if the losses are ratcheting up or Charlie isn't playing well.

HOWEVER, I would much rather see Quinn hold a clipboard for a year and iron out the wrinkles in his game/learn the system. But that's just me.

Interesting stuff, Mourg. Thanks for the knowledge.

I don't know how smart our offensive players are, but I know a few are studying hard. I wonder if they all are?

bluecollar: I got you. I think I just read it wrong the first time.
